Dr. Tavel Family Eyecare - Pyramid Place

I recently visited Dr. Tavel at the 2940 E 38th St, Suite B location, and I couldn't be more impressed. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. The office was clean, organized, and efficient, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. My eye exam was thorough and clearly explained. The doctor took the time to answer all my questions and made sure I understood every part of the process. I truly felt cared for and valued as a patient. The team also helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses, offering thoughtful suggestions without ever being pushy. The customer service here goes above and beyond, and it shows in every detail. I highly recommend this Dr. Tavel location to anyone looking for exceptional eye care and outstanding service. They've earned a lifelong patient!

While the optometrist I saw was excellent, patient, and thorough, my experience with the front office and sales staff was disappointing. The staff member who conducted pre testing was unwelcoming and lacked professionalism. Although I understand the no cell phone policy, she stood and watched me put my phone away before continuing, which felt unnecessary. My medication list was also not fully reviewed, and I had to point out specific medications myself, which raised concerns about thoroughness. While waiting to be called back, the same staff member stood behind me and appeared to look over my phone screen, which felt like an invasion of privacy. Additionally, there was little discretion in the office, as insurance information was discussed loudly in a shared space where other patients could hear. There was also confusion regarding insurance coverage, eyewear eligibility, and non prescription contacts. I was given inconsistent information and had to correct staff more than once. The copay I was quoted over the phone differed from what I was told in person and was only corrected after I raised the issue. That said, the optometrist was outstanding. She was patient, attentive, and made the exam itself a very positive experience. I hope the practice addresses the front office issues so the overall patient experience can better reflect the quality of care she provides.

Frustrating and disappointing. I bought glasses from this location and sent them back because one lens kept popping out. I dropped the glasses off and then got a call the lens was too small and the glasses needed to be sent back. I dropped off the glasses on 12/29/25. It is now 1/28/26 and i have heard NOTHING. It is just one lens- WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG? It has BEEN A MONTH AND I am without my new eyeglasses, which I need to SEE. On top of that, when I call, i get transferred to a general call center, not the store location. Why??

My first appointment was wonderful. The eye doctor did a great job. After picking out glasses and contacts they said my contacts would be there in 7 days. There was a holiday so I waited until Wednesday. I called and asked if they were there. I was on hold for a few minutes. When she returned she said they were in. ( This was a trial set to see how they would do ). I took off work 2 hours early and drove 25 minutes to get there. The associates were rude. Especially the Mexican associate who waited on me. Worst customer service. She didn't talk, apologize or have any manners to be in the service industry. After I get my items I will never return to this location. Pay attention to the details of your job. We all make mistakes, but own them.

I'm still not finished with everything here. The glasses I received provide are providing sharp vision without eyestrain. The exact prescription data was provided as a printout. I've been happy with how I've been treated in a courteous and professional manner. There were some delays in informing me when my glasses were ready for pickup; and other delays for correct fitting contacts to arrive. I'm still pleased with the treatment I've received.

I've been calling for the last week to see if my glasses were ready and they told me they should of been in but they're not let me place you on hold and call the other company so they called the company and told me the company would reach out to me in 10 min no one called so I called back same result at this point I just want my money back

My experience at Dr. Tavel was very thorough and positive. Everyone was knowledgeable and went above and beyond in their service. I couldn't have expected better.

Would not recommend Dr Tavel. My regular eye doctor was out of town and I had to get an exam before my benefits expired. I had my exam at Dr Tavel and took my prescription to my eye doctor to get frames and lenses. When I received new frames they were terrible. My eye doctor gave me another eye exam and told me Dr Tavel exam was not correct and I did not need a new prescription. My eye prescription had not changed in 6 years.
