As I've only seen an optometrist in the past, I wanted a recommendation for a more comprehensive exam with an ophthalmologist.
On October 5, from Greece, I phoned AAEC to make an appointment with Dr. Bowles after noticing an abrupt increase in floaters in my right eye, first presenting on September 23. I was told the first available appointment with Dr. Bowles was Nov 7.
Dr. Bowles was dismissive when I asked questions and reprimanded me that I didn't come "immediately" with floater change as "John wrote down that I had them for three months". John was wrong, regardless of what "he wrote down" ... My call to AAEC was made within 12 days of onset and after scouring my peers for a recommendation, AND I was out of the country.
The portal is extremely user-unfriendly -- can't send a message because the required "provider" drop down menu does not offer any providers, only "-select-", rendering it useless. Even the link saying "provide feedback on our portal" is "unavailable" when clicked.
When I read my provider notes to my husband (who was there with me at the appointment) his comment was, "This must be for a different patient". There was no discussion of the things in the notes and no diagnoses given or explained. According to Dr. Bowles in the exam room, "Your eyes are in great health".
How does one send an email to the practice?
I have been a professional airline pilot my entire adult life and the dismissive attitude and thinly veiled professionalism is inexcusable. These notes that are now in my file were not discussed with me and if they are for another patient, they need to be corrected and removed.
I am beyond appreciative to Dr. Boles and his staff. My eye issues , when I walked into his lovely office, were almost intolerable.
I had been misdiagnosed by another practice for over a year.
I finally achieved positive results in reference to my eye health.
The office is not just run efficiently ( they answer the phone when you call!) , everyone is so friendly. The nurse practitioner , Beth, was absolutely the best! I'm actually looking forward to my next visit! Don't hesitate to join his practice. Warmly, Joani
I've been extremely impressed with the way AAEC has handled all of visual needs. They are delightful to deal with very responsive to all my questions and concerns. Dr Boles and his entire staff are very friendly and so easy to talk to. I never feel rushed when Dr Boles speaks to me during my visits. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr Boles and his staff. Thank you for your support.
Dr. Boles was our doctor for years and our experience was always excellent. HOWEVER, we will not be going there again because his office staff, particularly John, are rude, uncaring and could care less about any isssue. There is no way to get in touch with or leave a message for Dr. Boles, unheard of, to let him know about how we have been treated.
READ RESPONSE BELOW--NOT FROM DR.BOLES I AM SURE.
It totally ignores the rudeness and curtness from staff. This is not the first time either.
This is a great office when it comes to the clinical staff. However, I am stuck with a $200+ bill when they made an error in the filling order of my two insurance plans. After calling the billing dept to try and get this corrected, they informed me that there is nothing they can do since it is past the timely filing date. I understand that insurance will not want to pay if the claim is submitted past a certain time frame, but I should not be at fault when the office submitted the claim inappropriately. I was never notified that my insurance denied the claim and was not contacted to give the correct filling order. I will not be returning to this office.
Dr. Bowles is a genius. However, his bedside manner can be atrocious. Don't be fooled. He is an amazing doctor/surgeon, and his Nurse Practitioner, Beth, is a sweetheart.
Trust your eyes to Dr. Bowles. Even though you have had them for 50 years, he knows your eyes better than you do.
As always your office was extremely professional and friendly. Your timely appointment reminders are always welcome. My short waiting time in your office was greeted by your office staff and then 3 technicians who did preliminary eye tests before seeing Dr Boles. They were all very kind and considerate as they invited me from one exam room to the other. Your modern testing equipment never fails to impress. Finally, I was greeted by Dr Boles. He always takes his time to explain the testing results and answer any concerns. I'm very happy to know the health of my eyes are in his hands over the past 8 years. I told him his office runs like a fine Rolex watch. I even received a follow up call the next day to ask about my visit. Your office always goes above and beyond. Looking forward to seeing you next year. Thank you.
I was told by my last HMO provider that cataracts surgery , you rarely see better than 20/40 . Dr. Boles did mine yesterday and I am at 20/25 !!! . So happy I found him ! , thank you United Healthcare for listing them ! . It is nice to find quality doctors !
