The staff was very helpful and friendly. They were very patient with my daughters and I as we picked out glasses. Emrys radiated patience, kindness and a sincere willingness to help my kids and I. Again, a few of the staff members helped us, they were kind, helpful and patient. When it was time to pickup my glasses less than a week later, Emrys once again helped me with necessary adjustments to make sure I was happy with the fit , feel and comfort of my glasses before I left. The positivity and kindness of all the staff that we talked with made us feel very comfortable with our whole experience. We will definitely be returning again!
This is the very best place in Holland to get glasses and contacts. Not only are the prices SO reasonable (I was paying over $400/ pair of glasses after insurance between my prescription and all the extras), but also the people are knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and fun!! They give good ideas and advice about glasses and I always enjoy working with everyone at this place. This last time, my tech was Emrys and they were so thorough, fun, and just easy to work with! Who goes to get glasses and has a great time? This girl, at America's Best in Holland!
I've been coming to this location since they opened and have always had good experiences. I even came in in person to schedule my appointment and provided my VSP insurance at that time. I'll take some responsibility here -- I assumed everything was still in-network because for over 15 years I've never had an issue with vision coverage at this location. I didn't double-check my new plan, and that part is on me.
However, nothing was mentioned to me during scheduling about my insurance being out of network, and that's where the frustration comes in. On the day of my appointment, I checked in, filled out paperwork, had the exam, and picked out glasses -- only then to be told that my plan was out of network and would cover very little. If this had been communicated upfront, I would have taken the time to look into my options before the appointment.
When I brought up the cost issue, I was told that my prices would be "more anywhere else," which turned out not to be true. I ended up taking my prescription and ordering the same Oakley frames from Eyeconic (a VSP company) for almost half of what America's Best quoted me.
To be clear, the exam itself was great -- just like every other visit. No complaint with the doctor or quality of care. My issue is with the lack of transparency about insurance coverage before the appointment. A simple heads-up would've saved time, frustration, and the need to shop elsewhere.
I had a wonderful experience today at America's Best. Everyone was very inviting, professional, kind, warm and caring. Dr. Margritz was amazing (she even helped check me in!) and Emrys who assisted me with checkout and selecting eyewear was spectacular. I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing them again. A loyal customer has been made.
I bought two pair of glasses here. You can order them with or without what I believe they call "scratch resistant". I ordered the scratch resistant, they are not, at all. I only clean my glasses with lens cleaner cloths and I've never had a pair of regular glasses, readers, or sunglasses that have scratched from cleaning them this way. It makes me wonder if they even gave me what I ordered. I went in to talk about what I purchased but they would not back anything. My first pair of glasses got so bad it was an eye strain to wear them. I'm now on my second set and I'm in the same boat. This is ridiculous. I've never lost them and I take good care of them. Yet, I'm going to have to buy more glasses because of their terrible lens quality. I do not suggest buying your glasses here. Go to a more reputable and local eye doctor that you trust.
I arrived from out of state and managed to break my glasses frame the moment I stepped into my hotel room. Without my glasses, I'm essentially a bat navigating by sound alone. I walked in, and despite the office being incredibly busy, everything came together immediately. With expert help choosing new frames (thank goodness), I walked out with glasses I absolutely love and an unexpected but valuable lesson on why men shouldn't call women "dude." Message received!
Thanks again America's Best, Holland!
After a great eye exam and a wonderful contact lens class, I certainly wasn't expected to be treated with this level of ineptitude today. We went back for the contact lens recheck and were directed to wait afterwards to sign the paperwork. When we finally after a 40-minute wait, we're asked to sign the paperwork, the person taking care of us had the insurance incorrect, the prescription was not printed as I requested, and it was not ready to go. Asked them to call me back when they had things organized. They quickly called me back and I said I'd be happy to come in & anytime. That's when the person started to argue with me about the fact that I would have to wait if I came back and I couldn't just sign the paper. I wrapped up the conversation by saying if I could just come back and sign the paper I'll be happy to make the purchase. In 15 minutes later an assistant manager called me and said they would refuse to sell contacts to me because I had yelled at the person over the phone. When in fact, I never raised my voice, although I did share my frustration over having to wait, not having the work done that they said they were going to do, errors in the interpretation of my insurance, and then being told I would have to wait again possibly another hour when the paperwork I had asked for wasn't prepared or the insurance wasn't interpreted accurately. In my mind. It's not my fault that they didn't know how to interpret the insurance policy and I shouldn't have had to wait or wait again. I find it to be peculiar that they are quite proud of firing me as a customer. It makes me wonder if I'm not the right type of person for this place. When I told them I would be happy to come in and sign the paperwork and make the purchase. They refused such and said that their manager and district manager would not care.
The manager Vanessa was cool & even offered to help me order my contacts online without having to show up in a location closer to where I live that I dont like... She even contacted the manager thier & they resolved the issues quickly... & im from California so for her to go out of her way even though shes all the way in Florida shows that her customer service is top notch & thats why shes a manager of this location
