EyeCare of Rigby - Jason Hurley, OD

At first, everything seemed to be great. This was my second time coming here and it's convenient for me to go somewhere in Rigby. I have pretty good eye insurance, they told me at the front desk that my eye exam would be fully covered then I had $200 towards contacts OR glasses. After the exam we tried out some contacts and the lady gave me a price point of what it would cost for a years worth of contacts, I had to switch to daily lenses because my eyes are a bit sensitive. No problem. Tell me why it is $800 for 1 year worth of lenses? Then she's like we offer a $200 rebate after you've purchased them, unfortunately last year when I tried for the rebate it said I didnt have the correct information on the receipt so I cut my losses. That bill was only $150 out of pocket due to me having my $200 off from my insurance. So $800 - $200 is still $600, that is absolutely outrageous. She gave me my sample lenses for the week, I didn't look at the box till I got home and noticed one of the boxes were expired, they expired 08/2024. Remember that part. Then we go to look at glasses and I asked where there cheapest ones where since I don't wear my glasses often I don't need to invest in nice ones. She tells me they are all mixed in and it would take some time to find the cheapest ones. She picked out a couple for me, Ray Bans, Michael Kors of course the most expensive ones and I said maybe we should just wait. Scheduled my follow up appointment for the next week and went home. Started looking online, I went to 1-800 contacts, found the same exact contacts for $268.00 for a year. With my $200 Insurance I only paid $68.00 and shipping. Went to my appointment this morning for my follow up and I told them I wouldn't be buying any contacts or glasses as I found them cheaper elsewhere. As soon as I said that she got an attitude with me and said just be aware the reason they are so cheap is because they are often expired contacts, I said that's funny you say that because the trial lenses you gave me were also expired, she looked at me in disbelief and said I was probably reading the box wrong, I had taken a picture for proof and showed her. She said she would talk to her rep, no apology just attitude. Fine, I get your upset that your not getting the sale but you can't bash on a company for expired contacts when you literally gave me expired ones. After I left and was entering my prescription online for some glasses they asked for a PD number, the pupillary distance it was not on my prescription, so I called EyeCare and she told me they only measure that when I get fitted for glasses through them so she couldnt give me the measurements, or even tell me how to do it myself. Also I forgot to mention, when it was time to pay after all that, which I didn't think I owed anything because at the beginning they told me everything would be covered by my insurance I was told the total was for $175.00 because I insurance doesn't pay for the picture of the back of your eye or the picture of your eye health. I definitely think that should be brought up at the beginning of your appointment not being told that everything will be covered by insurance then being told another thing. I'm fine paying, just would like to be aware of it up front. All together, they are overpriced, rude and completely unprofessional. Me and my kids will go elsewhere from now on. It won't let me post pictures but I do have pictures of the expired contacts. I'm not looking for any thing from this review other than to warn other customers.

The staff (especially Noah) was so kind and patient with my elderly mama who was struggling with her exam. They went above and beyond to take time and make sure she was comfortable. The office staff and everyone there is so professional and really listens going the extra mile to help and be extra gracious and helpful explaining and answering all questions. Dr. Hurley really took time to help my mom and not rush. Such a wonderful place!

From reception, to the technicians, to the doctors and the opticians, it is clear everyone here genuinely cares about you and your vision. They used the best service and the best technology to review my eye health and dial in my prescription. I am a medical student and spend copious amounts of time on computers for studying. They recommended Neurolens to help my eyes focus and align better on screens and reduce eye strain, neck pain, and headaches. I couldn't be happier with my results. If you are looking for an optometrist that really knows their stuff, this is the place to go.

In the many years I have been going to Eye Care of Rigby my experience has always been very positive. Dr. Hurley and his staff are very friendly, helpful, and professional. The regular upgrading and changing of technology and equipment constantly impresses me, but the correct results are what matters the most and that is what I have experienced.

Dr. Hurley and his team are top notch, they got me in for a next day appointment. From the moment you walk in until you leave you feel important. The state of art equipment they use is amazing and the best part is picking out your new glasses Jen made me feel like a friend and she had lots of input. Would highly recommend this office for all of your eye care needs.

Jason is a great eye doctor. He and his staff listen and help you reach their goals. I had major headaches and they stopped with my new glasses. I love going into their office, the people, the atmosphere, the culture is awesome! I love taking my family there!
