Eyecare of Blackfoot

I've been going to Advanced Eyecare of Blackfoot for years and have always had a great experience! The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. They're very informative and take the time to answer any questions I have. Dr. Zaugg is great and extremely knowledgeable, which always makes me feel comfortable and confident in my care. Overall, it's always a wonderful experience -- I highly recommend them!

I wasn't going to write a review because I tried to address all of the issues I've had in person. This was my first time coming here in November 2024, and the initial visit was great. The doctor was nice, and everything seemed fine. I have had the same insurance for over five years and confirmed beforehand that this office was in my network. However, I was later charged for things that were not correct. It honestly felt like I was being overcharged. I get a yearly eye exam, and it has never cost that much. When they called asking me to pay the bill, I told the girl I preferred to come in person to discuss it and find a solution. She was very eager to take payment over the phone, even though I knew the charges were incorrect, which is why I wanted to come in. We eventually "resolved" it almost three weeks later or so I thought. We then decided to move forward and ordered glasses for my partner. We were told it would take two weeks. Almost three weeks later, I called for an update. I was left on hold for 15 minutes, and when the girl came back, she was giggling. At that point, it was very frustrating. We eventually received the glasses, and everything seemed fine. In February 2025, I received a digital text with a bill stating I still owed money. I contacted my insurance, and we reviewed the billing together. It showed charges for glasses and a contact lens exam (which insurance paid for), along with a premium contact lens fitting with trial lenses. I never received trial contact lenses at my exam. It is extremely frustrating to be charged for something that never happened. I asked if I could just cut ties, remove the charge, and not use the prescription at all. I was not willing to pay an extra $160 for a service I did not receive, especially when I never even got to use my insurance allowance for glasses or contacts. Fast forward to November 2025: my husband's glasses broke. When we originally purchased them, we were told they had a warranty and could be fixed or the frame replaced within a year. I called, and they were nice and said the replacement would be ready in a week. After 11 days, I called for an update and couldn't get one. I was told they would call me back ,they didn't. I called again and had to explain the situation multiple times to different people. Four weeks later, we finally reached a solution, but instead of honoring the warranty, my husband was given a different frame that he didn't like very much. I eventually checked my online insurance claims and saw that the premium fitting fee was still there. I asked my insurance to call the office. When my insurance contacted them, the office stated they were not removing the charge and that I still had to pay it. The billing department repeatedly says things without following through, which makes it feel dishonest as if they say whatever sounds good in the moment but never actually resolve the issue. Meaning I still have to pay this bill. I have left unhappy time and time again. I could have stayed with my original eye care provider, where I was not overcharged and actually felt heard. The only reason I switched was because this location was local.

Doctor Zagg was the most professional eye care specialist I have seen anywhere. He very easily could've just my vision, but went above and beyond and discovered that I had had a stroke. He probably saved my life if not permanent vision problems.

I was so impressed! I brought my four-year-old in and they were so good with him. They were very patient and good at explaining things. There was a very bright upbeat atmosphere as well. I would highly recommend coming here.

Was disappointed with my last exam. I called to schedule a yearly exam and asked for the cost. I had the previous yearly exam done here, as a contact wearer. Was told $135 for the exam. After my appointment, in which we changed my prescription, but did not change contact brands, they charged me $125 contact fitting fee to change my prescription. I asked why this was, and was told it was for the contact fitting, where I put in and took out my own contacts, and they looked at my eyes. With the same brand of contacts I have worn for the last 4 years. Really frustrating as I called and asked before scheduling. And was not told until check out.

We had such a great experience at Eyecare of Blackfoot! They were patient with our two littles and had things for them to play with. It was totally family friendly. They were upfront and knowledgeable about insurance and pricing and made the whole experience easy and accessible.

I'm re-homing a dog. The dog chewed on my Rayban reading glasses. I went into Eyecare of Blackfoot to get my very expensive reading glasses fixed. The staff replaced the ear pads, cleaned the lenses and gave me a hard case to protect the glasses from the dogs chewing habit. I never share the price I get from local merchants, because I don't want people to assume they will get the same deal, but wow, Eyecare of Blackfoot treated me very well. I will never buy glasses, including sunglasses from anyone else. Thank you for your great service

We love going to Eyecare of Blackfoot! They have wonderful customer service and are always friendly. The doctor and assistant were both so kind and patient when working with my energetic 3 year old son for his first visit.
