Vision First: Kristen Rabaut, OD

I had been using this office, specifically Dr. Rabaut, for my annual vision exam for over 10 years. They have been great up until my most recent exam in November of 2023. They used the Optos and charged me for it even though the doctor didn't look at the images. Also, the doctor wrote me a prescription and scheduled a follow up exam. I found out my insurance requires a prior authorization be filled out before they will cover eye drops. I called VisionFirst to explain this and the woman I spoke with said she would take care of it. Two weeks went by and my insurance still had no record of a prior authorization being filled out. I called the office and told them I was still waiting on a PA to get the eye drops and the woman said she would take care of it that day. Spoke with my insurance and they received the PA but said the prescription would have to be re-submitted. I spoke with VisionFirst and was told the eye drops would cost in upwards of $1500. The woman told me she would speak with Dr. Rabaut to see if she had an alternative solution and either she or the doctor would call me back the next day. Fast forward to February and I still have yet to receive a phone call and the prescription was never re-submitted. I called to cancel the follow up exam which was scheduled for 2/10 and I was told they didn't have any record of my appointment (pics attached of schedule card. I won't be back.

Dr Rabaut is always very thorough and easy to talk with. I also like the way all of the staff is welcoming and willing to answer questions. We have been going to Vision First for over 20 years and never disappointed.

Got new glasses and they was wrong went in to get this fixed and the ladies was whispering about me and how she knew I'd be back. When I asked if there was an issue she was like no we're good! People wanna whisper but when approached it's always nothing. Not professional, couldn't fix my other glasses when they broke said there was nothing they could do and just put electrical tape on it. I will no longer do business with them.

When I first began to see Dr Koopman for both excessive dry SPK eyes and also MGD where the oil glands in my eye lids were clogged I was in really bad shape and was suffering every day. Dr Koopman began using the Ilux procedure on me and also started me on Miebo and as of my last visit she is actually leaving it up to me when I need her again, my eyes are that much better. She has been the most amazing doctor and is also a dear friend now. If anyone is having these same problems please give her a call and go see how amazing she really is .

My first time at VISIONFIRST... first appointment was great. Dr was very nice & thorough. But went today to pick up my glasses.. paid the balance on them and she gave me the glasses and told me to try on and if they needed adjustments someone would help me.. for as much as I paid for these glasses.. someone should have had me try on and made the necessary adjustments.. I was not happy and will not be back there..They are lucky they got 1 star.. I will NOT ever refer anyone I know to them.

Best customer service. Tara (front desk) just customer serviced the heck out of me! Told her I couldn't see out of the contact I had. She was able to fix it quickly gave me some trial contacts, her extension, and told me to call after I tried the new ones. thank you so much. 10/10 will be back.

If your eye problems are due to Sjogrens syndrome , this is the office to visit. Dr. Rabaut is the doctor to see. You'll find her knowledgeable and skilled in the treatment option. She also has friendly and competent staff. I strongly encourage you to visit Vision First Middletown!

Visit with doctor was good. But they told me glasses would be in between 10-14 business days and I would get a call when they arrived. On day 17 I finally went into the store after calling other times and they arrived that day. Mind you it was 15 minutes before they close on a Friday. So we're they just going to not call me and make me wait additional time ? Very unprofessional and will not be coming back to this location.
