I was disappointed to find out that this office charges an extra $10 to measure my PD (Pupillary Distance), even though they have already made glasses for me in the past. Since they made the glasses, they already have that measurement on file but refuse to provide it unless I pay an additional fee. This feels like a tactic to prevent patients from ordering glasses online, as the PD is a standard part of an eyeglass prescription. I'd rather measure it myself than pay a company that holds my own data hostage. I recommend going somewhere else that actually shares your complete prescription without charging extra.
Dr. Foster is THE BEST!! Having horrible vision my whole life, going to a yearly eye exam is not my favorite thing. However, Dr. Foster makes my eye appts fun. She always makes me laugh and I don't dread going for my yearly exam!! I've decided-she's not allowed to ever retire lol! She's my fave!!
I can no longer recommend this practice to anyone. The ophthalmologists are very friendly and really good, but over the last year I have experienced what I consider to be questionable business practices.
I was a patient for over 12 years, but I am probably not going to be anymore. Let me disclose financial facts that they do NOT disclose until you are already done:
1. If you bring in an outside pair of glasses, because you don't like what they have in stock - they will charge you at least $20 - even if they are filling the script and you are their patient. You brought in a pair of glasses that was not purchased through their store.
2. If you get cataract surgery, and you later need a pair of readers, they sold my father an (81 year old man) readers that cost over $700 which could have been purchased OTC for less than $50.
3. Also, if you wear contacts - they will charge you $85 - not covered by most insurance. Doesn't matter that your prescription hasn't changed, they just want the additional $85 - as "there are materials involved," so I was told. I don't recall anything different from any other eye exam. It ended with, "we have to renew your prescription." So there it is - $85 to renew prescriptions.
The service for getting my new gold frames was awesome! I love them so much and have gotten so many compliments on them. Not to mention Melissa was so nice and helpful the whole time!
My initial visit to get glasses was a long wait , so two weeks later today I called and they said they are ready to pick up. I said ok I will be there and a text arrived asking to fill out date time I'm coming and when I did for today it said full. I came anyway. I don't understand why they complicate simple things like picking up your glasses. Since it takes two weeks customers want their glasses , why you need to make an appointment ? If I went off there date that would be Monday and today Friday. How they go about things is not for me.
I recently switched eye doctors for myself and my kids because I no longer trusted the care we were receiving. It is not uncommon to feel like the eye doctor is expensive, even with insurance. However, this office takes up-selling and overcharging to an extreme. Every receipt has ten things on it, eight of which are not covered by insurance. You have to be very careful to ask for just an exam, or they will "provide" every possible service regardless of need or explanation. I have three children, all who were offered expensive care and services, but when I went to a new eye doctor, he explained that one of the kids didn't need glasses and the other didn't need the expensive care or special contacts he was fitted into. This office also has the habit of asking you to come back many times. The doctor will say, just to check, and if you ask, he or she will say it shouldn't be an additional charge, but the staff will charge you. I originally went here and enjoyed the doctor I had. However, when we brought our kids, they would not let us see the same doctor, even after we had problems with the kids' doctor. I would not recommend this office to anyone. It seems to have grown into a money making operation that has lost sight of the patients.
This place is fantastic! Moved here recently from out of town and got lucky to find them. The facility is very lovely. The team is very helpful. The techs that help with glasses were so patient and helpful, even making sure that my glasses fit correctly on my face and bending the arms for me so that they don't slide off from behind my ears when I came to put up my new glasses. Never had a clinic help me get my glasses to fit just right. Dr. Pachy was really great, even inquiring about what I do for a living, so that she could suggest workspace glasses for my progressive prescription. I didn't even know what workspace glasses were, but come to find out they're great for someone that's farsighted that needs close range and mid range assistance to see the keyboard as well as the computer monitors. Highly recommend anyone who works on computers to consider work space glasses and this clinic!
What a pleasant surprise it was to meet Dr. Burton and his assistant Morgan (and all the others). Everyone had a pleasant demeanor, patience and overall good rapport. I feel like I hit a goldmine. Dr. Burton has a disposition that is so natural and his team works well off that. Thank you everyone at Eyecare Associates!
