I was a block away from my house when I felt my glasses case fall out of my pocked onto the road. I was riding my bike so I stopped and pulled my bike to the side of the road and walked back. I picked up the case but my glasses weren't in it. I searched the road and sure enough, they were there and someone had driven oven them. It's Friday afternoon. I rode to Klauer in the hopes that they would order new ones and I'd have them in a couople of weeks. Instead, they called the company and tried to find a matching frame and told me that the lenses could work. They were scratched but not terribly so. When the company solution didn't work, I chose another set of frames and we started working on gettin new lenses except the ones she chose for me were close enough to my current pair that the lenses fit. I was out fifteen minutes later with working glasses and the promise that, if the lenses don't work, to come back in and we can order different ones later. This whole experience was going above and beyond on a Friday afternoon! Thank you for the hard work.
They were so helpful and patient.i work overnights so I wanted to get in and get out so I did. The staff was nice. The place was clean and the glasses are cheap. If you're looking for glasses come here you won't be disappointed. I'm off to bed.
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Klauer. My daughter has the kind of prescription that makes choosing glasses anything but straight-forward. Kelsey was extremely knowledgeable and was able to help my daughter find glasses that not only looked great, but worked for her prescription. The entire staff was kind and welcoming and I would absolutely recommend Klauer to anyone looking for an optical store that understands that there's more to choosing glasses than just picking a pair that you like--there's a science to getting the best fit and the staff at Klauer know how to help you find them!
I actually had just spent $400 on a pair of prescription glasses following an eye exam here with the doctor here. All around, a great experience & I thought I would refer my wife here for her eye care needs as well. She had an eye exam with Dr. Klauer as opposed to the doctor I had mine with. She was planning on ordering contacts after her exam, but asked if they'd be willing to measure her pupillary distance for eyeglasses. While she was only planning on ordering contacts, having a precise measurement of her PD would allow us to buy a backup pair of glasses wherever down the road. I understand a business, especially a small local business, needs to ensure they are protecting themselves from giving money away. But, we weren't going to be ordering glasses for her from them regardless. So, for the $400 I spent on my own glasses, the cost of each of our eye exams, and whatever the cost of her contacts would have been, in exchange for a minute of their time to measure the PD doesn't feel like I was asking too much. Dr. Klauer himself however told me I was. I will never do business with Klauer optical again, and if your reasoning for this decision was because "you're a small, locally owned business" I would have thought such a small ask would have been easily granted. This could have so easily been a 5-star review & I would have referred others here based on my own personal experience. But after the experience my wife had today, you have lost a customer (technically TWO!) & I will be submitting negative reviews on all platforms regarding this experience.
I've been going to Klauer Optical for the past 3 or 4 years, and can't recommend them enough.
Dr. Washburn is fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and totally caters to her patients. She has worked with me to refine my prescription until my vision is crystal clear--and she's great about indulging my curiosity about the process as well. Any question I've had, she's had an answer, and she's happy to talk about the finer details of optometry if you're curious.
Where Klauer really shines, though is in their staff. While I have a soft spot for Elaine (and so will anyone who has the pleasure of meeting her), I have never had bad service at Klauer, no matter who I interacted with. They are happy to let you do your own thing while looking at frames, if that's what you want, but their enthusiasm and passion really comes through when you ask for their help in making a decision about which pair (or pairs) to get.
I've spent many an hour perusing their varied styles (which update pretty frequently!), and have had a great time chatting with the staff. Their feedback is always honest, and they also have a knack for spotting frames you might not have considered that end up being the perfect fit.
Head to Klauer for your vision needs--you won't be sorry you did!
They are top notch and go above and beyond. I have been going there for 5 years. Today I broke my glasses at work and called them to tell them about my situation. They had the exact frame in their inventory and they switched out my lenses into the loaner frames and ordered new frames and they will be in on Saturday. That is what I call an outstanding experience. I also want to give a shout out to Kelsey and Lori who helped serve me yesterday. As a nurse with complicated vision problems they have always went above and beyond to meet my needs
The best optical store in town
I needed a replacement temple and called several eyeglass stores. Surprisingly, other stores don't carry replacement parts. Klauer Optical had the parts, knowledge, and tools (minor modifications were required) to identify and replace the temple and at a very reasonable cost. Moreover, the service was professional and friendly. Best of all, they're locally owned (not another corporate conglomerate vampire). I highly recommend you check them out.
We've been going to Klauer for years. They are the welcoming, friendly, kind, like going to a family visit! Their professionalism exceptional! Thanks Klauer!
