I went to Bensenville Eye Care as a brand new patient today. The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. Dr. Gretchen Maynard was so wonderful, and even took the time to re-examine and discuss an eye abnormality with me. I left feeling informed about my situation and well-cared for!

Be mindful of what type of exam you're getting and what insurance they bill for you and what your plans cover. My family and I have been patients here for longer than I can remember, and have always returned because the care we receive. Last year, they billed my medical insurance for my exam, prescription & images, and my vision insurance for the lenses and extra charge for contacts. Well medical insurance doesn't pay for the refraction because it's the procedure to get your prescription, and the vision insurance doesn't cover it as a separate charge because it's should be included with your eye exam (that they billed medical for) And you the patient will be responsible for that charge. And when I called to get an explanation, I was told that it is my responsibility to tell them I only want to have the exam for my contacts, so that's what I'll be doing at the next optometrist I see. And if there's any medical eye issues, I will be sure to see a physician.
