I have been going to Kaufman Eye Institute for about eight years. I have always had a pleasant and professional experience. The front and back office staff are friendly and knowledgeable in their areas of expertise.
I have already referred two to three people to their Sun City office and they commented to me how pleased they were with their patient care.
I plan to continue to utilize Kaufman Eye Institute for all of my eye care needs in the years ahead.
Very disappointed with this experience. I've been a patient of Dr. Kaufman for over six years, but this visit will unfortunately be my last.
I arrived early for my 9:45 a.m. appointment, only to find the front desk backed up out the door. The check-in process was extremely slow and disorganized, it took over 10 minutes just to check in the two patients ahead of me.
Once I was finally taken back, the experience only got worse. I was moved from room to room multiple times, three different exam rooms and the waiting room twice, while my appointment was still in progress. One assistant started my exam, then asked me to wait outside. Another assistant later took me to a different room, where Dr. Marquis dilated my eyes. After that, I was again asked to leave the room and wait in the waiting area. At this point, my frustration grew, especially when I noticed two patients who arrived after me were seen and escorted to checkout before I was. It felt like musical chairs, not a professional medical office. By 11:15 a.m., I was placed in a third room after already spending significant time waiting. I could hear the doctor in the hallway, yet she continued seeing other patients. By 11:35 a.m., after waiting more than an hour and a half with dilated eyes, I finally spoke up because I had another appointment to get to. I was shocked that the staff actually asked if I wanted to reschedule--after all that waiting and already being dilated. The obvious solution would have been to simply finish my visit. The entire office was chaotic and poorly managed. The staff and assistants seemed unorganized and inexperienced, and there was a clear lack of communication about which patient was supposed to be seen next. When I finally checked out around 11:45 a.m., I was told, "We're having a bad day." I would call it a complete lack of organization, customer service, concern, and compassion. I had to laugh when I remembered this office received an award in 2019 for best eye clinic. Based on this experience, I can't imagine that happening again unless serious changes are made.
This office is amazing. Everyone we encountered was super friendly. I would highly recommend coming here if you have any eye issues at all. Cassie goes above and beyond! The ladies who help you pick out glasses are exceptional! We are so fortunate we found this office!
This is a fantastic place to go for eye exam, treatment and eye surgery. At first my eyes were cloudy and I could not read even the largest print. I got surgery done by Dr Kaufman and almost immediately I could read and drive. The doctors and staff do not leave you, they set up future appointments and remind you when to come in. I will never leave this place for another because I got the respect from the great staff and they acted as though they are my family. I feel very comfortable there because I love and trust them.
We have been a big fan of Kaufman eye Institute since we moved to Florida in 2019. However, there seems to have been a change in office management recently, and the customer service and general feel of the office have become very unfriendly and not patient focused. It has become an issue that we are concerned about because my wife is getting ready to have cataract surgery and we are strongly considering a second alternative.
The best eye doctors, technicians and staff in the greater Tampa area. The staff greets you by name, the doctors provide excellent service and always address the issues. We have been long term patients for the last decade and we will continue to be patients for decades to come. We always look forward to seeing Cassie, Amy and Heather in the Sun City Center office as well as Dr Marquis and Dr Kauffman. Their optical staff is on point always keeping my contacts ordered quickly and services any issues with our glasses or frames. Five stars is not enough for this fantastic organization. Thank you for providing excellent customer service and we look forward to our next visit.
I have to give a shout out to the Kaufman Optical Shop Ladies: Lori and LJ! These wonderful women are top notch and give excellent customer service! They are very experienced with many years in the business. They spend plenty of time with you and help you pick the best product! If you're looking for a great selection of eyewear, you need to go here! Lori and LJ will gladly help you out! They are 10/10!
The optometrist was great. Paola the medical assistant was the best. Her smile and calm manner were excellent. She was very efficient and is excellent at her job. Thank you for a great experience.
