St. Louis Eye Surgery & Laser Center

I had a great experience..loved my Dr Amato. All the staff from the office the nurses they were all very welcoming made sure I had plenty of hot blankets to keep me warm. I recommend to anyone getting eye surgery this is a great place with caring staff that put you as ease.

I just wanted to share my visit yesterday Friday 7/18/2025. I can not say enough about the way this office is so organized, each person I came in contact with was so sweet and pleasant. Everybody had a job that made the visit go perfect. Thank you all for your great care. Thank you Dr. Lee for making my vision good again. Continue the good work and caring the way you all do.

I have had 3 eye surgeries here. It is run very efficiently and compassionately. It's better than a hospital for eye surgery.

My husband has been a patient for 3 years and goes yearly for follow up appointments. Every time he has to sit in the waiting room for over 4 hours to see the doctor. They overbook patients and do not have regard for their time. I would not recommend going to this office.

I had Cataract surgery on my left eye on Wednesday March 12th Dr. Grueloch did an awesome job and Catherine, Felicia and Matty were fabulous will recommend also kudos to the front desk and admitting. Looking forward to getting my right eye done. And finally his nurse Brittany.

I took my mom here who is an elderly lady, and we did everything they asked. (This was the second time I took her because they messed up her pre-op the first time. My time is extremely valuable.) Then after we leave, they call us and tell us we didn't see the doctor after the appointment, which we followed all their steps and even went to the 2nd floor after the surgery. Then they call and text my mom for an out of network 4k bill. Then they start calling me! Their billing practices are not just unethical, it's elder abuse. They seem to be intentionally disorganized to confuse the elderly. Hope they fix that before a lawsuit fixes them. I mean just look at the other comments. I wish I would have read them first. My mom still can't see.

I read numerous the negative reviews just prior to taking my Mom to this facility to get cataract surgery and was concerned. Our experience was quite different though. The facility is very organized and very thorough, which I suppose may make some feel like it is a factory, but it did not bother us at all, actually it gave us reassurance that they do this all the time and know exactly how the process works. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE, in the facility was very kind and helpful. They even allowed me to be with my Mom pre-op, which isn't all that common because they understood it was her first time, she was very scared and needed extra reassurance. She also has a few disabilities that often frustrate medical staff, but the staff there was very understanding and accommodating. Each patient is given a random number that appears on the TVs in the waiting room, which shows those waiting to where in the process the procedure is, from the scheduled surgery time, pre-op, surgery, to recovery. They also send text messages as the patient moves through the process. I found this to be very reassuring. Even though the waiting room was filled, my Mom's procedure was quick and we were in and out in less than 2 hours total. While you are there the facility does have a small cafe when you walk in that you can get a drink and a little something to eat, so there are no worries if you are waiting for a patient who may have a longer procedure. One last note, the facility has a large parking lot, but if it were like when we went, it was filled and I had to circle around several times to find an open spot. You may wish to drop your patient off at the front door and then attempt to find a spot as it can be a lengthy walk, and if you are pushing a wheelchair, it will likely be partially uphill. Overall, I was very satisfied with the facility and its staff, and positively recommend them and thank them for the professionalism and kindness they showed me and my Mother.

I had surgery on the 7th of March. All the PRE-OP RN's I thought did a great job with handling me with care and consideration. However, the RN who assisted the surgeon, Dr. Theissen was hasty and careless. She decided I needed more dialation drops which kept me dialated 2 days. Also when she inserted the anesthesia in the port that was placed in my hand (whuch is a delicated area) She pushed too fast with the syringe, and it hurt really bad for me to yell out, and she didn't even acknowledge it. I kept a bruise for a month and she could have blown my vein. During the surgery, I almost felt like my eye was aggressively handled with rough hands. I was in disbelief. These are ny eyes. Here am 6-7 weeks later and cannot see out of my surgical eye clearly. I was able to see driving with my glasses and up close working on a computer daily with no glasses before my consultation. My only issue deciding to have the surgery was because durin night driving, there was too much glare. It's been a complete nightmare fir me since!
