Capital Eye Care Physicians and Surgeons PLLC

This was one of the worst doctor's offices I've ever been to. Like most of the comments say, the technicians are very rude. They are especially rude to the elderly. The woman at the front desk, Amanda, was very nice and polite. She was the only nice technician in the office. Not sure what the one technician's name was, but she was very rude and treated my grandmother horribly. My grandmother is hard of hearing, which is why I accompanied her into the room. This particular technician said she typically doesn't allow people in the room besides the patient. This seems like a reoccurring pattern in this office based on other's reviews. When I was explaining something to my grandmother, the technician told me there was, "too much talking," when all I was trying to do was help my grandmother. As I stated, she's hard of hearing and wasn't wearing her hearing aid. She's 91 years old and her vision also isn't the greatest. The technician was also very short with her responses, had a bad attitude, and very obviously hated her job. Not sure why a doctor's office would want their workers treating their patients like this, especially the elderly. I'm not sure about the other doctors at this office, but Dr. Robinson has horrible bedside manner. He doesn't bother to say hello when entering the examination room, and he doesn't take the time to communicate with the patient. Unless you enjoy being disrespected, I would avoid this office at all costs.

I have been going to this practice between 15 to 20 years. I started out with Dr. Robinson at the Troy office and found him to be very competent. 10 years ago we moved to a different area so the Delmar office was more convenient. Upon that switch, I started seeing Dr. Kamath. I have never waited long at all in that office. My time is worth a lot. I have found them to be very efficient, and Dr. Kamath's manor is very gentle. I read other reviews about him being rude and uncaring. I was shocked. He has been nothing but very caring with me and in no way rude, quite polite and pleasant. He always asks how I am doing and wishes me a good day till we meet again. I have been extremely happy with the care and professionalism I have received through this practice.

I've been going to Dr Kamath for several years now. I have always been a satisfied patient at this practice. Recently I developed a pretty large floater in my right eye. I called the practice to explain and they said they would contact Dr Kamath and let him know. It was Dr Kamath's day off. The receptionist called me back to tell me that the doctor would come in and dilate my eye to make sure my retina was not detaching. He came in on his day off out of concern for me. He has also had me follow up in 6 weeks to check it again and then again in 6 months. I have always been happy with his care but what doctor goes into the office on their day off to make sure you're ok? Not many! I highly recommend him!

Don't go here. Suresh G Kamath, MD has no clue of what he's doing. He's evasive, gets annoyed when questions are asked, ignores symptoms, records about eye wrong in his records, he's rude and talked down to me. He also claimed he could not diagnosis so he just has me doing the same thing. I had what looks like an eye stye and he didn't offer to treat it and when I pushed about treating it again, he told me that he could remove it with surgery. And ultimately I was told to put the exact same ointment on it that I already had. He couldnt have cared less but would happily sit there and just smile at you when you asked questions but seemed put out to answer them. I had made a two week appointment when I left but then two minutes later, I called to cancel because, why would I go back to a rude, incompetent doctor. Capital Eye Associates is also an obvious money grab. The tech who typed my info into the computer before the "doctor" came in had some wrong info so I told her what was not correct and I was given a nasty tone. I was also BADGERED several times by her (short pink hair) because I could not think of the exact date I stopped the meds (I was on them for 6 weeks and at the 5th week I stopped because it made my eyes worse. She and he both reprimanded me for having done that. The "doctor" said he'd never know it it worked or not because I had stopped at the 5th week and what did he do, he put me on the exact same meds and wanted to see me back in 2 weeks. I was told there were 2 refills and I saw it say that on the box. When I went to pick it up, just in case, CVS informed me that he had invalidated the script refill. WHO DOES THAT???!!! Very vindictive eye "doctor". The pharmacist was also shocked when I conveyed the info. I, nor anyone I know on planet earth has had a refill invalidated. Oh and I updated the correct pharmacy twice to them and they said they fixed it. Yet continued, twice, to send a script to the wrong pharmacy. And on my way out, I heard the doctor loudly making derogatory remarks about me, as I had stopped outside in the hall to gather my things up. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER ACTUALLY VERY CAPABLE OPTHAMOLOGISTS OUT THERE. If you value your eyes- do not set foot in the place. Go elsewhere. I plan to tell anyone who will listen, about this joke of a practice. I called and canceled, yet they sent me one of these "Termination letters", which a lot of reviewers refer to. On my first visit, I left under the impression that the staff was nice. My 2nd visit was when the facade dropped- from the front desk, to the tech, to the doctor were absolutely miserable and odd to interact with. I'm 52. I never review doctors or food or anything. However, I was so upset at the treatment and incompetent. Don't confuse then as being part of the Caremount Group- they are not allifilate with Capital Eye Associates in Delmar, NY. They just rent an office upstairs. After this appt. I immediately spoke with my Primary Care physician and shared the details of my experience as a patient there and she kindly & professionally disagreed with every the eye "doctor" has advised me. I'm grateful Kamath's medical treatment and manner/personal, as it led me to look for and find a much superior eye care practice. My eyes are getting better after 1 week. As opposed to 7 weeks under Kamath Suresh! How important are your eyes? Exactly.

The exam itself was ok but I had left my glasses in the case and called the next day to try and retrieve them. I spoke with the office manager MaryAnn who is probably one of the rudest, most obnoxious people I have ever met. I asked what can be done to get my glasses - she said I couldnt get them until Tuesday (5 days away) b/c thats when the Delmar office opens again and even then is only open from 8-1030. Like most people I work - in my case 8-4 and cannot take time off to come and get my glasses at that time. She then said the office is also open on Thursday from 8-330. Again, this does me no good and as I tried to explain this Maryann interupted me and claimed I was yelling at her which I was not. I asked to speak to someone else and she said there was was nobody else and that she was the office manager. I said "youre the office manager and this is how you trwat people?" She then hung up on me. I called back only to be hung up on again and even a third time when I called to speak to the owner (who she previously IDd as the Dr) about getting my property back. Maryann claims to have given my message to the Dr but I doubt that has occurred. I informed Maryann that the Dr. has lost a patient as aresult of her mouth. I may now have to contact local PD to get my glasses back. This was actually chance #2 for them considering the rude letter I received kicking me out of the practice b/c I cancelled an appt and didnt immediately reschedule. I dont get a lot of sick time and had to push this most recent appt back a month to have enough sick time to accommodate. Im done with this practice. How this Maryann person continues to have a job with the way she treats people is beyond comprehension. Would give zero stars if possible based on Maryann's behavior.

I find it hard that this establishment has poor ratings and nasty comments. Our group home has been coming here for many years and have had nothing but a positive experience. Dr Robinson and Dr. Kamath have been very helpful and kind to our individuals as well as the rest of the staff. The staff have always been polite and accommodating to our needs. I believe the nasty comments were from years ago and from people who could not work out a simple alternative solution to their problems and decided to write an angry review. I am very glad we are patients here and have nothing but good things to say about this company. Thank you to all the staff and doctors working at the Delmar location.

Before I was about to recount a similar extremely negative, insulting and borderline abusive experience I just had with the office manager, Maryann, I read some previous reviews, not just on this site but in every forum that accepts reviews. Clearly there's a pattern with this particular employee. Why would someone be retained who subtracts from your business. Spouse? After the encounter I realized I have pity for this person who on the surface lacked manners and was rude but really is well beyond angry and so obviously not happy with herself. I'm thankful that my encounter lasted under a minute. To say the professional care was lacking would be a gross understatement. I was not provided a diagnosis but asked to bring back my old glasses so the attending could figure out the correct script, even after I succumbed to an extra three tests due to, 'irregularities in the optic nerve.' No mention there would be an additional copay for the three tests whose results were inconclusive. I might not have agreed to the tests but it would have been nice to have the information and offer me the patient a choice so I could make an informed decision. Aren't these folks supposed to take an oath about helping people? This was a flat-out money grab. I'm accustomed to a degree of honest, integrity driven and most of all stench-free customer service in my eye stuff and dealing with people who are decent, possess common courtesy and treat others at any station with respect. Capital Eye just doesn't see how important it is to treat people not just as dollars.

I work in the medical field so I am aware of the situation that I was treated unfairly. This office is extremely unprofessional. Was not educated or made aware that my medication given for treatment needed to be monitored. Then I was sent a rude letter in the mail and dismissed from practice for no reason. As a medical professional you are supposed to fully educate the patient of their condition and treatment, which was not done properly. When I called to state my concern was also treated rudely. The medication prescribed did fix the issue which I was happy about, but the overall experience of how I was treated there was not good. Would not recommend this practice for those reasons.
