Office smelled like marijuana, which the employees couldn't help I guess. They were aware but didn't spray anything until I asked....thats neither here nor there but definitely not how you want to enter a business on a first appointment. The eye doctor himself spent very little time during the visit, gave me very little information and explanation as to what was going on with my child's eyes...said the same thing he's always said "he has a lazy eye." He was very aware my 10 year old did not like the previous glasses, did not want to wear them (to the extent that he cries because he's embarrassed) but refused to write him contacts....i understand he's young but i am the parent, who is responsible for teaching him, guiding him, showing him how to care for them, put them in, take them out...etc. I felt like it'd be better for him to at least try the contacts versus him not wanting to wear the glasses AT ALL...most of the staff were professional, helpful and kind...except for the lady upfront...she was rude and unprofessional the very first time I called and that should've been my que right then. I felt it right then, this place was not gonna be a good fit for us. But I continued on with the appointment...she was nice when we got there but when we got into the room to look at the glasses...she was very discouraging and not helpful at all.....there was a pair of glasses I was trying to talk my little boy into and before I could get it out of my mouth she took them off his face and said "I don't like those either..." I knew that it was gonna be hard for him to find a pair he liked...if any...and usually I can boost him up and talk him into almost anything...not with that lady standing there...she knew we had had trouble getting him to wear the glasses...I'd expressed that to everyone we dealt with...and rather than encouraging that he wear them...she was like "if the school is not saying anything I wouldn't even worry about it...he doesn't have to wear them"....goes to take the 2 trays of glasses and put them up..."I said ma'am, I'm not leaving here without a pair of glasses I just drove an hour and 20 minutes for this appointment and signed him out of school early and I believe he need them" In my mind, I'm thinking "lady if he doesn't need them why did the doctor prescribe them? I told them I'd taken him to his pediatrician and he'd expressed that his left eye was pretty bad and he couldn't see out of it...the test the pediatrician done and the one the eye doctor done, the numbers were vastly different....after I told the lady what the pediatrician said (whom I trust whole heartedly and having been going to since my son was born, he's 10) she was quick to say he wasn't a doctor.....I thought and neither are you and you shouldn't be telling my 10 year old he doesn't even need the glasses he already doesn't want to wear, after the doctor prescribed them and said "he definitely needs to be wearing them at school." So when we went to try to ask about contacts....she was so hateful...even told me to "calm down...." Which was so odd because I was calm....i was asking questions on how to go about getting him contacts...the lady prior to this (who was super kind and helpful) was trying to help me out by saying we could ask the doctor next time about contacts...so my so would wear the glasses for a little bit at least...so I reiterated this talking to the rude lady upfront....thinking she'd back me up...oh no...she was hateful again and said "that's not true you can ask him in just a minute" she had the attitude of "yeah you can ask him but I'm gonna tell him he doesn't need contacts so it won't matter..." that was definitely the vibe...so while we waited on the doctor to come back out so she could ask...I could see him standing back behind the counter which was 10-15 ft away. she whispers something to him and sure enough he come back with "nah, he's too young...yada yada yada" and she yells from the back rather than call us upfront "did you hear that?" Yeah and I won't be back. The dr isnt the 1 who has to educate, pay for the contacts...or the 1 who is gonna have to beg the 10yr old to wear glasses.
The staff do not care about you, they have attitudes. Their glasses are cheaply made and do not last. I am 6 months in and the metal is tearing out the plastic arm cover, and the screws that keep the lenses in keep falling out. When I called to get a prescription, so I can get a better pair somewhere else, instead they looked up how much I paid and informed me of the amount and how much the Insurance Company paid. Do not go to them if you still want glasses beyond 6 months. If you have to call them, do not call and complain, you will get attitude.
I began seeing Dr. Smith a few years back due to insurance changes. I really liked the staff and Dr. Smith from the beginning. I felt like he really took his time examining my eyes and answering my questions. His staff was equally as attentive and nice. Although I had to sign a wavier, each year they would take my last years frames and turn them into sunglasses. This was a great choice to use the frames another year and cut cost. I have no idea what changed this year. I have tried to wear contacts for years, but could never adjust to them. A friend turned me on to multifocal contacts that work well with my eye issues. I have an astigmatism in both eyes along with presbyopia ( comes with old age, go figure ). Anyway, I requested an exam to see if this was an option for me. I don't know what I got but an exam was not it. All of the pre-work testing done before my exam has always been preformed for my glasses, so I'm not sure it anything different should have been done. Based on my research, there is no mention of anything done differently other than the exam and other things associated with wearing contacts, fitting, measurements, discussing which type may be suit my eyes, etc.. My hand to God, I did not get any of that! I barely got an exam from Dr. Smith this year. I'm usually in the chair appx 10ish min, with multiple combinations of "lens" used to get my correct vision. Again, hand to God, if i was in that chair over 1-2 min this time and barely a flip of a lens to verify my needs, I'll give you my first born! I mentioned this to his staff several times during visits to get different lens for correction and comfort, but was only asked, "what else is there to do?" Well, for starters a better exam, measurements, discussions as to what make work best, f/u with my doctor and not his front office personnel! Answering the phines, scheduling appts, pulling charts and reading scripts does not qualify you to make decisions about what I need to wear next, saying we'll, we can try this ( not your decision ) or "check with the doctor" instead of him making time for my concerns. ( he was paid to do this already ) When I was asked that question, and several visits trying to get the right lens, I knew then I was in the wrong place!!! That was and is the last time I step back in there, no
matter how nice everyone is. Polite does not fix my vision. I am so disappointed in Dr. Smith. This was not the normal for a visit as I had experienced in the past with him or any eye doctor. Let me state i have been wearing glasses for 40yrs, so I'm well experienced as to how an eye exam should go. Contact exam, not so much. It has been over 20yrs since I last seriously tried. There was an attempt at Dr. Smiths office a few years back that did not go well nor were there any discussions with him as to other options, just his staff. They had no idea any more than I did. For example, i was told i would gave to wear readers even with contacts. Not necessarily. That also depends on the fit, type
and manufacture. I wanted contacts to get away from glasses ( as i sit here now wearing them to type this review ). I have permanent indentions behind my ears and dark spots on the bridge of my nose from years of wearing glasses, not to mention how they constantly slide down at the most inconvenient times changing my vision. I have tried everything to help with this problem but to no avail. Needless to say, I was excited about this multifocal option vs Toric lens, and was told they were cheaper than a Toric, not true but has nothing to do with this. I went somewhere else to order my contacts. I burnt my insurance benefits at Dr. Smith's office which torks my butt, so I'm unable to get the proper exam nor change my script this year. During my research of all of this, I have also read in many different articles written by doctors and blogs by people like me that multifocals can and do correct your vision so readers are not always required! Ridged Gas Permeable lens are also an option, more costly upfront but cheaper in the long run. More 2 follow.
I've been seeing them for at least 10 years. My mom has been a patient here for about 17-20 years. We love them! The staff is so sweet and personable. The doctor is very friendly and always asks about the family. I have previously worked at a different eye center, and by far this place is the most genuine, upfront and overall great provider for vision services.
Vision Saver has been my eye care center for decades. I haven't had a bad experience with them yet. I will continue to see Dr. Smith until I can't...lol.
Thanks. Vision Saver
Tried charging me for some coating my employer said I wasn't allowed to have and never told me they had my glasses on back order for a month. I had to go in because they are afraid of answering phones apparently and was then told about the backorder. I canceled my glasses so I could go elsewhere and get them quicker. The Dublin office never submitted for my refund and I still haven't gotten my money back. This is not how you do business and will never use them again.
So I have been coming to this place for almost 15 years way back when it was in Warner Robins. The old staff Teresa and the other lady was attentive and made it so comfortable. The doctor has always been great. Nothing bad about him but the lady in the office is terrible she is very unprofessional and rude she made so upset I almost lost it. My insurance information isn't correct she telling me I don't have time to check I will check it later and let you know something in a day. I said why can't you pick up the phone and check. Anyway as much as I love the doctor this is my last time ever going there. Please stay away as long as this staff is there. It's so much more I can say but because of the history I have with the doctor and knowing he's the owner or part owner I want. Please go else where
They're always nice, fast, and I've never had any issues with my prescription, contacts, or glasses & I've been going to them for years. Dr Smith is knowledgeable, helpful, and answers any questions you may have. His staff is super!
