Dr. Mateen is a phenomenal surgeon! All the staff very professional and friendly. The attention to detail extremely meticulous. I had many appointments for measurements and examinations of my eyes. My vision is extremely important to me. Not just because of my work, I'm a nurse so I depend on my eyes in my hands, but just as a human being. I would rather be deaf than blind,. I appreciated very much the care that was taken to make sure that I had a good outcome.to make sure that everything went exactly to plan so my vision would come out perfect. The surgery itself, they do one eye at a time, which is also extremely important. Took maybe 10 minutes minutes or less. I was fortunate enough to be able to see the surgery from my side. I know that's not desirable for most people, but since I am a medical professional, I was astounded by the precision and expertise of Dr. Mateen. But don't let that put you off. They do have twilight anesthesia so you don't have to see or remember any of it. I will be sending everyone I know who needs cataract surgery to Dr. Mateen and Kovach eye Center.
This was my first visit to Kovach Eye Institute, my Optometrist referred me to this office for Cararact surgery. The process was great from the check in to check out. The office was busy but ran like a well oiled machine. It was the most in depth exam I've ever had, and I felt everyone there were kind and knowledgeable. They informed me of all options, plans and payments. They didn't rush my appointment and made sure all my questions were answered. Because I had to fill out new patient paperwork, it took a bit longer, the appointment was 1 hour and 45 minutes, so expect extra time for your first time. The Patient Education Consultant I had was Kristy, she was so kind, informative and knowledgeable.
I would give Dr. Kovach and the staff at the Barrington office and the surgical center five stars for their professionalism and friendly attitude. They were welcoming and made the experience comfortable.
Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Mateen K. AliNiazee was very different. While he may be skilled at his job, his bedside manner needs improvement. He came across as unapproachable and dismissive. On the day of surgery, he did not greet us. Also, he always interacted in a rushed and unfriendly tone during the exam. When I tried to ask a question about the eye drops, I was cut off mid-sentence.
Overall, the staff and Dr. Kovach were excellent, but Dr. Mateen AliNiazee's attitude made the experience feel very cold and unwelcoming.
My entire experience with Dr. Mateen Aliniazee was exceptional from start to finish. We chose a precise, bladeless Femtosecond laser procedure paired with the advanced PanOptix pro Trifocal lens, and Dr. Mateen explained all the benefits and technology in perfect detail for this procedure. His expertise is undeniable, having now performed successful cataract surgery on five members of my family, including myself, we all trust him completely.
The surgery was quick and comfortable , and the result is nothing short of life-changing: I now have crystal-clear 20/20 vision at all distances. The entire office deserves praise; Kristy is very knowledgeable and the staff were incredibly helpful, supportive, and professional throughout the entire process. I give my highest recommendation to this outstanding surgeon and his wonderful team and the practice.
Extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. I brought my grandpa in for a scheduled eye appointment and we waited over an hour just to be seen. This is an eye clinic -- not an ER -- yet we were treated like our time meant absolutely nothing.
When he was finally taken back, I asked staff how much longer the appointment would take because I had to get back to work and we live 25 miles away. The response was a dismissive "I understand" -- no estimate, no explanation, no effort to help or communicate. Just indifference.
To make it worse, the entire visit ended up taking 3.5 hours. There is absolutely no reason a scheduled appointment should take that long, especially for an elderly patient. Delays happen, but the complete lack of communication, urgency, and respect for patients' time is unacceptable.
If you schedule an appointment here, be prepared to wait indefinitely with zero consideration for your time. I would not recommend Kovach Eye Institute to anyone
My dad had an appointment at 8:30. We arrived 10 minutes early and the doors were closed. I called and they told me they would open exactly at 8:30. They didn't open until 9:00! The receptionist didn't even apologize; she had nothing prepared because she just kept saying, "I need a moment and I'll be with you." We saw the doctor until 10:20, only for her to come in and out because they hadn't taken the necessary photos of my dad. After that, we had to wait even longer. Terrible customer service. If you can go somewhere else, please do. The lack of ethics at this place is unbelievable.
I love the entire staff at Kovatch Eye. I sat down for my exam with Dr. Yavitz and in 10 seconds flat, he had diagnosed my problem. Within three weeks I had a laser procedure and my eye was able to thoroughly see for the first time in about a year and a half. His experience goes unmatched. He explained everything with my two eyes and gave me solutions for everything. I feel like I have a comprehensive solution solution to the problem that I have with my eyes.
I am extremely happy with the care. My mother went through for cataract surgery. The staff here is amazing and caring. I like that everything was explained ahead of time and we understood the Procedure. I want to give a shout out to the two surgical nurses, Mauricio, and Martin. They both won above and beyond. They treated my mother like she was their own.
