I had an AMAZING EXPERIENCE at Chittick Eye Care! Tori & Dunovan were so super sweet to remain open Even after the business closed so that I could pick my glasses up and be fitted. I really really appreciated the amazing customer service and the very nice quality frames and lenses that they offer. I am definitely in love with my Tom Fords and will definitely be coming back to purchase more eyewear from you all. Again, thank you so so much I am so so happy with my selections!
Doctor was great, but as soon as I hit the show room, I was told I would need Crizal lenses for my -2.50 prescription. I had experience as an optician myself and had never been recommended that for such a low power, nor would I have back when I did the job myself. Typically anything beyond -4.50 or -5.00.I insisted on polycarbonate and they're perfect, despite the optician telling me they recommend Crizal for anyone over -2.00 (probably because it's more expensive). I didn't appreciate being told I needed to pay for additional testing when I set up the appointment, and that the teating wouldn't be covered by insurance so I waived it. They did it anyway free of charge. After paying $120 for exam and glasses with insurance, I received a bill for $64.38 a month later. Called to resolve it and ask why (never happened to me anywhere else 20+ years) and was told they would call me back. Had to call them back later the same day and was told that the charges were for extra tests the doctor wanted and insurance didn't cover them. The person then explained that this would happen every time I come for my yearly eye exam. Felt high-pressure from the get go, frames are really pricy and the sales tactics woven into the medical aspect make it feel slimy. Good doc, morally-gray business.
I had been having trouble seeing in my right eye. Described my symptoms with the receptionist who immediately got me in to Dr a few hours later. The Dr did a very thorough eye exam and diagnosed me with a detached retina. He sent me to St Louis for emergency surgery at Barnes Jewish Hospital. My surgery was scheduled for the next morning.
I'll be forever grateful for the doctor's accurate diagnosis and for getting me a referral to the hospital. I highly recommend them. They will take good care of you.
Accommodating and polite, even after getting the directions wrong, resulting in my being late for this appointment, I was seen within a matter of minutes.
Great atmosphere!
Doctor and Technician were thorough, friendly, and explained each part of the examination. I hadn't seen an eye doctor in over 10 years and came in with some vision concerns which ended up being minor. Highly recommended.
I had an excellent experience with the doctor and her assistants, who were all incredibly welcoming and helpful. I truly enjoyed my visit up until it came time to select my glasses. I typically struggle with choosing frames, but the person assisting me was helpful in narrowing down my options. After trying on three pairs, I decided they weren't quite right for me and, along with my husband, we agreed that I would take more time to research and come back once I had a better idea of what I was looking for.
During this time, my husband picked out a pair of glasses, and the salesperson asked what I planned to do. I explained that I wasn't yet sold on any frames and would hold off for now. However, the salesperson responded by saying, "I don't want you shopping online with your prescription." I was taken aback by this comment, as it felt intrusive and unnecessary. As a customer, it's my decision how I choose to use my prescription, and I didn't appreciate being pressured or made to feel uncomfortable about it.
Additionally, the salesperson continued to emphasize how great our benefits were, despite me clearly stating multiple times that I wasn't ready to make a purchase due to the difficulty I have in deciding on frames. When we discussed pricing and my husband expressed hesitation because the total cost was higher than usual, the salesperson responded by saying, "That's interesting because your co-pay is based on your insurance and should be the same everywhere." This comment felt dismissive and further added to our decision to not move forward with the purchase.
Finally, when we asked for a printed copy of our prescription, the salesperson informed us that their systems were down and that they couldn't provide it at the moment. We requested it be emailed to us instead, and I hope he follows through with this.
I truly feel for the doctor, who is OUTSTANDING at what she does, and it's unfortunate that one team member's behavior may overshadow the exceptional care we experienced. I understand that eyewear sales are an important part of the business, but the pressure and lack of respect for the customer's decision-making process could negatively impact the overall customer experience. I strongly believe the sales person could benefit from additional customer service training to better understand how to engage with clients in a more respectful and professional manner. I sincerely believe that constructive feedback is crucial for growth, and I hope this message is taken in that spirit.
Personnel were all professional and knowledgeable. All questions were answered. I especially appreciated the extra help received when trying on and finally selecting frames!
Dr. McKinney and the optometry team were excellent. She was very thorough and did a good job of sharing what was going on with my eye health. 5 stars if I was rating the optometry staff alone. The sales staff are nothing more than sleazy car salesman. This was my second and final time I will be using Chittick. My first visit, I was forced to sit through a lengthy "timeshare presentation" about lenses and benefits before they would release my script to me to order glasses online. They were advsied I have no intention of purchasing glasses from them and still prodded me with questions for nearly 30 minutes. I gave them a second chance, and the gentleman working this morning, after advising him I would be purchasing glasses somewhere else, did not give me the timeshare routine but did proceeded to question my choices, and go on to tell that I'm wasting my money on Vision coverage if I'm not buying glasses from them despite vision coverage drastically reducing the cost of the actual optometry visit. He also failed to provide me with my script despite the fact I clearly stated I was purchasing elsewhere, nor did he tell me I needed to directly request my script. They then refused to share my script with me over the phone because it's against their policy so now I have to go back in again. Perhaps this is the norm outside of my experience, but this is the only place I have ever been to that withholds your medical record unless you ask.
