A rare find. A wealth of knowledge, and a doctor who wants to take his time to share it. His office is old and cluttered, but that's likely because it has a lifetime of information in it. I had a very long appointment. If that's something you don't want, its understandable. I was surprised by the time he spent. He's probably losing money for what insurance give him for a basic eye exam... But I don't think this man is in it for the money. He loves people, stories and helping them. There are not enough medical professionals out there who put the effort in that he does.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lane's for 10 years, and am honestly in awe of his extensive scientific knowledge. I believe he is one of a handful of medical practitioners who knows how the body works nutritionally and applies this knowledge to each patient, individually. A treasured blessing to us all! No "cookie cutter" treatment here! In addition he is a very kind person. He listens to my questions and takes the time to explain things to me. He has traveled all over the world speaking to others in his field, so has thereby gained heartfelt love and appreciation for all people! A must visit if you care about your eyesight. Thank you Dr. Lane!

I have a 1 star because I can't give a 0 star. But let me just say, horrible experience!! PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! 1) His office is in a house which seemed very sketchy. I was there for nearly 4 hours. He prescribed me a prescription that actually made my vision worse and caused severe migraines consistently. I just went to a new ophthalmologist and they agreed and said my prescription is too strong and has been causing my symptoms. He needs to retire.

Very very impressed with Dr Ben Lane. Don't be dissuaded by the office itself, it's not a modern fancy high rise. But the man inside is hugely experienced and his old office has all the latest digital equipment (as well as all the 1980s manual equipment which he can revert to if necessary . Huge experience and detailed knowledge of every aspect we can think of in vision disorders. Our visits have been for a cataract in our baby girl's right eye and of course he's an expert, describing a period where he worked examining the recently removed lenses of cataract patients adjacent the surgeon's OR. He seemed to know all the "probable" causes of each type of cataract , linking color, shape and location to cause; and he was the first to tell us exactly the history and prognosis for our daughter's eye. ANd six months after our first visit, I can say he's been correct on everything. With six degrees and multiple reasearch activities he seems to know more detail and history than any ophamologist. Plus, we like him, he's kind and patient with us and our little girl. He succeeded in taking the best and only internal eye pictures through patience, artifice and multiple trials and errors. Something we attempted in three other doctors' offices without success. Honestly, I got the feeling the guy is just super curious about whatever puzzle you present him, in any field; even in his eighties, so be careful asking a question you're not prepared to have answered. Talk about your american diet and he will exhaust you with everything you're doing wrong, referencing anthropology, modern preservation techniques, micro nutrients, Linus Pauling and case histories. A fascinating man who loves what he does, loves the intricate puzzles of the whole vision system and delights in his modern gadgets that can tease out meaning from blurry contradictions. I love the america that produces these gems. Final note, if you wait on the couch for your appointment long enough you're liable to meet the spry older brother, annother prodigy in a different field with an inexhaustable repetoire. I will not soon forget these two gentlemen, I'm shaking my head now at the wonder of their very existence in such an unassuming place. Dr. Benjamin Lane is the BEST! He takes his time with the patient. He explains on what's going on with the eyes. He's amazing.!

I wish I could give no stars. Was more concerned about telling me stories about my race than looking at my eyes. Sat there 30 minutes in his dust hovel only to be told that in his time his people and mine weren't allowed to live near each other. Avoid at all costs.

The best doctor in the world. Dr. Lane is knowledgeable and kind.
