Melissa W. Ko, MD - IU Health Neurology - Near Northside

Dr. Ko is very thorough in her approach. She is kind and makes sure she understands the problem. I was confident in her assessment of my situation. I fully recommend her to anyone needing her type of expertise.

Unfortunately, my experience here was overall quite negative. I recommend looking through her reviews on healthgrades.com, which are mixed, but specifically noting that (at present) not a single review has indicated "felt respected." During the appointment: the doctor seemed unusually tense and rushed from the outset -- then irritated that I had questions, and gave condescending, unhelpful responses. On the side of office logistics, several things went poorly: they told me to park in a blocked area that was under construction; a piece of equipment was missing from the examination room, and 4 staff took turns looking for it before they ultimately moved me to another room; I communicated with staff three days before to confirm they had acquired the records and prescription from my primary optometrist, but then during the appointment Dr. Ko said she didn't have my prescription. The upside is they they were able to get me an appointment much more quickly than my local practitioner, but I cannot recommend them otherwise.

One of the worst physicians I have ever had this misfortune of being sent to. Misdiagnosed me and when I asked to have my files sent elsewhere she stated she is the only doctor in the state (which is a lie) and said she would not transfer my case. Try anyone else, anyone.

Every IU doctor I have seen has been very knowlegeable about my health issues and very attentive and concerned about my needs.

Overall I had a positive experice with Dr. Ko and would probably see her again. The issue I have with my appointment was since Dr. Ko was already looking at my eye I asked if she saw any damage from an accident I had a few months prior. I was told I would need another appointment to discuss this issue any further. All I asked is... Do you see any damage to the cornea to my eye. It came across as milking appointments to get more money. I live over 100 miles away and I'm unable to drive there on my own and really didn't think there would be an issue to check while I was there.

Doctor Ko was phenomenal with my 10 year old son! She talked to him like he was a person & not just a patient. Very thankful that our optometrist referred us to her! I would recommend her to anyone!

Dr. Ko is the best Dr. I have ever had the pleasure to got to. She is both professional and personable. She is attentive to every word and thought I have. She truly makes you feel cared for and important to her. I can not recommend her enough!

This doctor is awesome. She is very professional but personable. She listens to every detail of your conversation. We need more doctors like her, ones that actually care about their patients. I would recommend her very highly. She deserves more than 5 stars...
