I have had the most pleasant experience here. Matt was AMAZING in helping me navigate with an insurance issue. He helped me get the correct lenses for my daughter and made sure everything she needed was done. The dr we see is amazing with the kids and the staff overall is super friendly and helpful. They worked hard to grt my kids scheduled in a timely manner and even put us on a wait list incase there was a sooner availability.
It was the best experience with an optometrist office I've ever had! The staff was very friendly, cared about the patients and was thorough. Dr. Alvarez was kind, precise and explained everything, giving the best options available with eye care. I would recommend them to anyone!
Let me first say that I have been a patron of this business long before it was "MyEyeDr." I was a patron of Lord Eye Center when Dr. Lord decided to branch out, and I was his patient when he had an office in Statesboro only (may he rest in peace). In total...it has been about 37 years that I have patronized this business regardless of ownership.
I've been slowly becoming more and more discouraged by this eye doctor, but this weekend finally took the cake. My husband and I each had an appt on Saturday 2/14/26. We arrived about 10 minutes late...maybe 11. I'm very aware that it is difficult to accommodate late patients when the office is busy and you have an appt for a reason. I'm very aware that you can't just walk in when you want. However, it is been my experience that most busy physician's have a 15 minute late patient policy. Knowing this, we called and told the office that we were on our way. When we got there, my husband was told that he had to reschedule, but I would be seen because I wasn't late. I asked about their late patient policy, mentioning that I haven't been in any office that didn't offer a 15 minute grace period. I was told that it was up to the doctor. (Note: we drove 45 minutes to this appt). My husband was told that he could sit at the office indefinitely and see if someone cancelled for the day. I saw the doctor, ordered my contacts and glasses, picked out sunglasses, paid my bill, etc and only ONE other patient came in. He was almost turned away because he was eight minutes late, which was openly discussed in front of my husband before the patient arrived. The office as in no way busy on this day. My husband could have been seen considering the rush job that the doctor does with each patient.
This was not the only issue. When I went to the back, they had no idea that I was there for contacts. They said that this was not specified when the appt was made. Well...nobody asked. Any doctor worth their salt makes themselves aware of their patient's medical history even when it comes to scheduling an appt. My appt has always been for contacts since I turned 12...35 years ago. They begrudgingly turned my appt into a contact exam which added an extra 30 seconds to my appt time. When the doctor came in to see me, started doing the whole which is better...1 or 2 , 3 or 4. I repeatedly told him that I did not know because the lenses that he had me looking through seemed foggy. It was like I was looking through a frosted over windshield on a cold winter's day (did I mention that it was FREEZING in the office?). He didn't stop to check the clarity of the lenses or anything, he just kept going. My answers all ended with the words..."I guess." "One, I guess". "Three,I guess." When the visit was over he gave me a copy of my prescription. This was new, because they want me to buy my lenses there. He knew he was being a jerk, and he knew I probably wouldn't be back. He was right. The front desk tried to reschedule my husband. He told them no, but we have found another eye doctor that will happily take our business.
Going back to the late arrival policy for scheduled appointments, I spoke with my daughter about this the next day. She told me that they have turned her away for being one minute late. This is very unprofessional. There should be a late arrival policy that every patient is made aware of. There should be something in writing that each patient has to sign stating that they are aware of the policy, and the policy should also be posted at the front desk. The policy should also be fair and consistent for each patient. I'm so sorry to see the business that Dr. Whitman Lord worked so hard to build has been turned in to a joke.
Came in to get updated prescription for glasses and contacts expecting to only be able to get one pair of cheap glasses as usual. After my exam, Julie helped me and I thought I was only able to get what I usually get which is a super small selection of the cheapest glasses, but as I was looking Julie came up to me and explained I am able to get two pairs and I was able to select from the whole wall!!!! I've been wearing glasses since I was 11 and now I'm almost 36 and have never in my life been able to do this! I was overwhelmed and started tearing up and she told me to take my time and find a pair that I actually like, which I'm used to being rushed and having to pick something I don't like at all, but she made this an unforgettable experience for me. I spent years having to duct tape glasses together not being able to afford new ones let alone sturdy higher quality ones. I went in today to pick them up and Julie came over to see how my new glasses were looking and checking on me. She made me feel really important. For the first time in my life I was able to get 2 pairs of glasses I absolutely love and contacts!! Thank you for that amazing experience and everyone was so nice and welcoming when I got there.
Today we had a great experience at My Eye Dr. First Dr Alvarez did the exam and the
Matt assisted my son in picking out the perfect glasses and couldn't have been nicer! Thanks so much.
Great customer service. Upon arrival the check in staff was professional and courteous. Was in and out in no time. Only had to wait a few days for my appointment.
Recently relocated here. I'll use them again on next year.

Thanks to these perfect glasses for my son. Yall are best. Thanks again for everything. Matt you are great keep that great smile.
My daughter and I had appointments together, her needing an exam and contact refill , and me needing an exam with interest in getting contacts for the first time. While checking in, the rep mentioned glasses for the first time, and I corrected her, saying, " no, I'd prefer contacts. " 1st exam room, glasses are mentioned again, and again I said " no, I'd prefer glasses. " Then we see the doctor who again brings glasses up, noone has mentioned glasses in regards to my daughter who everyone seemed to understand was there for contacts, but again I must say " no, I want contacts ". Exam complete, Dr handed us off to sales rep who wants me to pick frames for the glasses I never expressed any interest in purchasing. So again I must repeat, " I don't want glasses, I'm here for contacts." Her reply was that they would have had to do something different in the back to prepare for contacts, and glasses were the only option at this point. So when I told her I just wanted my daughters contacts ( I only bought from them at this point because she was low), I was visibly frustrated. She even tried to go talk to someone, but they told her to have me make another appointment. My overall impression, I wasn't listened to , exams felt rushed, and I failed to address the reason for the appointment. I strongly recommend trying somewhere they listen and value your time as well. UPDATE:: The owner response below suggesting the owner was interested in "making this right " should not suggest that they showed interest in actually doing so.
