I am extremely disappointed with my experience regarding a pair of glasses I purchased here for approximately $450 during my eye exam. At the time of purchase, the frames were on clearance, and I was never informed that the frames would not have any warranty coverage. I was only made aware of this later when issues began happening with the glasses. If this had been clearly explained at the time of purchase, I would have made a different decision. From the very first day I had the glasses, decorative gems fell off the arms. More recently, a screw broke in the frame, so I brought the glasses back in for repair. My original prescription lenses were still in the glasses and were functioning when I left them in the office's care, and I was told the lenses were under warranty. After leaving my glasses with them, I was later informed that my lenses could not be located and that they "do not know where they are" because the employee who handled them is out sick. As of now, I have no glasses, no lenses (which I paid for), and no temporary solution offered, which has left me without the ability to see clearly for driving or daily activities. I was also told they will not install new lenses into the frame because it is broken, yet my original lenses were removed and are now missing. I did not authorize the disposal or removal of my lenses without confirmation that my glasses could be repaired and returned in usable condition. When I requested my prescription so I could order replacement glasses elsewhere, I was told they would not provide it because it is expired. I was also told the prescription would not be included in my medical records, which was very concerning. At this time, the glasses and lenses I paid for are still in their possession, my lenses are unaccounted for, and I have been left without any vision correction while waiting for a resolution. I am hoping this situation is handled professionally and responsibly.

I never leave reviews but couldn't help it this time. I had been going here for several years but this year after waiting 6 weeks for my new glasses I desperately needed (having trouble seeing out of current ones) I contacted the office 3 times, requesting why I didn't have them yet. No one got back to me with an answer the first 2 times. When I called for the 3rd time, they told me the glasses had never been ordered because the insurance quote they gave me was wrong by $300 and neglected to contact me with that information. So unacceptable! I won't be going back.

Had scheduled appointments for myself and my son for an eye test and glasses for myself. Upon arriving was informed that I needed to give them medical insurance information just as a precaution.. Then was told that I was required to have a photo of the back of my eye taken as it was a requirement by the doctor and it is not covered by my insurance or very few insurances. Told them I didn't want that I wanted a vision test and Prescription glasses. Was informed that the doctor would not see me unless I paid the $50 each for myself and my son to have a photo taken of my eyes that may find Diabetes. I showed up for a vision test not a medical review therefore I will go see my Primary care physician to seek information on any health issues I might have. I will go see my an optometrist for vision needs. To turn away a family of five who refused to pay for something that insurance does not deem medically required. Seems like you may be making too much money to give proper care when your wallet means more than your patience needs. I would recommend anyone go anywhere else for vision needs other than Nixa family eye care and find a doctor more concerned with patient needs rather than Dr. Boones pocket. .

I initially went to Marshfield Family Eye Care who had a horrible selection of sunglasses (not even the replacements of sunglasses previously purchased there); and was subsequently referred to Nixa Family Eye Care as they had a "more fashionable selection." They also assured me that "My purchase would be shipped to Marshfield for my convenience, once the glasses arrive." My glasses arrived. I requested that they be delivered to Marshfield, to arrive today 9/17/25. Today I phoned regarding picking up my RayBay $700 glasses at 1:30pm since I had not yet received a courteousy call. The glasses "were forgotten to be transported to Marshfield." So I called Nixa. "Yes, the glasses were forgotten." "Okay, someone didn't think to maybe inform the owner of the glasses as to the status of his purchase?" "Well, no one except the person who forgot the glasses would know that because no one else looks at that folder?" "So what you are telling me is that NO ONE DOUBLE CHECKS TO MAKE SURE ORDERS ARE BEING EFFECTIVELY COMPLETED AND THAT CUSTOMERS ARE SERVICED TIMELY AND CURTEOUSLY? That's what you're telling me, because that's what I just heard?" "Yes sir?" LMAO! "Well of course you are dear. Bless your heart." LoL Not 1 apology. Not one offer of compensation to me for my time to track down my glasses, nor cost of fuel and inconvenience. Absolutely horrible service and coordination. Amazing how these places stay open. I will find a new optometrist and I will drive to St Louis to do it if need be. Never again.

I have waited 4 weeks for my glasses and was notified just today after I've called 3 times lately inquiring when my glasses would arrive, that my frames have been discontinued for some reason and they were mailing my lenses and I would have to pick out new frames. Why wasn't I notified of this issue before now? I would never recommend this practice to anyone and have demanded a full refund. I am moving out of the area next weekend and never thought this scenario would happen. Very, very unprofessional.

Second Update- I decided to give them another opportunity with contacts and called Aug. 18, 2023. I spoke with a different receptionist. I explained that I wanted to order contacts and requested a trial pair, and I asked when I could come pick them up after giving all pertinent information. Contacts are not covered under insurance so I always trial a pair to make sure they work for me before purchasing a year's supply. I was told she would ask Dr. Boone Jr. and I would receive a call with further information. We are in October, still no call, or voicemail, email or any other method of communication. I saw him in Dec 2022 and prescriptions are only good for a year. I think it's time to look for a more personable, caring, honest care provider. Deducting another star. I can no longer recommend this office or provider. First Update- deducted one star: I called the office during March 2023 and requested a trial pair of contacts with my current prescription before ordering a year's supply, following the same process I have for over 15 years. The attending receptionist was unspeakably rude in tone & curt in providing basic information. I was told I could not pick up trial contacts. My request would be forwarded to Dr. Boone Jr. "in the back" who "would determine if he had those" and I "would receive a call" letting me know more. We are now in May, and I am still waiting on that call. I am out of contacts and am researching sourcing my contacts online since the price is the same. Original review: I have seen Dr. Daniel Boone Sr. since I was a teen. He was always warm and gracious, down-to-earth, easy to connect with & honest. As a young adult I saw Dr. Turner a few times as well. I found her to be knowledgeable and friendly. With my own children we have been under the care of Dr. Daniel Boone Jr. A little different experience. Although I do not personally feel comfortable with him, the children do and that is important. I have purchased both contacts and lenses from Nixa Family Eye Care over the years and I have never been disappointed. I always wait to order until I have worn the trial pair of contacts to make sure the prescription is right for me since a stigmatism is part of my prescription. I do recommend this office and these practitioners. I have used them with insurance and without.

I am terribly disappointed with the lack of service. The doctor was great but I need a new contact prescription. Although they are willing to order you trials, to make sure they get the right ones, they are slow to do so. I have run out of my supply of contacts, and I have no current prescription, while I am still waiting for the lens to arrive. I have worn contacts for almost 40 years and have never received such slow service! They charged me to mail the contacts because they "pay to track" the shipment. When the contacts did not arrive, I tried to obtain the tracking number from them which they can't locate and don't return telephone calls! Shame on the staff!!!!
