My daughter has been under Dr. Mungan's care since she was five weeks old, when she underwent cataract removal surgery, and he has continued to oversee her postoperative care ever since. She is now three years old, and we continue to make the 2.5-hour drive for her appointments because the quality of care is exceptional. The staff is always kind and professional, and we are consistently seen in a timely manner. I truly appreciate how thorough and knowledgeable Dr. Mungan is, and I am grateful for the excellent care my daughter has received.
My daughter was a long time patient of Dr.Li , the previous ophthalmologist for Batson. She moved and so we were scheduled with this guy. Waited 2.5 hrs to be seen for literally 90 seconds. My daughter has had a prescription for glasses for years, he said she didn't need them. When I asked why he said "Come back in 6 months" . No answer to my questions, no concern, and definitely not a very thorough examination. We have since changed dr's and I will not go back to Batson/UMMC as long as he is the only option. There too many good dr's around to settle for sub par treatment. Once you've had a really great dr, like Dr.Li, it is hard to accept less.
If you are looking to be in and out within minutes then he is the Dr. for your child. If you are looking for great quality care, especially if your child is having some sort of problem with there eyes I recommend looking else where. My child eye goes outward (exotropia) from time to time. So we have been patching for a like 4 months or so for 2hr a day. He sees my child do a quick eye exam of reading the chart and tells us to come back in 3 months. No explanation of what may be going on, does not answer my questions in detail when given my concerns. He just smiles and nods and give 2 word responses. I feel as if something better could be done for my child and I'm switching providers even though I am a die hard advocate for UMMC. Just not this provider for my child! DO your research parents and choose another provider for your child. He does not take his time, no explaining, barely answers your questions and concerns. If I could rate him a half of a star, I would.
I am not one to post negative reviews. BUT, i would hope to see the truth before taking my child to a doctor. I saw another review that summed up our visit accurately. If you want an in and out appointment, that will be provided. However, when it comes to bedside manner there is none. No explanation, no plan of care, no asking about my child's history. And to be quite frank, we wouldn't have known the doctors name had we not been given it over the phone. He never introduced himself. My daughter had previously been diagnosed with accommodative estropia. But a second opinion told us otherwise. Her doctor stopped taking her insurance and we wound up here by referral. He never told us any diagnoses other than she needs glasses and never requested previous records. I had to ask about accommodative estropia. I just felt dismissed and rushed through. In my opinion, doctors who supposedly specialize in pediatrics, should know how to handle pediatric patients. Overall our experience was frustrating. We will find a different doctor. Do your research and always follow your gut.
My three year old grandson has autism, and he's non verbal in order to attend pre-K he needed a screening no one else could assist him. I was referred to Dr. Mungan when I say this is the best Dr who can handle my special need grandchild. Him and his staff did a great job in assisting him. Although, I had to drive 45 minutes to get to their office it was well worth the visit. He handle my grandson very well his examination. Again Thank you and your staff for being able to assist my grandson.
Office wait time was about 5 minutes...fastest of any doctor my children have ever seen! Great staff and Dr Mungan was friendly, kind to our 3 month old, and very helpful in explaining our next steps. He even called personally to report lab results and communicated with our primary pediatrician to ensure everyone was always on the same page. Our family looks forward to continuing to work with him in the future!
The staff is always very polite and the clinic is always very clean! Dr. Mungan is one of the best in the state! We have been going to him for years and my child loves him. Plus, the office always communicates with my child's other physicians.
Took excellent care of my little girl!! My husband went with her but he said he was patient and kind. I truly appreciate it because my daughter is so scared of doctors and to hear she had a good visit is HUGE for us so THANK YOU from the staff and the doctor thank you so much!!!!
