Dr. Spence was incredible--patient, thorough, and someone I would gladly see again. Unfortunately, the staff and billing experience were extremely frustrating. I asked multiple times about pricing and coverage -- when I scheduled my appointment, during the retinal exam, and again while being brought back. Each time I was told my exam was 100% covered, yet no one mentioned that a retinal exam was mandatory or that there would be additional charges. I was also told that my contact lens exam was covered only to be told that it wasn't at checkout. Despite all of those assurances, I was still quoted incorrect amounts at checkout. Even after I confirmed my benefits with my insurance company, the office continued giving me the wrong information until I explained the coverage to them. The checkout interaction was the most disappointing. The staff member became rude and aggressive when I questioned the incorrect charge and even said he would void my prescription. The moment I mentioned I might buy frames, his attitude completely changed--which felt unprofessional and transactional. For contrast, VisionWorks immediately understood and explained my benefits with no confusion at all. Dr. Spence deserves 5 stars, but the lack of transparency, poor insurance knowledge, and unprofessional behavior from the staff made the overall experience stressful. If the practice improves these issues, I would gladly return.

My family and I have been getting Services from Caris for 5 years now. They are very helpful and we are very pleased. We see Dr. Spence and he is a wonderful doctor. He cares about the health of your eyes not just prescriptions. We highly recommend Caris.

Dr.Spence and the staff here are top notch! They truly are there to make sure you have the best possible vision. They have a great selection and I know that the work done is quality. My last pair from them is 6 years old and still intact and I'm very rough with my glasses.

Dr. Spence removed my cataracts, and I can see so well now! I used monovision contacts for 20 years and chose the monovision lenses for my eyes. It's an amazing procedure with amazing results. What a Godsend!

Dr Spence is the best eye doctor I've ever had. He's friendly, kind, explains things in terms I understand and his staff is wonderful too!

As usual Dr. Spence did a great job in finding out why my eyes kept changing, and was able to schedule an appointment with an Opthamologist, who will do my cataract surgery and fix the problem. Dr. Spence has been our eye Dr. for over 20+ years and I would not go to any one else, and I highly recommend him and Caris Eye Center.
