I recently had Cataract removal surgery. Comparatively one of the best medical/surgical experiences of my life. Dr.Lee who performed the surgery is very pleasant, I'd say kind, professional, knowledgeable, informative and skilled. Everything he explained to me regarding my eye surgery was exactly how it went, from pre-procedure to post-op. I felt nothing during the procedures. The staff, Cara, Nicole, Erica, Kathleen, Lauren, Jen, Kim, Jill, Crystal and Dr. Costabile ( sorry if I spelled that wrong) are the most friendly, caring, knowledgeable group of professional staff I've ever encountered. It is unbelievable that I can say it was a perfect experience. When you consider I came away with the most amazing new eyesight, its an extraordinary experience. The clarity, the colors, that was the first thing I noticed, the colors of my world had slowly been altered by my cataracts, now they're all back. The down time is minimal, the rewards are tremendous. Thank you Dr. Lee and staff.

Thank you Dr. Dorn! I finally got my new glasses (clears and sunglasses for distance and reading glasses) with your prescription. For 20 years I've gone from optometrist to optometrist and none could get my prescription right. Finally, with your expertise and help I have two prescriptions that are accurate. The world looks so clear, so crisp and so dimensional now. It's a beautiful place. I am so happy! I just wish the staff was friendlier. Perhaps some training in customer relations would help. However, I am very pleased with my prescriptions. I recommend.

Dr Lee performed cataract surgery and it's like having brand New eyes. I have the clearest and sharpest vision that I have ever had. It's like a modern day miracle. I can't say enough good things about Dr Lee and the whole Southern Shores Eye medical group in Manahawkin. I am so happy that I can see so well now, especially when driving at night. Thank you very much Dr Lee.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Nguyen. I went in for a growth on my eye, and from the start, he seemed rushed and impatient. I was uncomfortable trying to keep my eyes open while he shined a bright light in them, but instead of being understanding, he grew frustrated and kind of snapped at me to keep my eyes open. He quickly prescribed steroid drops to use four times a day until my next appointment (scheduled three weeks later) and briefly mentioned he might remove the growth then if the steroids worked. When I asked about the cause or more information, I had to stop him while he was already in the doorway leaving the exam room to get an answer. His response felt dismissive and rushed. He didn't even review my medical history with me. The diagnosis and treatment seemed like it should have been simple and quick, and I later learned it definitely didn't call for the expensive, useless, and possibly dangerous medication he prescribed. Still, I followed his instructions and tried to make another appointment. It was difficult to schedule an appointment because Dr. Nguyen is very busy or wasn't going to be in, so the front desk staff--who were very nice and accommodating--had to search extensively for an available appointment. I even offered to see another doctor, but they insisted I see him. The whole experience didn't settle well with me, so I sought a second opinion. I wanted the growth taken care of because it was uncomfortable, interfering with my sight, and pretty unattractive -- honestly embarrassing. The second doctor removed the growth during my appointment and explained it was due to an injury, not the diagnosis Dr. Nguyen gave me. They also told me the steroids Dr. Nguyen prescribed would not have worked and might have caused other issues, especially given the timespan and frequency of use. Now I'm stuck paying for a visit that was essentially worthless. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. I left Southern Shores Eye Center feeling unheard, misdiagnosed, and like I was a nuisance rather than a patient. Based on my experience, I do not recommend Dr. Nguyen or this practice.

All staff were pleasant! Dr. was thorough and catered to my daughter who was nervous. Great experience. Would highly recommend.

I visited Southern Shores to see Ronnie to help minimize the acne scaring on my face. I can't speak highly enough about how comfortable she made the experience and how happy I am with the results. Ronnie really takes the time to understand your skin and walks you through all your options. Throughout the process she explains the different steps and is clear what to expect during / following the treatment. We did an IPL and I started seeing results almost immediately. I continue to see improvements - the dark spots have significantly lightened and my skin texture is smoother. Visiting Ronnie has helped restore my self confidence and I can't wait to see her again.

Already a patient of Southern Shores Eye Center, I decided the time had come for me to seek aesthetic treatment for my facial flaws. After learning about the TempSure radiofrequency treatment for stimulating collagen production, presented by Dr Lee at an open house earlier in 2019, I decided to give it a go. I was pleased with the gentleness and relaxing feeling during each of my 5 sessions, much like a spa experience. I understood that the benefits won't be immediately noticeable, although I did see a glow to my skin that wasn't there before. Over time, I noticed the texture of my face had become smoother. These early improvements were a welcome benefit that i was so glad to see. Nurse Ronnie explained that the true benefits of the collagen production boost are yet to come. I was so very pleased at the gentleness and doing something to help my face into the future. I am one to be conservative with treatment and was very pleased with the results. PA Already a patient of Southern Shores Eye Center, I learned of the new laser from Dr Lee and how it works at resurfacing the outer layer of skin. I have had facial acne scaring for my entire adult life. I have tried microdermabrasion in my 40's but it really only gave me a subtle improvement with my acne scars and no improvement with the deeper ones. I have always wanted to have a permament fix for my acne scars, but the downtime of an erbium laser deterred me. (I have seen actual pictures from 2 of my friends, and I know that I want a much more conservative approach than what the erbium delivers.) I still want to be able to go out and not miss out on life in the few days following treatment. So I decided to go for it and try my first laser treatment! Nurse Ronnie showed me how to keep my face cool during the process which was very comforting and helped me know what to do for myself when I get home. Ronnie prepared me for the mild zap that I would be feeling and she allowed me some short breaks at first so I could be more comfortable. Once I got used to the feeling, I gave her the okay to progress with the rest of my treatment. When complete, I was so thrilled that I finally did it and had the treatment that I really needed! I went to a wedding a week after the laser treatment and I got many compliments from people in person and moreso from social media pix, from people who don't normally send me compliments! I am so happy with my results. I really like the view of myself in the mirror and it had given me a much-needed boost to my confidence and general wellbeing. I am so grateful to Dr Lee and Nurse Ronnie for offering the laser to me as a patient of the practice. I am so very glad I decided to try it and would definitely do it again to perfect the results already attained or to improve another area of my face/body. Thanks again from a very satisfied patient!
