Everyone that worked with me was so nice and helpful. Everything was explained very well. Any questions I had were answered. I didn't get the names of the first two young ladies that worked with the machines to get pictures of my eyes. They were very knowledgeable. Juliana Wehmeyer was very helpful explaining surgery and options. Barb Elfers was great at setting up my schedule for surgery and follow up visits. Dr. Chu explained what he thought was my best option and answered my questions.

I waited 1.5 hours for my appointment. No one said a word, doctor came in, no apologies, no nothing. Just checked my eyes, about 2 minutes, said looks ok, see you in 6 months. I'm very agitated & aggravated. I waited all that time for 5 to 6 minutes with Dr & no explanation. I don't mind waiting for 20 minutes or so, even longer if they would acknowledge I waited over an hour.

Dr. Chu and his associates are wonderful for my brother who can't hear and only sees with one damaged eye. He is knowledgeable, swift but eager to answer any questions on concerns or issues and he is very kind. The wait is sometimes long, but we come over an hour do see Dr. Chu and it is worth it.

I was really impressed with Dr. Chu. We come from out of town and are grateful Dr. Chu agreed to see us. It is so refreshing to talk with such a confident physican and one who is very thorough and willing to explain everything he is doing and the reasons why. We've had a bad experience before and I only wish we had learned of Dr. Chu earlier. Anyone considering Dr. Chu I have to say you will be in very good hands.

About Fred Chu, M.D.

Fred Chu, M.D. is the Director of the Glaucoma Service at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and Co-director of the Glaucoma Service at the University of Cincinnati. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and was introduced to medicine by his father who was also an ophthalmologist. He completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University and then returned to St. Louis to earn his medical degree from Washington University. He completed both his General Surgery internship and Ophthalmology residency at Rush University in Chicago. He then completed his fellowship in glaucoma at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Chu is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
