We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Schwartz and her entire team at VDC. She is the kindest soul and is so wonderful with kids. Both of my children were struggling with reading, and vision therapy with her made an enormous difference in my children's academic performance and self-esteem. Thank you so much for everything you did for our two kids!

I wanted to like this doctor. Loved her dog. I went for a comprehensive eye exam a couple of months ago and everything went well until I was not interested in her vision therapy; I just wanted the glasses. See, I had a balance organ surgically destroyed but the balance nerve is still there, and my brain is treating that dead organ like a phantam limb. Everything moves visually bc I have a balance disorder. Everything blurs nearly compleyely in light and walking, etc. I black out when I have to focus on stuff and when I walk. I'd tried visionary therapy techniques on YouTube before I even went to this doctor. First time I tried pencil pick ups, I woke up on the floor in my kitchen. Vision therapy is not a great idea for me and I'm a liability. But, she wrote her report like vision therapy would save me and my accommodations read like those for a 5 year old in school. Bc of this report I can't get anyone to help up my micro prism that does nothing. I even got the perscription in sunglasses so I could have a change since my eyes are so highly photosensitive due to the progressive balance disorder effecting my eyes. I now have to find a new doctor and pay for another report. But this time I'm going to find an MD, like my neurologist had suggested months ago. This has been a very trying medical learning lesson. I am happy this doctor has helped others but be warned, a doctor is suppose to write options on reports and you as the patient have the right to another opinion. All I'd ever wanted was the prism glasses I'd spend months researching about and not the vision therapy I already knew my brain couldn't do (and this is not from lack of trying... I learned my cochlear processor in 3 months all on my own, which take most ppl up to 2 years if at all.. I've never been a quiter but I am a realist). I wish this doctor the best, I'm sure she's a wonderful doctor, she's just not the doctor for me.

My special needs adult son would not cooperate with multiple other eye doctors but Dr. Schwartz won him over, not only completing his first eye exam in ten years, but convincing him to wear glasses, which has resulted in a 100 percent improvement in his vision in both eyes. We are so grateful to Dr. Schwartz.

I worked with Dr. Schwartz in MA before she opened her practice in NJ. As a 50 plus patient I was told that I would never see "true 3D" in my life because it was too late. After working with Dr. Schwartz I was amazed with the results. I had eye surgery as a child that corrected it from turning in , but the work that Dr. Schwartz did changed my brain and my world. I've since used the practice to change other things in life and I can't recommend her or her practice enough. It was a lot of work to get the results, but it was well worth it. Thank you!

My 8yo daughter just "graduated" from her vision therapy sessions. She started having double vision 8 months ago and I had no idea what was going on. After taking her to the ophthalmologist who told us she would grow out of it but we could also try vision therapy with an optometrist. Although the ophthalmologist didn't have much of a favorable view of vision therapy, I appreciated she pointed us to it. I went to another developmental optometrist first- they had lots of patients and it gave me a feeling of more or less a factory. I wasn't ready to commit to several months of therapy there so I did more search and found Dr. Schwartz. Her practice felt totally different and both my daughter and I loved her and her practice. Everyone especially Dr. Schwartz was kind, caring, and very responsive. We never waited for our appointments and it was easy to book for the times we wanted. Vision therapy exercises can be boring at times especially for kids, but they really try their best to engage the kids. For the first few sessions, we already saw huge improvements and those sessions simply felt like magic to us. I became interested in the therapy as well and Dr. Schwartz even lent me her book about vision therapy. In retrospect I feel lucky we chose Dr. Schwartz because I do see my daughter's willingness to cooperate depends on the type of connection she has with the therapist. And this is really key to her progress. Our insurance doesn't cover vision therapy and I heard that's the case for most policies. If we need to pay out of pocket anyways, why not choose someone who is knowledgeable AND caring? At the end, I feel this experience is really worth it. For us this experience is like the old saying: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

I cannot say enough great things about Vision Development Center and what they have done for our daughter. We had come from another Doctor, who basically said that she would need surgery if her one eye that was going out didn't correct with reading glasses. We came to Dr. Schwartz for a second opinion and thank God we did. Her issue was in fact NOT muscular but neurological and could not have been fixed with surgery. From the initial evaluation we couldn't have been more impressed. My daughter did 24 weeks of therapy and the change was simply incredible. She went from needing a tutor for reading and pretty much striking out every time in softball, to a gifted and talented class and hitting bombs into the outfield!! Of course she was terrible at softball, she couldn't see the ball!!!!! Who knew?!?!? Dr. Schwartz did, that's for sure. Her confidence is through the roof now and she's excited and happy doing things she couldn't do before. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Schwartz, Patti and their entire staff to everyone!! Beyond grateful for everything she did for us and the constant guidance we recieved.

Dr Schwartz has been an amazing vision therapist to our son. She is a combination of clinical excellence, compassion and warmth toward pediatric patients. At a different practice my son could not even sit through a routine eye exam and Dr Schwartz could get him to engage and have fun in vision therapy sessions. She works hard lockstep with parents in their efforts to help their child. She is gifted in working with children and her methods will improve not only vision but will boost cognition overall. He has made gains in reading and math as well. Carolynn and Patty are wonderful to work with and we look forward to our sessions there. Highly recommend this practice!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Schwartz and her staff. Dr. Schwartz is extremely knowledgeable and professional. We have learned so much and seen such great progress with my daughter and her vision. Dr. Schwartz and every staff member is kind, warm and so accommodating. They take the time to explain every detail of the diagnosis, treatment plan and home exercises. I am so happy we found them!
