Ames Vision Center

Went in because the left lense in my glasses were blurry. I don't wear my glasses much so I had gotten the prescription a few months ago and had not noticed. I went in due to when I wear them they gave me a headache. When I close my right eye and try to see out the left lens it is blurry. The right eye is completely clear. Up front I stated that I would pay for a new lense as I knew i had waited to long to address the issue. I was treated like I was making this up and was told I just had to get used to them. The person assisting me was extremely dismissive and rude. I just gave up and went somewhere else to find out that the script for my left eye was wrong. Fixed by another optometrist and business. I have been going there for years but won't anymore.

I called to ask for help with an eye issue I was having and was hoping to get in at an Ames clinic since I live near this location and my previous appointment had been in Grimes. The receptionist was extremely rude and asked why I wouldn't call the other clinic. When I informed her I was uncomfortable and had called the other clinic but they weren't open (and also 40 minutes away), she continued asking me if I could call the other clinic. Clearly they didn't want to assist with my issue and came off very unhelpful. Would not recommend.

Not my normal eye care provider but they were able to get me in immediately so I could have prescription sunglasses arrive in time for a wedding that was two weeks from my appointment day. The Dr. gave me most thorough eye exam I've had and told me what my vision is with my new prescription which has never been done for me before. I will return to Ames vision instead of my usual because they were so helpful and my sunglasses arrived in time for the wedding!!

Receptionist was very helpful in setting up insurance and ordering contacts. Dr. Roelfs is personable and genuinely cares about giving you the best eye care, not just pushing you through your appointment as fast as possible. Would reccomend to anyone.

The staff at Ames Vision Center is very knowledgeable about their clients and what frames fit them best. You can tell they really care about their clients! They are so welcoming each and every time I visit them. They are not at all pushy when I can not make a decision on a frame, and they don't get annoyed when I ask a ton of questions. I would recommend them to everyone, what a great experience!

Everyone was extremely helpful and nice. The doctor was quick with his exam but not rushing through it. The man who helped me pick out new glasses frames explained what he thought people should look for in frames and helped me try on a wide variety of frames until I had the right one. Highly recommend.

I had the most complete eye exam, the dr explained what he was looking for as we went along. But I can't say enough good things about is the gentleman who helped me to choose my frames. I can't ever see to pick, but with his amazing help, i am happier than ever. Great experience!

Received 5 star service today from both Jon, the person who answered the phone, and Dr Anderson. Not very often does the doctor hop on the phone when you call a place to get details of the problem/concern. Very impressed and will definitely revisit when I have a need for eye care.
