Nebraska Medicine The Optical Shop at Truhlsen Eye Institute

We have used this location for our family eyewear for many years. The service, quality, and selection of frames is unbeatable. Marcie and Dell and Sally are all wonderful. Marcie was so patient today to help my husband find just the right frames. She also thoroughly explained the different lens options.

I've used this facility for 40+ Years. The optical folks are wonderful, their products are the highest quality and their service, at the old location was superb. Then came the move to the new location. Now it is administrated as a business with a strict code of "will and won't." I had executive bifocals through them for decades. Now they won't even try to get them. And the officious woman at the front desk made me feel as though I had been singled out and ridiculed for even wanting to purchase a product which they had chosen to discontinue. They didn't try /don't care attitude was offensive. I was able to locate executive bifocals the next day. The 'style' of this institution previously exemplified a customer centered focus that made me feel warm and respected from the moment I walked in the door. I want that store to recapture the friendly atmosphere it used to have. Please restore the Optical Shop to it's original environment, wonderful ways and take all the business administrative leadership and support to the curb; because those principles are destroying a wonderful institution.

The main front desk woman that never wears her name tag is incredibly rude. Never wants to help or look any information up. My doctor told me to go to the optical shop and get my PD. The lady said they haven't done that in two years. But when I say I'll buy glasses she would do it right away. She told me the time before they wouldn't take my eye insurance, when on the window to the store it says they take EyeMed insurance. I will never go in there again and tell everyone to go somewhere else, because they are lazy and tries to read people to see how much money they can spend in the store before they help. I was ready to spend a lot of many glasses. Rude and not professional at all.

After cataract surgery, I took my new prescription to The Optical Shop at Village Pointe because it was convenient to my doctor's office. It was my understanding that Medicare would pay for one pair of glasses after cataract surgery but I was told by Myra that this was not true but she could offer a 25% discount. I assumed I had misunderstood the Medicare coverage so went ahead and ordered and paid for the new glasses. I am so disappointed that the employees at this location actually lied about the Medicare coverage. Medicare does pay for glasses after surgery and my should have been paid for. Are these employees working for commission? If The Optical Shop chooses not to bill Medicare they should have told me that, not that Medicare would not pay. Unethical to say the least and I would never recommend this business to anyone.

University Optical in the Truhlsen Eye Institute on the University of Nebraska Medical Center campus has served me well through four rounds of prescription updates over the last five years. Lori deserves special commendation for being careful, thorough, professional, and cheerful, even when a customer (perhaps even this one) may fail on one or more of those counts. Good people doing a good job.

The service ( i.e. explani g different options) is very unprofessional and they don't do any sort of repair. When I ask if they know any other place in town that I can have my glasses repaired, they have no clue. Very unhelpful. I don't recommend this place.

I always get the best service from Lori at University Optical. She is the best! Thank you Lori.

Was in town for the CWS and needed a replacement contact and Ellan was super helpful in making this happen!
