Northwest Eye Center - Crystal Lake

I am not someone who usually writes reviews unless the experience is truly exceptional. I have also never written a negative review--until now. I am sharing this to make others aware so they don't have to go through the same frustration I did. I went to Northwestern Eye Care in Crystal Lake for a new patient annual exam. My appointment was scheduled for 9:00 AM. I completed paperwork by 9:10 AM and then sat in the waiting room until 9:35 AM before being taken back. Once in the exam room, the assistant asked if I wore contacts. I said yes and told her I believed my prescription was around -2.75. She then asked if I had my glasses or a written prescription with me, which I did not. At that point, she gave me significant pushback and stated they would not be able to prescribe new contacts without a previous written prescription. I was never informed ahead of time that I needed to bring this, nor was I asked any questions about contacts or glasses when scheduling my appointment. The assistant's tone became dismissive and rude when I questioned this. I work in the medical field and know this is not how patients should be treated. I considered leaving at that point but decided to continue the appointment. When the doctor came in, I spent less than 10 minutes with him. He confirmed that I did not need my previous prescription and stated that trial contacts could be ordered if needed. This directly contradicted what the assistant had told me, making the earlier interaction completely unnecessary. After the visit, I was sent to the front desk and presented with a bill totaling $275, when I expected only my $50 copay. I was told this included: * $50 copay * $50 refraction fee * $175 contact fitting fee No contacts were tried on, and no fitting was performed. Even the receptionist expressed concern that the contact fitting fee seemed incorrect. After several attempts to verify, I was told I would only be billed later once insurance was processed. Later that afternoon, I received a call stating I would be charged the $50 copay and the $175 contact fitting fee. After reviewing everything at home, I contacted billing the next day. Thankfully, the billing representative confirmed that a contact fitting was not performed, the refraction fee should have been billed to insurance, and I should have only owed my $50 copay. I am extremely grateful to the billing department, because without their honesty, this office would have incorrectly charged me over $200 for services that were not provided. Overall, this office failed to: * Verify insurance prior to the visit * Communicate out-of-pocket costs beforehand * Ask basic intake questions when scheduling * Provide consistent or respectful patient communication I would not recommend this office. If you choose to go here, double-check everything and ask detailed questions before any services are performed.

Welcomed by the gal at the front desk; staff puts you at ease, as they explain the tests they are doing. As one who has a hard time NOT blinking, especially when told 'NOT to blink', they made me feel understood and comfortable! A great staff, who care!!

I have been visiting this Eye Centre since 2021. Dr. Dolezal is an excellent doctor. I had an issue during my cataract surgery - the way he handeled this situation was beyond my imagination. He refered me to another doctor. The whole situation was resolved very quickly. I trust Dr. Dolezal and I'm happy to refer him for any eye problems.

I wish I could give this office 0 stars. I made the appointment for my husband to get a calcium deposit removed. This is the second appointment to get this removed with the same doctor, Dr. Dillman. When I made the appointment with the receptionist, I said will he be removing the calcium deposit she said yes that's why we are going to schedule with the same doctor so he knows what my husband needs done. This appointment was for 3:30 in the afternoon and my husband had to takeoff work early to go to this appointment. He wasn't pulled back into the appointment until 430 and when they pulled him back, they wanted to do another eye exam that was already done at the first appointment. The doctor came in the room and said he did not have the tools to remove the calcium deposit. Now you just wasted now two appointments for a two minute procedure. Also if you don't have your "tools" than have another doctor in the office do the procedure. How convenient that your office closed at 5, 30 minutes before my husband appointment ended. Did your doctor not have the tools or did he just want to leave!? I will be disputing this appointment with my insurance. They clearly don't care about their patients and there time. I would advise to go elsewhere if you don't expect results or want your time wasted.

My appt was for 10.00. I arrived at 9:45 am. It is 10:47 and they still have not taken me in. They took 3 people in before me and arrived after me. Asked the receptionist and she just stated they have not forgotten.

Nothing but positive experiences here. Barrington is where I normally go to see Dr. Dilman who is phenomenal but crystal Lake was closer to my work. Everyone was so friendly and it was a pleasure to be there.

The Crystal Lake office was uncrowded and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and I was taken right on time for my appointment. I was being seen for a serious eye condition. Dr Dolezal was knowledgeable and efficient. He made me feel confident that my problems were understood and being addressed.

Tried to make an appointment with a doctor that specifically asked me to see him at this location. While trying to make an appointment, the receptionist told me she had no idea what I was talking about and would call me back with more information to set up the appointment. I never heard from them again.
