Costco Optical Department

Josh at the eye center in Kona Costco was great. Efficient, friendly, and I walked away happy with the who experience and a new set of glasses. I have always had a great experience with the staff and eye doctors here. Keep it up! I'll come back and bring my money here.

Jordan is incredibly rude and a bully. I waited an hour to buy glasses and all he did was roll his eyes at people when they asked him questions the whole time. He moves like a snail and had zero sense of urgency despite there being a massive crowd of people waiting around him. Never taking my family to buy glasses here again.

Absolutely horrible and condescending customer service from Sophia of the Kona optical Department in Costco. She truly made me feel uncomfortable and unwanted as a customer during my numerous encounters with her. She also seems to enforce her own interpretation of the Costco return policy which is unacceptable in my opinion. Once I presented her with the actual return policy via the Costco website; she instantly issued my return without problem. I have sent feedback to Costco corporate in hopes that she does not continue this type of behavior and future consumers have a better experience than I did. I love Costco but this type of service truly is a first in all my years of patronizing this establishment.

When I got my new contacts, my right eye wasn't quite right. I called and asked for a recheck and they got me in the next day! Plus, Dr Kitamori was on-time, efficient and got my prescription adjusted perfectly in no time flat. I walked out with a new lens and a perfect prescription. Haven't seen this well in years! Well done, folks! Thank you all.

The associates in the vision center are stellar!! Sophia went "above and beyond" to help me with ALL of my complicated glasses and vision needs issues, she and a couple of the other staff spent a lot of time with me, explaining options, and technical information-- ultimately finding perfect solutions for this problem child (me). Most knowledgeable and helpful staff I've ever encountered at any Costco vision center (or for that matter, any other optical business as well)

Nearly all of my experiences over last decade or so have been positive. Ship time is quick, always, with good notification of arrival. Had one slightly off lense once, and they were glad to test it, confirm and replace. We note that if you have not had a prescription for the required time, you will need one. When I get the eye tests and exam by Dr. Kojima and staff, I always ask that the eye blink/response test be done last, as it makes it hard to read the eye chart after, like a flash bulb in the eye. They complied with my request, and you might ask the same, I think more accurate. .

I went in and paid a lot for the eye exam. The doctor said my current glasses where ok however she bumped up my prescription a "little " I was a bit puzzled. Then found out glasses go to the mainland to get done. I got my new prescription and they adjusted the frames and when I saw them in the light out of the store and they were pitted on the frame. The lady doing adjusting must have seen the defect as well as the laboratory and they still gave them to me expecting I would keep a defective product. I had to wait another two weeks. Fine however when the new frame arrived I tried the glasses and I was seeing double outlines on letters and they made me nauseous. Talked to the same lady and she was being difficult and had to take them to "get used to them" she said. But the same things happened so I was not happy and requested another appointment with the doctor after dealing with them I saw her again and she reversed my prescription to my old prescription . She said oh those are still ok you're still seeing 20-20 . Then I asked for a refund and returned the glasses however the lady at the desk was mad and try to put it on me and said it's what you requested. like I'm the doctor. Then I realized the doctor could've said your fine your still seeing 20-20 and don't need new frames but greediness on her part made her bump up my prescription. And that lady at the desk said I wasn't going to be able to order glasses there any longer. I'm sure it's against Costco policy to deny further service just because they messed up and I asked for a refund politely unlike them. Ovoid the place and go somewhere where they don't have their heads where the sun don't shine.

First, not sure if everyone knows that the eye doctors (optometrists) here are independent from the dispensing optician section (where you order glasses). The doctors rent space but it just happens to be in Costco. So when people review they need to treat each differently. In my case they were both 5 stars. I was particularly relieved to be treated by the optometrist who is very knowledgable and has all the modern equipment. After moving to HI a few years ago prior optometrists and eye doctors that I had seen on the Big Island were dangerous in their incompetence and I was thinking I was going to have go to Oahu or back to the mainland to find someone. I've been wearing contacts and glass for 40 years and never had these issues with prior eye doctors or optometrists ever before. I am so relieved that I decided to try one more optometrist before giving up and taking a plane ride.
