Recently I went in for an eye exam and to get glasses. When I went in, I was immediately greeted by the front desk. Everyone was so nice. I was able to be seen right away. Dr. Dittemore was very personable and after we got through the exam, he answered all my questions thoroughly and explained my next appointment. I picked my frames (three pairs) out of 100's and the man helping me pick what type of lenses ( I didn't get his name) was very nice and explained what choices I could get. Any time I called, Jonathan would answer the phone. So pleasant and helpful and every time I went in, he was always smiling and remembered my name. So glad I chose The Eye Doctors.
I had the pleasure of being seen by Dr Dittemore for my annual eye exam this year. Absolutely awesome experience! He took the time to explain everything about the tests to me and really put my mind at ease. Even more wonderful is that he's no stranger to ocular myasthenia gravis. My previous visits were less productive because eye doctors had no idea what was happening to my eyes. All of the early signs of my ocular myasthenia gravis were missed. Great service. Great staff. Very clean and organized building. Eyeglass frames are pricey though.
If I could give this eye doctor's office a zero rating, I would. I'm sharing my experience in the hope that other eye care professionals might weigh in on whether this reflects appropriate standards of care and customer service for a medical practice.
I scheduled a new patient annual exam at an eye doctor's office in Junction City, KS after recently moving to the area. During my appointment, a new staff member completed my initial exam. Later, someone else had to redo part of it after realizing no one had asked whether I was wearing contact lenses at the time--first oversight that should have warned me.
When I met with the doctor, the exam equipment repeatedly fogged up during the exam, causing blurred vision when trying to read the letters. I kept reporting it to the doctor and I was made to feel as though the problem was somehow my fault. At the conclusion of the exam, I was told my vision had changed and was given two different prescription options to try.
However, when I returned to the front office to order trial lenses, I was informed they wanted to obtain my previous prescription from my former provider. After signing the necessary release, I later received a call asking whether I was doing well with my current contacts. Ultimately, they reordered my old prescription--the same one I had before--despite having told me during the exam that my vision had changed. I had just used my annual insurance benefit yet I ended up with the same prescription.
In addition, I decided to give the office another chance and ordered a pair of glasses, paying out of pocket. When I tried them on, the prescription was clearly incorrect--my vision was blurry. I was then informed that returning them would require paying a $40 restocking fee, even though the issue was due to an inaccurate prescription, not any fault of my own.
Overall, this experience was frustrating and disappointing. Between the inconsistent exam process, conflicting information about my prescription, and being charged additional fees to correct what appears to be an error on their part, I cannot recommend this office. I would strongly encourage others to carefully consider their options before choosing this provider.
These five stars are for Jonathan who went above and beyond to get my billing issue taken care of. He had a great personality and was willing to do whatever it took to help me. Even though I feel that the Eye Doctors optometrist office is diminishing in their service, Jonathan was a breath of fresh air.
I just stopped in and need to get an adjust and a screw tighten for my wife's glasses. Johnathan was working the front desk and helped me immediately. He got the glasses adjusted as needed and cleaned perfectly and was able to get me an answer about a second pair we are waiting on. If you stop in say hi to him.
Roy Lewis , is a phenomenal certified technician. He took his time with me and made me completely comfortable when picking my frames. He explained in detail the recent promotions and the benefits of my vision insurance coverage and the additional fees to want I desired that my insurance would not cover . He was just wholeheartedly honest and his smile is infectious.
I got a last minute appointment for Thursday at 12:30pm during my lunch hour. When I got there I was taken back to the room within 10 minutes and I did mention I was on my lunch hour and she said not a problem and they would have me out quickly. I was sitting in that room until 1:20pm waiting for Dr. Irvin. I could hear them laughing and talking in the room next to me. Not quite sure if she was with a patient but I could hear personal conversation. When Dr Irvin enters the room she does not apologize for the long wait time, it felt like she had no regard for my time. Which is very rude. Regardless if I wasn't on my lunch hour I still would be upset about it taking that long. The only part of appointment that was good is when I was getting checked in and checked out. The front staff was lovely and even Roy apologized for taking so long. Which wasn't even his fault the system to VSP wasn't working correctly but he still had customer service.
Normally had good service here but when I called and left a message to schedule an appointment, no one ever returned my call. I tried calling again a couple days later and mentioned how no one returned my call and the receptionist just ignored my statement, asking for my info. when there are so many other options, and better service, I will go elsewhere from now on. Not to mention they have zero openings for 8 weeks.
