Dr. Del Plato is thorough in her examinations, and she remembers everything about my eyes and my health. I suffer from glaucoma, and one of her prescriptions caused a substantial drop in the pressure of my eyes, more or less arresting the progress of the disease. In addition, her office -- Lexington Eye Associates -- is extremely well run: appointments are easy to get and waiting times during sessions are minimal.
90+ minutes for an eye check is a long time. This was a check in from an eye surgery a year+ ago. They had a lower person try to do all the tests on my eyes and she decided that she was not of the knowledge level to tell if my eyes were ok because of my history and that I should see the doctor that did the surgery (duh). So about an hour later, I finally got to see the doctor who then redid many of the tests that the lower person had already done. I really should have just seen the doctor from the start and not wasted an hour of my time , but guessing the same thing will happen next time.
Liked their spacious new office. Setting up appointment was easy and staff quite supportive. Dr. McCann was my optimetrist. She did a very thorough assessment and took time to address all my questions. Would definitely recommend.
This is all my opinion , I had several terrible experiences there! Avoid at all costs! At my very first consult /exam I informed them that in the past I had an allergic reaction to one of the drops that they put into my eye. That was promptly ignored, Subsequent visits, at least nine or 10 times over the years, I reminded them every single time that I had an allergy to some compound in the drops that they use. And every single morning after my visit, I woke up to my eyes, swollen shut , they never did any research to determine what element I was allergic to , I had to actually come up with a suggestion that there was possibly a common ingredient that went through all the drops and perhaps that's what I was allergic to. They ignored me and continued using the exact same dilation/ dye and I continued waking up with my eyes, swollen shut . Then I had cataract surgery preformed by a female Dr.- at Lexington eye. The first surgery on my right eye went very smoothly, as I was in the "holding room " prior to going into the operatory, I was given a valium or a lorazepam, To relax me before going into having the surgery. Everything went great. I felt nothing. I was relaxed and I left there Very happy. I understand you have to be awake during the Cataract Removal procedure, But I was given enough sedative to be relaxed and everything went fine
Then it came to my left eye cataract surgery, The appointment just prior to my surgery. I advocated for myself and asked Dr. why I had to pay $700 for glasses that did absolutely nothing and that they refused to take back and why wouldn't they look into what I am allergic to, and why they continued on the same path with the same results every morning after the appointment, I was frustrated that nobody was listening to me. In my opinion, it set her off and she was not happy that I was questioning and advocating for myself. So the day comes for my second surgery for cataracts on my left eye. This time I was in the waiting room alone, no nurse or anybody came in to check on me or offer me a relaxant. I was very nervous as I think anybody would be when having surgery to your eye. As I was Being wheeled into the operatory for the surgery, I told them several times that I had not been given any Valium or lorazepam, Whichever it was that they gave me the first time and I was wide awake and extremely nervous. Well, evidently, in my opinion, Doctor was still angry that I advocated for myself, or simply was having a bad day and took her frustrations out on me, she refused to give me anything to relax, she was yelling at me to sit still stop moving my eye. Which is kind of difficult when you're nervous and you can see everything that's happening to you and you are well aware of your surroundings. Then approximately 2 months post surgery I received a letter from Dr. stating that I was no longer a patient there and would have to pay an exorbitant amount of money if I wanted my records.
I made a formal complaint to her supervisor, to no avail.
In my opinion Lexington Eye has prioritized money over patient care and as far as cataract surgery I believe that it's become a conveyor belt to see how many they can get through in a day. Kind of like the Walmart of eye care!
Photos are just one example of what my eyes looked like after every visit!
Shannon is great. Professional, efficient, and explained everything she was doing and asking me to do. I learned a lot and had a good appointment.
My experience seeing Dr. Nina Farivari was been outstanding! I couldn't ask for a better doctor. She has excellent rapport with her patients. She is warm, kind and seeks to truly understand patients' concerns. She explains conditions in a way that is simple and straightforward.
The team she works with is also fabulous.
From start to finish , my experience was
Timely, professional and filled w very nice and helpful individuals! The young man who "admitted" me doing the pre-exam eye measurements could not have nicer,! He was
warm and efficient. (Jacob, Jordan ??) Stephanie in the eyeglasses area was cordial, helpful and knowledgeable and quick to pick up on the style needed and or wanted. And then Dr. McCann -- very warm, professional and informative-- easy to be with . All in all, Lex Eye , in my experience, is made up of superb, smart and lovely people!
It has been a pleasure working with Dr. Mullon over the last eight years with my boys! Service is great. They do run a little behind at times.
