If I could give a zero star review I would. I will not be returning here. Made an appointment for my daughter. At the end of the appointment, after I was told she didn't need glasses they (the doctor and assistant or whoever does the other part of the exam) told me my daughter was not a good candidate to get her eyes dilated and they wanted to take a close up picture on a white machine to see the back of her eyes. I asked if it was required to be able to complete the appointment because they already told me she didn't need glasses. They said again that if I didn't want to do the pictures then I could have her eyes dilated but she wasn't a good candidate. So after the photos they told me my co-pay price (with insurance) and then an additional $30. I asked what for and they said for the photos of her eyes. I told them I only wanted done what would go through insurance. The doctor and front desk lady both said "If we run it through insurance first it would be $39, so we give it to you for a little cheaper". I realize it is not a huge amount of money, but I specifically asked for only what was needed to be able to run the appointment through insurance. Not every one has an extra $30 they weren't expecting to pay.

I am sharing this review to express concern about customer service at this location. I was previously a patient here but chose to switch to another eyeglass provider. Unfortunately, my son is still a current patient so I continue to interact with this office. On multiple occasions, communication has been extremely unprofessional both over the phone and in person. Calls are often disconnected after being told I would be placed on hold, and when asking simple questions, the tone of staff members can be dismissive and rude. In person, I have also experienced poor attitudes, including eye-rolling and an unpleasant tone that made interactions uncomfortable. I understand that working in a busy healthcare setting can be stressful, but respectful communication is essential, especially when dealing with patients and parents. These experiences have been disappointing. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses these concerns so that future patients and families receive the respectful and professional care they deserve.

I called for an appt because my dad sees black dots in his vision and notices 50% vision loss. Roxana was very kind and able to accommodate us with an immediate appt. Turned out he has a retina tear that could potentially lead to blindness. Dr Schrunk was very helpful and thorough with explaining his condition. We got a referral appt the next morning to get it fixed. Thank you to the team from the bottom of my heart!

Took my daughter here yesterday, completely awful visit. Spent an hour just to see someone. Then the eye doctor was upset because I didn't want to pay out of pocket for a photo & instead asked him to dilate her eyes. The photo is only $30, but I have eye insurance that didn't cover it. & that $30 i would have had to pay for myself, my husband, & my 6 kids. The doc said next time I either pay for the photos or he'll send my records somewhere else, so I'll find a different eye doctor. & to top it off, he only dilated one of my daughters eyes on accident! & didn't even comment on why only 1 eye was dilated! I noticed when I got her back home! I'll never go back. Ignore the goofy look on her face, lol she couldn't stop laughing as I was trying to get her pupil sizes in the picture.

A couple months ago i was seen in clinic for a regular vision exam. My insurance was medicaid with Nebraska, it is now Medicaid with Iowa. To which i have had previously, for years with this clinic. (Switched to Nebraska for 2.5 years, now back with Iowa) I have my checkup, regular. Routine. Nothing had changed except they dropped 1 way to test the retina & do it another way. Cool! Im pregnant, doctor & I both decide it'd be best to wait until 2ish months after birth to get new glasses as my eyes have been crazy with pregnancy. I go to checkout, have no co-pay. I get 1 exam yearly. All the sudden the bill is $30. Not a big deal upfront as i assume it was a co-pay. I ask about it. Apparently insurance *now* refuses to PAY for a certain part of the routine exam unless you have a diagnosis at the time of appointment; then they'll pay it. (Backwards??? Whatever insurance is wonky sometimes) I pay it because i decide to call insurance & speak to the clinic manager. I do. They refund the money & tell me i still owe $30 but when i get to it i can as money is tight. How have i been coming here since 2016-2017 with the same exact exam yearly, without charge for this 1 routine exam item? Also lets add its not declinable. Apart of their contract i was told is you must have this done for complete routine checkips per policy. So the policy was changed. It was NOT policy the last time i was seen. The 8 years i've been at this clinic & have not had an issue. So insurance no longer covers it. They WERE AWARE of that, never mentioned it but wanted me to pay $30 for it? While its not declinable. Unnaceptable. Almost fraudulant like & just dishonestly innapropriate. As much as i loved this clinic, im simply not condoning this behavior & will find care elsewhere.

Extremely upset been going here for years and I call to change my daughters appointment because it's the first week of school I want to change it to a different day or time and the lady I spoke to goes oh no no no we cant do that we only have one eye dr ok I understand if Dr's get sick it happened but according to this lady these Dr's knew they where gonna be out for a few weeks to a month if not longer why not replace the Dr's til they come back instead of having one eye dr available what's to happen when an emergency case comes in and he's has no time to see that party Extremely upset I got a different eye dr

Just went here for a pair of vision appointments to get some tests done after my PCP recommended I see an eye doctor because of migraines. I imagine they wanted to be thorough (which I appreciated), because they ran a lot of tests. My first appointment was very long, but I didn't really mind because everyone I interacted with at the clinic was so friendly and professional. Dr. James seemed very knowledgeable and had a great attitude while explaining everything to me. Front desk was courteous and I liked how cozy the waiting area was. This is not a place with a cold, clinical, harshly-lit waiting area.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Dr. Schrunk was very calming and explained everything about the procedure I was having. The front staff and nurses got me in right away even without an appointment and were super nice and accommodating!
