My husband went in for what was supposed to be a routine, annual eye exam covered by our VSP vision insurance. He had no symptoms, complaints, or existing diagnoses (as noted on his medical records we requested), he just needed a regular checkup and prescription update. The visit itself seemed fine, but we were shocked to later receive a bill processed through medical insurance instead of vision. After reviewing the medical records, it's clear the reason for the visit was indeed a routine wellness exam between the codes provided and the doctor's note to follow up in one year for a "comprehensive exam," with no treatment or urgent medical issues identified. Yet someone at the practice later amended the record and added a diagnosis code (H25.13 - age-related nuclear cataract) that, when used as the "primary diagnosis," allows them to bill through medical insurance--despite this not being the purpose of the visit. We've since requested that the claim be rebilled properly through vision, especially since VSP clearly covers both the wellness exam and retinal imaging that were performed. So far, we've received no reasonable explanation from the office and are deeply frustrated by what feels like a deliberate attempt to bill in a way that brings in more money from insurance--at the patient's expense. I've since filed a report with the state Attorney General's office and will escalate further if this isn't resolved soon. Patients should be able to trust their doctors to code and bill ethically--not manipulate the system to maximize revenue. I would strongly caution others to double-check what your visit is really being billed as, and ask questions before agreeing to services. Very disappointing.

I rarely write reviews, but this time I felt like I had to. It was my first visit to this eye clinic. Before the appointment I made sure to submit all of my insurance details. The amount I was eventually charged was much bigger than I expected. I started calling their billing department, and discovered that they didn't apply my insurance. The mistake was made on their end, but I had to make so many calls and waited almost for 2 months for them to finally issue the refund. Every call I made, I learnt something new about my case, and was asked to wait. Honestly, it felt like a scam; very unprofessional. I would not recommend this clinic.

I had a very disappointing experience with Eyecare Specialist due to their unfair billing practices. I scheduled a routine eye exam for a glasses prescription, which should have been covered by my VSP vision insurance with a $10 copay. However, they refused to bill VSP and instead billed my medical insurance because the doctor observed early cataracts--something I never requested testing or treatment for. As a result, I was charged $401, with only $13.77 covered, leaving me a $387.23 bill that should have been covered under my vision plan. When I questioned this, the billing manager refused to submit the claim to VSP, despite my repeated requests. This practice feels misleading and financially burden some to patients. I have since filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office regarding their billing practices. If you plan to visit this office, be sure to clarify upfront how they will bill your visit to avoid unexpected charges.

My wife and I had back to back appointments we arrived together and were greeted by the front desk who were very pleasant. My wife and I were happy to see that it wasn't just another Optometrist factory. Dr Micley listened was on time and was professional. Great experience with this office.

Everything went great. I waited about 10 minutes. Went in,did test on 2 machines and my eye specialist came in the room in a out 5 minutes, told me the test were great. Checked my eyesight and then put in drops to be able to see thee entire eye. Dr.Micley is great

The staff at Eye Care Specialist are exceptional From the moment they took me in for my surgery, I received great care and professional courtesy. Communicating at all times with me pre and post surgery. Dr. Mills is just awesome. I was very impressed and extremely satisfied with my results after cataract surgery.

On a recent appointment at the office of Dr. H. Mills, I was greeted and treated with the upmost courtesy and respect. I was seen in a timely manner and witnessed others being treated the same! That is why, I highly recommend this office for your most important Eye Care!

The eye care is great. Administratively they could use a little improvement. I had tried to call 3 times to verify my appointment, and there was no answer and no way to leave a message. I then drove there, and the office was dark and locked (11:30 am on a Monday).
