Eyecare Plus - Dr. Steven D. Starkman

EDIT: 10/9/25 Update Just wanted to amend my review below. I took my mother to Dr. Starkman for a new pair of glasses (as mentioned, top notch pair that lasted two years). Additionally, my mother needed her glasses tightened so we took them to Dr. Glassman. Sadly we couldn't get the right fit and it was favoring to one side. Normal practices would have told you to take a hike. Not. Dr. Starkman. he spent 3 hours going through every single tool at his disposal to get the fit right. And when it didn't, offered to fit the existing lens in another pair of frames at a fraction of the cost. Ultimately, we kept the existing lens and ordered the new frames which I look forward to seeing, but it's level of high ethics and customer service which is why I never hesitate to recommend Dr. Starkman to folks. I wish I could have kept the other pair but we do intend to make future purchases in the next year. There's not a better practice in town. Original Dr. Starkman is the kindest and most effective optometrist I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. We moved into the Teaneck area in 2022 and I was due for my annual eye exam. Dr. Starkman's office was a block away on Cedar Lane and so my sister was actually the first to go see him. As time went on, both of my parents and I have become patients of Dr. Starkman. He's been nothing but incredibly gracious and very solution oriented, working to find effective treatment when my father had a bout of episcleritis and identifying a cataract in my mother's left eye which she later had surgery for. He has a robust set of eyeglasses and his name is very well respected in this industry and so he has many eyeglass partners with whom he works with and is always able to give great deals on eyewear. My mother purchased a great set of transition lenses that have held up beautifully over the last two years and we just went in for a new pair for her this afternoon. Dr. Starkman had to step away for an urgent need but still found a way to fit us in and stayed past his closing time to accommodate us. He is by far one of the nicest people I've met over the years (and he has great taste in music. Many old classics like Dave Mason, The Bee Gees, The Rascals, The Grassroots, etc.). I'm 31 and fortunately have great eyesight today and 20/20 vision, but I would trust Dr. Starkman with my vision for years to come. I could not recommend him enough.

This doctor is extremely unreliable, frequently missing appointments even after we've agreed on a specific time. His misleading statements about his schedule are frustrating. I've been back and forth multiple times, and this is not how you conduct business.

Dr Starkman is absolutely THE BEST! I can't praise him enough for all he helped my son with. My son can't see without glasses and he's a University student and he couldn't see because his old glasses we had from another place have broken. Dr Starkman could see my son immediately and the glasses were lightning speed fast! He literally saved him. We thank you so much from our hearts! Perfect glasses too, absolutely the top BEST service.

Steven is friendly and capable eye doctor, helped fix a prior bad prescription by another optometrist. Ordered glasses, which one lens had some minor damage along edge causing the edge to be rough. Also transparent "wire" holding lens in place was bulging out of channel. He fixed both problems but had to grind down inside edge of lens, not noticable from onlookers perspective but also a "fix" to brand new glasses. Prices were a little high compared to others in area. Worth it for accurate prescription. Men's glasses selection was a bit limited.

Dr Steven D.Stark is a very good eye doctor. He is very cool to talk to and makes you feel very comfortable. I certainly will recommend him to my family and friends.

Dr. Starkman is excellent. His eye exams and patient guidance in choosing frames are both very professional and helpful.

Dr Starkman is the best. I now have been buying my eyeglasses there for two years and will continue to do so. His eye exam was informative and he found solutions for my rough dry eyes. He has a great selection of well-made eyewear. He gets five stars
