Georgetown Eye Associates: Huizenga Robert C OD

This is incredibly sad - I've been going to this location since I was a child. After the practice was sold I tried to continue service but after today I will not be a returning patient. Prescriptions were valid for two years & never was I told or contacted that this was not the case anymore. My prescription was also never printed off & given to me at my last exam in 2024. Imagine my surprise when I tried to order contacts & was denied because validation of a current prescription could not be made. I've had zero vision changes, I'm in my 30s & pay out of pocket for everything. I called the office requesting verification only to be told I needed to have an eye exam (again) before I could even order lenses... The two women who spoke with me on the phone were incredibly rude. So instead of getting any sort of help I was told that "they would get back to me, as sometimes the doctor would make these exceptions".. So I could have a valid prescription for two years like I normally did for the last 20+ years but instead received one for only a year but some how the doctor is allowed to just "make an exception"? Great to know that this is just another way of forcing people back into the office for an exam that may not even be needed just to obtain more money. I ended up calling another local eye doctor who set me up as a new patient at an affordable price for an exam. It was never an issue having to come back in but the lack of customer service & transparency is what lost me as a long time patient. I definitely do not recommend this practice at all.

This is the worst service I have experienced at any doctors office. Mid September my eyes were checked, brought my own frames in to replace the lenses, after 3 weeks the glasses came backwrong.then another 3 weeks and still wrong. Now it's mid November and still no indication my glasses are in. Unbelievable. I just want my glasses back. The Dr. Is good but the service is bad

Very nice, professional staff and doctor. My son was nervous and not excited for glasses. Everyone was so kind, it made a huge difference! The office is beautiful and clean. Prices are comparable to any other ophthalmology office. Will definitely be taking my whole family here going forward!

Unfortunately with the changeover from this being owned by Dr Huizengas to now another RX optical I will not be a patient there anymore. I have been going there for over 15 years and previously I went there in the early 1990's and then moved to Indiana for several years then. Dr Huizenga is excellent and I would give a 5 star but the office staff mostly I could only give a 1 star or less. Between lack of personality and listening to what I was looking for in a frame was completely ignored. Another gentleman was looking for frames and wasn't seeing something affordable and this lady said I can show you the cheap frames. I was like that is so insulting. He left and I heard another lady say that same thing to another lady looking at frames. Ridiculous. I have recommended this eye doctor office to several people because it wasn't part of franchise America. Now it is part of RX optical and I will not bother making anymore appointments. Will be looking for recommendations to a family type owned Eye Doctor. Just ridiculous.

I have been with Dr. Huizenga for over 30 years. I thought he cared. But I know he doesn't. I had an appointment in March 2020 when Covid first started. I actually expected a call after they opened to reschedule. It's been 3 years. They never called. And then he sold out to a national chain with negative reviews. No thanks!

He was my eye doctor since I was a kid then I moved away. I went other places and was never quite happy with the level care that others provided so I now drive over 45 minutes one way to see Dr. Huizenga again. He was able to get things right the first time, after others had failed to many times in a row. He really cares and his staff is awesome. Definitely worth the extra drive for me!

Dr. Huizenga was my eye dr in 1979. I was 14. At around 21 I moved around so much I didnt have a regular eye dr. He is the same as I remember! He's smart, funny, and seriously knows his stuff! The staff is awesome as well! I left the office feeling confident in the prescription and lenses that i cannot wait to wear! And i spent less than i did at every one of the "quick stop glass huts"! Thanks to everyone at the office!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Huizenga and his staff. They are always very professional and pleasant to work with. I have been driving 25 miles one way for over 30 years to see them.
