Alex is an incredible practitioner and his shop Look felt incredibly safe to visit even during the height of COVID. He is hospitable and engaged, and I found my perfect pair of frames. Alex's craftsmanship is high quality as well as unique, and he's committed to finding the right frames for every one of his visitors. On top of all that, the shop has a drum kit and great vibes. Main Street in Maynard is cozy and while you're there you should go visit Lk, you won't regret it!

My whole family has been fitted for our glasses from Alex for the last 10 years. Alex and Trish do a fantastic job helping us select frames and and finding the right lenses for our glasses. Alex provides such top notch service, that we travel 50 minutes each way to get our glasses from Alex since we moved from Acton to Brookline a few years ago. I highly recommend going to look optical.

I cannot recommend Alex enough. During the pandemic he was able to work with me and get me a great pair of glasses. Then just recently part of the side broke off. I emailed him and within an hour he said to come by. Replaced the frame with a new one, free of charge, no questions asked. Can't beat the amazing service. Highly recommend!

We started going to Look Optical after moving to Stow in 2014. From the first visit, we found Alex, Trish, and the team to be warm and inviting. The store was clean and well-organized, and the glasses selection was superb. Both my husband and I wear contacts, as needed, and in this field, we found Look Optical to be heads-and-tails above the competition. Alex did a contact lens evaluation on both of us, at our initial appointment. He measured the shape of our eyes, and re-checked our prescriptions, among other things. He had numerous varieties of contacts in stock, and, based on his measurements, was able to recommend and trial the best contact brand and prescription for our eyes. I have chronically dry eyes, and he knew the products so well that he was able to recommend contacts that not only met my astigmatism prescription needs, but also balanced my prescription with my need for a thin contact to help with my dry eyes. In the 15 years before going to Look Optical, I had never found a contact that was comfortable. He got it right on the first try. Recently, we moved to Maine. After visiting an optometrist and optician here, I realized that I needed to return to Alex, and his standard of care; after 5 appointments with my local optometrist, the fit of my contacts still wasn't right. I setup an appointment to drive the 4.5 hours to see Alex, and it was well worth it. The contacts that he recommended fit perfectly, and the clarity was better than the last 5 trials I'd received locally. He worked closely with me, as he always does, to find the right fit, and was willing to ship trials, and my order, to us in Maine. I also felt safe being at Look Optical during the pandemic. He is operating by appointment only, and is constantly cleaning/sterilizing. Since I have a child that is at high-risk for COVID-19, I was extremely grateful for his extra attention to detail and commitment to his customers. I know that this is a wordy review, but I wanted to share just how much Alex, and the Look Optical Team, have helped my family. I will continue to be a patron of his practice and business for as long as it is available.

Alex Thayer runs a great local business. My teenage son and I both have glasses from Look Optical and we are very pleased. Great selection, great service, and Alex cares about delivering a quality product. I've been wearing glasses since I was about 7, and this was the most positive experience I've ever had with an optician. I'll be going back to get some sunglasses. I first discovered Look Optical about 8 or 9 years ago after I moved to Maynard, and it has become the only place I will ever shop for my eyewear. I have not only found a beautiful selection and quality of eyeglass frames (at a fair price), but the owner, Alex has been both extremely helpful and knowlegeable in the selection process. It's obvious that he truely cares about his customer's happiness, and his integrity and kindness shines through every experience. I also had the pleasure of meeting his associate, Trish a few months ago when I needed my glasses adjusted. She did a great job of getting my glasses to fit better, and I also enjoyed our conversation. I left there feeling a bit lighter after a rough day. Even if you don't live in or near Maynard, Look Optical is worth the the drive! BTW: he is still providing many services safely during the pandemic. Check it out.

Amazing in this day & age to find an honest optician that will tell you if you don't even need new glasses or not! He does not want to sell you anything if you don't need it! Even if you have insurance And go elsewhere,you will have to pay the deductible, etc., so you'll be out of pocket regardless, and they will be happy to take your money. Alex will tell you what you need straight up, or what you don't need straight up. Amazing good old fashioned service which is why he is so highly regarded in the area. Thank you Look Optical for being a non corporate boutique shop that provides client centered services & your own custom designed frames too. Way cool...great experience!

Since first visiting Look several years ago, I've gone nowhere else for my optical needs. Alex has the care and attention to detail that I look for, as well as a wide variety of frame styles and price points. He's friendly and inviting without being artificial - truly an example of why you should shop local for precision and service.
