Advanced EyeCare

Absolutely one of the worst experiences with medical personnel in my entire life. I'm not one to write reviews, especially negative ones. The female doctor rushed through my exam by just staining my eyes and did not care to listen to anything that I had to say. Told me that my eyes were dry and to try eye wash and lubricating drops. She said that I could have dry eyes. I asked if dry eye would cause severe pain from behind my eyes and into my head with excruciating pain. She said no and I should get my vision checked but it would be two months before they could see me for that and walked out the door and never came back. She never dilated my eyes as I was told they would be doing or any other extensive testing. Another staff member came in the room 5-10 minutes later and informed me that my appointment was over and I could gather my things and head to the front. I left crying with no answers. Fast forward to now and I received an MRI of my brain revealing white matter disease and significant migraine activity and a diagnosis of ocular migraines as well. I am also being sent to a specialist in St. Louis this week. Be kind to your patients and just give them a minute to hear them out. Horrible attitude and extremely unprofessional and careless doctor. The rest of the staff were absolutely phenomenal and super friendly and helpful!

Im only giving 2 stars because the staff was very friendly but I cant say much for the lady doctor. She basically rushed through my exam without diluting them to look further in my eyes. I dont think she was in the room for 2 minutes at most. Very disappointed and she made me feel unworthy of care. Just because im on medicaid doesn't give the right to treat me with disrespect. I did pay the copay of $35 and you do pay into my insurance. Never will go again.

This place messed up the appointment days a few times and ended up getting no call no showed a few times cause of that and now I can't get seen there. Tried to explain and still was told I couldn't come back. Pretty ridiculous

Best Eye Doctor Experience I've Had! I seriously can't say enough good things about Advanced EyeCare in Taylorville. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable. Everyone was so friendly, upbeat, and helpful--it honestly felt more like visiting friends than going to an appointment. The office is super clean and modern, and they run things really efficiently without making you feel rushed. The eye exam itself was very thorough, and the doctor took time to explain everything in a way that made total sense. I never felt like just another patient--there was real care and attention to detail throughout the whole visit. They also helped me pick out glasses that actually look good on me (which is not always easy!), and they didn't try to upsell anything, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was hands down the best experience I've had at any eye doctor. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending them to everyone I know!

My son was an established patient here. Tuesday he woke up with a swollen and red eye. We took him to his pediatrician to rule out pink eye. His pediatrician told us that he was either having a reaction due to allergies or he might have scratched his eye. Wednesday morning he woke up worse so we called to get a second opinion and to see if it was scratched. The receptionist supposedly called our pediatrician and was told it was pink eye. The receptionist at Advanced Eye Care, then told my husband that it was pink eye and that she could 100% guarantee it was not scratched. I called our pediatrician to try to figure out where the miscommunication was, our nurse offered to call Advanced Eye Care to speak with them and get him an appointment. The receptionist was not only rude to my husband but to our nurse as well. They scheduled our son an appointment for 1 pm on Wednesday where Dr. Craggs determined he did in-fact scratch his eye. We were told that our pediatrician does not specialize in eyes which we are fully aware of and why we were attempting to get him an appointment with someone who does specialize in eyes. Dr. Craggs also justified his nurses comments and the fact that she was rude by saying she was just following protocol and procedure by taking the word of our drs office (after telling us they aren't eye specialist). He was then very rude with my husband who was trying to speak about the way we were treated instead of showing any sort of compassion or sincerity for his employees behavior. I am very disappointed as I had seen Dr. Smothers-Champley as a child and brought my child here because I thought they were great. I never had a bad experience with Dr. Smothers-Champley but will not be returning to this office if this is how patients are treated. If we did not push for them to see our son who knows how this situation would have turned out.

This review is very late but still fresh in my mind. Dr. Smothers- Champley belittled me for having the older RK surgery done yrs ago. Unbelievable how she would talk down to a patient. Then gave me an incorrect prescription for my eye glasses.

I thought the doctors were great here very personal and seem like they take their patients. When I went to my bill, I had a few questions that I was trying to get answered. The receptionist said you "you already talked to this lady and she already told you what you owe" Very poor customer service. This was my first visit, it will be my last. Not a good way to treat new patients.
