Smithville Eye Center/ Epic Vision Eye Centers

I came in for the first time a few weeks ago and the service was excellent. The receptionist was kind and quickly got me checked in. The technician was also friendly and let me know what each machine was used for. Dr. Lamas was wonderful and extremely thorough. I've been wearing glasses for over a decade and contacts for over 5 years and have gone to different optometrists in the KC area. My experience with Dr. Lamas surpasses all previous experiences I've had at different eye centers. She listened to my concerns, answered any questions I had, and made sure I had the perfect prescription. 10/10 would recommend!!!

I had a great experience when I went to have my vision checked. I was happy with everyone that I worked with to get my new glasses. They were polite, friendly and a pleasure to work with.

I've been here several times and continue to get mediocre service with high pressure add-on services. Spent $350 on contacts and wouldn't provide contacts case with sample. Said they had limited supply. Guess I didn't make the cut. The little things matter in providing a good service.

I had a great experience at Smithville eye center! The ladies at the front were extremely kind, I saw Amanda for my eye exam and she was fantastic! Amanda was very kind and knowledgeable, she took the time to answer questions I had! The office was peaceful and clean! When picking out glasses the ladies up front were also super helpful! I noticed they had a great selection of glasses and were very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Smithville eye center.

Please find a different eye care provider. They over billed me, admitted it was their mistake and then refused to refund my money - $63. When honest people with integrity make mistakes, they fix them. I won't go back, you shouldn't either.

My husband and I have been patients of this clinic for nearly 20 years--when Dr Anderson started it. They have gotten progressively worse. A few years ago, they were supposed to call when our glasses came in. 3 weeks later, I called and guess what--they were in but they never called us to let us know. Their paperwork showed they had tried multiple times to call--the phone numbers were correct, someone was lying. And this last visit is the absolute last straw-we will be going somewhere else from now on. We paid for our glasses at the visit, not a problem. I went over multiple times the level of progressives we wanted, the Dr even came out and reviewed it. We left thinking "wow, that wasn't nearly as expensive as in the past". Since then they have called twice over 2 days, each time saying there had been a mistake and each time the price was now more. I get mistakes happen, and paying the difference is no problem. But what I cannot accept is they want us to pay before they send them off to be made. This was their mistake and they won't even try to make it right, instead it is acceptable for them to inconvenience us for their repeated mistakes. We do not live in Smithville and we work and travel for work, our appointment was on a Saturday morning because we cannot get there during the week, and now we have to wait an additional week before our glasses are sent off. We have never not paid, in fact we actually had a credit on our account at the time of this visit. Extremely poor customer service and we will never be going back.

If zero stars were available, that's what I would rate this place. My wife came in with our 3 year old for a 9 am appointment. At 9 am, the door was still locked. It was a short wait, so not a big deal. Upon check-in, my wife wanted to pay her co-pay. The office responded with, "oh you wanted to take care of that today?" She said yes and then she paid it. 2 minutes later they said "oh it's $60 to fit you for contacts, so she paid that. Our daughter was perfectly fine in the beginning of my wife's appointment, just a curious 3 year old. Dr Lamas was either frustrated or annoyed, with the fact a child was in the office. And was very rude to the point she made my daughter cry. She only apologized when she read my wife's pissed off expression, and at that point, an apology was meaningless. After the horrible experience, and since the prescription didn't change, my wife asked to order a year supply of contacts. She then paid for those. Now we have 3 transactions in 1 hour. She asked for the prescription for the glasses, but the doctor didn't recommend she go elsewhere for glasses. My wife, already frustrated didn't push the issue. We have no intention of going back to this place, for glasses or any other care. We came here, to support a local business in our community, but this experience was simply "a nightmare". I think it was fortunate on everyone's behalf I wasn't there. Because to say that I was "pissed off" when I was made aware that healthcare "professional" made my daughter cry simply for being there, is a HUGE understatement. Then after my wife leaves, angry and disappointed, she realizes that she had paid $60 for the "contact fitting" yet she left in the same contacts she came in with and wasn't "fitted" with any other contacts. To be clear, the rest of the staff seemed friendly, there were a few things that could be improved, such as check in/check out. I'm limited on how much curiosity I can stunt in a 3 year old, but this physician surely could benefit from workplace sensitivity training. Key points for our review for this visit: * not prepared for the visit * not child friendly * not professional

Have been going here for nearly ten years and the experience continues to decline. The provider names on the door change annually, and there must be a reason for that. On my most recent visit I was told that an imaging test was "required" by the doctor instead of being presented with options. Dr. Lamas was indifferent to my concerns, and I contacted Stephanie at the corporate office to complain. It's been a week after being promised a call from either the office manager (Wendy) or a VP (Chad) - neither has bothered to reach out. Find a different provider who will take the time to understand patient concerns, knows that a patient has a right to refuse any test or procedure, and actually cares about their customers.
