Dr. Schertzinger is the best and most thorough eye doctor I have ever had. I've been seeing an eye doctor for 60 years. He shows not only his expert knowledge about my eyes, but cares about my eye health.
His office staff is very helpful also. Thank you Leslie, Mary, and Dr. Schertzinger!!!
Ohhhh I haven't been here since 2020, thought I'd give it another try. Save your time, your money, and your patience and go elsewhere.
This guy is rude. RUDE. Has lots of Christian emblems and free Bible, but acts the opposite of a Christian IMO. And his strong political views are everywhere, not professional at all.
He didn't care to look in my file, act like he'd never seen me. Hateful, impatient, took a call WHILE I WAS IN THE ROOM WITH HIM. How he is not fired if beyond me. Kept dismissing my eye issues, even though I was under the care of a retinal specialist and they told me what was wrong (MRI, blood work, lots of tests) & old doc here says all of that isn't true. And when I asked what did he think was wrong, his exact statement was "it ain't getting any worse, so it don't matter"
Don't matter huh??
I'll stick to my specialist who has compassion and care. This doc is a waste of time (and boy will you spend time in there!!).
I left pissed!!
I leave this review for my fellow migraine sufferers because we deal with enough unknowns, but also for the rest of the community. Usually I would just go on about my day, but it's been on my mind..
I read the reviews for the Walmart Eye Center because I wasn't educated that there's a separate name for this place. Otherwise, I might have booked elsewhere.
I made an appointment due to my migraine interfering with my vision. The receptionist was very sweet and asked if I go to church or had anyone praying for me, which I appreciated. I love that they will give you a free Bible if you don't have one.
What I don't like is that when I booked the appointment, I wasn't told about payment options (fee if you use a card, discount if you use cash ).
The doctor himself was very rude. He maintained my eye issue is not caused by my migraine. I explained I have been to neurologists at UK and Vanderbilt along with other places throughout my life. It definitely is associated with migraines. He did not ask if the migraines still come when I'm wearing my last prescription glasses. I didn't take them in because I couldn't find the purse I had stuck them in and was running out of time. He also couldn't answer why my vision changes for the better (and significantly) when my migraine goes away. (Common sense answer is it's the migraine).
He also took some sort of call in the middle of my appointment on his cell phone. It wasn't that long of a conversation, but I wouldn't treat a client like that; at least not without an explanation.
My appointment was at 2:40. I didn't get called back until 3:17 to do the preliminary eye imaging. (That lady was also very nice and understanding I was having eye issues, she was very patient). Then I had to return to the waiting room and wait more for the doctor to call me back. He was rude by making comments and dismissing my concerns.
He did answer my questions. I guess if you're fine with someone who is blunt and doesn't do well with people, you're good to go. I haven't gotten my glasses in yet, but if I can't see out of them, I'll be back to update. I didn't leave crying or anything, but I was angry and irritated I spent $90 to be treated like that.
I noticed others note delayed appointments. Funny thing is they have a cancellation policy that if you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, they charge you $25. (I didn't read the whole thing, so confirm with them any exceptions).
Update: the prescription glasses didn't work. I ordered two pairs. The eye doctor refused to see me again and told me just to go back to the neurologist. Basically, I wasted the money I paid him.
I have complete confidence in Dr Schertzinger. I'm not looking for a charming personality in my medical providers. But the doc has always been very personable to me. I seek competence, and I truly feel Dr Schertzinger is highly qualified. I appreciate that he takes the time necessary to deal with my eye health concerns. The office staff is helpful and also competent. I won't go anywhere else.
This a most caring ophthalmologist. He's gotten me "emergency " contacts when i lost or tore em. He's very thorough and takes care of his patients.
This was my first and last time seeing Schertzinger!! he was extremely rude and I left there crying. Immediately coming into the room and sitting in the chair he speaks to me like a child and says "uh, who told you to take your glasses off?! Put them back on!" Proceeds to mock me for not goin to the eye doctor in x amount of years.. kept making smart comments when I would answer his questions.. implied several times that my answers weren't correct or adding up when I would say "it's blurry or I can't see that" I felt like I was being interrogated rather than helped. Please find an eye doctor that has common respect!
Edit*** ordered glasses with the prescription he gave me, waited 2 weeks for them to come in and guess what?! I can't see through them at all! Waste of time and money!
I'm here currently with my friend and I've always come to this eye doctor because I've never had any issues. But today is ridiculous; the appt is at 10am and we are just sitting here at 11:10 mind the fact we showed up 10 mins early.
Staff is amazing, friendly, and patient. Doc made me cry...with joy-while helping me find the right contacts for me to read up close. He will take his time with you if you ask questions and have concerns.ive been going here for years and would not consider going elsewhere. Thanks Team!
