Desoto Family Vision

They do not answer the phone during business hours all you get is a recording. No one is that busy every single day. I literally have to send an email in hope someone responds. I cannot give five stars under those circumstances.

Sweet lady's everyone was very nice dr pang did great job on helping me with my lil Bella had a lot of choices for lil kids never knew how picky Bella was But she found a good one It was hard at first because she keep saying I look like grandma

New ownership is not great. Service and communication is terrible now. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt with the new transition, but the quality of care has suffered with all of the new changes. Dr. Smith actually cared about his patients, you do not feel the care with this new ownership. I have been a patient here for over 15 years, my entire family has been patients here. I am sad to go searching for a new family eye doctor now.

The doctor was great, but the rest of the staff were not very helpful. I told them multiple times that this was my first pair of glasses and that I wasn't really sure about the process. They didn't explain anything, just told me to choose some glasses and lenses, took my money, and sent me out. I don't know if they fit right or not.

I cannot give a 0 rating so that is why they have 1 Star. I went to Desoto Family Vision to have an eye exam. I have been going there for years to see Dr. Alan Smith, who was a wonderful doctor. However, when I was at my appointment with the new Dr. Renfrow, I was asked to get my eyes dilated. I declined because I knew and stated that I didn't want to get the procedure done twice as I knew I needed to go back to the Retina Specialist. Dr. Renfrow said he really wanted to take a look at them and it comes with your exam. I told him I was in a hurry and could not do it that day, we walked to the front desk and ask the ladies to schedule me for a dilation only as it would not be an additional charge. I came back in 2 weeks on March 12, 2025. At the time of check in, I was told I had a co-pay and I said well I don't want to get it done because I can go wait until I go to the specialist. Then one lady said oh no, it comes with your annual exam. A couple of weeks later, I get a bill. I called the office and explained to them the situation. The office Manager, Jennifer, said she would get back to me when the doctor was back in the office Monday (4/7/25). She finally called me back the day after and said she spoke to Dr. Renfrow and disagrees with what I said and that "that is just that." I could not believe this. I admit was as a bit irate at this point. I asked to speak to the doctor and she refused saying he would not talk to me about this. They filed my medical insurance and I owe whatever was not paid. This is purely bait and switch. I told him and the ladies at the desk that I did not want to do the dilation there if I was going to see the specialist. And told them I did not want to do it if there was a charge. They assured me it was not. Now everyone has amnesia. And I am out almost $50 bucks for an appointment that was made a an incorrect location and that I could have made myself. I told him I did not need a referral. I told him who I had seen. When you are the patient you don't always understand what the process is and what/how they are charging you. they should have cleared up the matter on the front end and told me they were billing my medical insurance and not my optical. This could have been avoided and I would not be giving them this money for nothing. They told me one thing and did another. That is purely bad business. The sad part is everyone in that office knows it. Please make sure they are all on the same page when/if you go there. They obviously do NOT know the proper billing procedures or are trying to get over on people. I will fight this even though its small. There is no telling how many people they have pulled something like this on. I miss Dr. Smith!

Dr. Smith was awesome!. He was kind, patient and informative. I was skeptical going to a new optometrist but I was very pleased with the service he provided. I was disappointed my insurance doesn't cover at this office. If your looking for a great optometrist I would recommend him.. The ladies in the office were very helpful at the end of my appointment in assisting me with my referral appointment. .

Amazing staff. They were very patient with me and happily answered any questions I had. My visit was quick but thorough and they have lots of cute frames to choose from :)

Dr.Smith is very competent and gives a great exam. He encourages and answers any questions you might have. I have been a patient for a number of years. In the past some of his staff seemed a bit rude but last several visits they have all been very nice and eager to please.
