I went to Clarkson Eyecare for a pair of glasses in October, I paid the balance in full. I have since received multiple text messages telling me I have an outstanding balance. I looked into it further and it turns out that I paid it in full. That the insurance company has a record of it being paid in full, and that clarkson charged me an additional $400 for services already paid for. I have spent hours On hold with what seems to be a non- existent business department and customer service who insists the only way to correct the situation is to keep calling the number.

I've been visiting this office for a few years for annual exam which proceeds fairly typically. Dr Cleary seems great, lab equipment seems up to date etc. What seems to be a problem in admin. Scheduling has been botched at times. And billing too. For example. My last appointment was 6/11/2025. All went well and was settled. Then a very scammy message showed up six months later. It's claiming there's an outstanding bill. You know...I have a mailbox. And I'm sure not clicking on links in scammy looking messages.
Edit added:
An in office visit today to check on the bill revealed it was $2.04 tax they weren't sure if they were supposed to collect last year. Resolved maybe.

The first pair of glasses did not fit properly I had them for 2 weeks, my eyes were so strained and tired. I called and requested to see Dr. Ryba again, explained the situation, my eyelashes also touched the lenses when I pushed the frames up all the way. I went in the next day. Dr. Ryba agreed the frames were ill-fitting and should be restyled. Diane, the office manager, was not pleasant right from the start. I had already paid for the pair I could not wear, she said I had to keep them and would not receive any money back. On top of what I had already paid I was made to pay 141.19 to get a new pair. This was all within 30 days. This is not what Clarkson Eyecare says on their site for customer satisfaction. I now have a new pair of glasses Ai cannot wear at all. They do not have a corporate office. They overcharge and are allowed to do so. They definitely lost my business.

Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. This office lacks transparency, respectful customer service, and quality leadership. Diane (office manager) was very rude and lacked customer service. I called asking about a contact lens charge that I was not aware I was going to be billed $90 for since there was no communication regarding pricing. All she did was talk about how I should've known, she's been in optometry for 30 years etc, with a condescending tone. Additionally when I was checking in, another receptionist was on the phone with a patient and was being equally rude and defensive, after their call they were all taking about it openly in the office. Does not seem like an office that respects their patients, they all need a lesson in customer service I will not be returning here.

Pros:
The eye exam was standard and went smoothly. No major issues. However, when I ordered glasses from another place, I found out the prescription was slightly off. Not a big deal, but still worth mentioning.
Cons:
Customer service: The front desk woman was very pushy and ignored everything I said. I told her I didn't have time, but she kept trying to sell me things anyway. It felt disrespectful and unprofessional.
Price: Everything is overpriced and not worth the cost.
Responsibility: I came back to order contact lenses that are covered by my insurance. They made a mistake with the order and charged me for it. They said they would fix it, but it's been two weeks and the problem is still not solved. That's unacceptable.
