Shaohui Liu, MD - IU Health Ophthalmology - Indianapolis

Stay away,very bad attitude with patients. My husband was referred to this Dr by other Iu Dr and she was very unprofessional,rude and didn't explain anything and basically just wanted my husband out of her sight and did not want to see him or help him with vision problems,which is suppose to be her specialty. As long time patients of IU health,this has truly been a bad experience for the both of us to be treated so poorly and it is a shame that she is representing IU Health. My husband has reached out to patient advocate for help with this Dr and the horrible appointment experience,so we will see.

Dr. Liu saved my life. She discovered a freckle on my retina that others had missed. That freckle and finding where it came from led to discovering bladder cancer 5 years before I would have found it otherwise. She also replaced my cataracted right lens.

Dr Liu is kind and patient and has done everything possible to make sure I feel safe and seen and taken care of by her and her staff. They have been patient with my panic attacks. One of her nursing staff Kat has been so kind and gentle with me so much so that I wish all medical staff were more like her.

Dr. Liu is one of the best eye surgeons in the state. Her skills and experience have won great respect from her collegues. As a medical professor specializing in difficult cases, she often treats patients forwarded by other eye surgeons. I am so grateful that she has restored my clear vision.

Dr Liu has been successfully treating my severe case of dry eye for several years. Before I found her, I suffered terribly from my condition. I'm thankful for the care she and her team provide me.

I was referred to this doctor by another doctor at IU health. Dr. Liu didn't listen to what I have done for my eye since she was the 3rd doctor over the years to treat the same issue. I took all my drops, pills, etc that I've used, but she didn't care or want to hear. Was very rough looking at my eye. Said she wanted a picture, but when I went to get the picture the machine didn't work. Staff blamed me for the picture not taking. Staff acted like they just wanted to go home. Some staff that came by and offered to help were told by management no, they had to go home. This was stated in front of me. Finally after 20 mins of staring into the very bright light and having staff hold my eye open and numbed my eye they realized it wasn't me but the machine. No apology was given. I was sent back to the room for 30 minutes without anyone checking on me. Staff just stood outside the door saying they didn't want to be the one to tell the Dr. the camera was broke. Dr. Liu came back in to say "The camera's broke so we can't get a picture. I don't know what your issue is. Maybe it's a tumor." I asked if she looked at the surface of my eye as it was described as very rough by 2 other eye doctors and that's why I was there. She said it was rough but didn't think that was it. Recommended Thera Tears and gave me $2 off. The same exact eye drops I have been taking multiple times daily for 3 years, but when I showed her the baggie with the drops already in there and her assistant also said to her "that's what he has taken along with a lot of other medication" she said she didn't know and said the eye drops were all she could do. That was a 2 hour appointment. Now the office sent a Bill for $189. Rediculous, stay far away from her.

Dr. Liu is a tremendous surgeon with an awesome staff. It's such a joy to have good eyesight again. Thanks Doc! I wouldn't trust my eyes to anyone else!!

My sight is so much better. Dr. Liu did an excellent job. I would refer anyone to her care.
