They quickly located my vision benefits online and then worked with me to maximize those benefits, reducing my costs. But I would have gladly paid out of pocket - the exam, the fittings, the service were all excel - ent! Highly recommended.
Friendly staff and Saturday hours. He didn't do dilation test, i had to ask for the test. He didn't feel it was necessary. I told him my last eye dr said i should have this test every two years and it was 2.5 years since i went to eye dr. He put the drops in my eyes. The print is normally blurry right before I'm examined. The print was legible so I question if it was long enough for exam to be through.
This past May I needed a new set of progressive lenses. Friendly staff, disappointing quality of product. The frames needed adjustment every three months. I finally used my old frames, which they would not use at Excell, and redid the lenses. They also proved to have been executed poorly. All in all not recommended.
We had an extremely disappointing experience at Visionexcel. We learned last week that our toddler, who just turned two, needs to wear glasses full-time as part of his treatment for congenital ptosis. Since we're new to choosing glasses for such a young child, we did some research and found a few brands recommended for toddlers. Visionexcel was listed as a retailer for one of these brands, so we decided to check it out.
Because my husband and I both work and the store is closed Saturday through Monday, we asked a family friend to bring our son on Friday afternoon to see if the frames would work. If they were, we planned to stop our search and return on Tuesday to place an order. Our ophthalmologist specifically suggested that we ask the optician to measure our son's pupillary distance (PD), so we thought we'd ask Visionexcel for help with that, too.
When they got there, the person helping them--likely the owner--initially allowed our son to try on a couple of frames. But as soon as our friend mentioned needing the PD measurement, he became unexpectedly rude. He said, "If they want to come buy glasses, then we'll measure him," shut the boxes, and wouldn't let them try more pairs. Even after she explained we intended to return and make a purchase, he refused to help my toddler and our family friend further.
It's already upsetting to learn that your two-year-old needs glasses due to a birth defect, and we just wanted to act quickly to find a good fit. The whole experience left us feeling frustrated and unwelcome.
We ended up finding the same brand at Dutchess Optometry in Red Hook. The staff there was wonderful--they let our son try on as many pairs as he liked, and we ended up ordering two pairs right away. They even gave him a little Angry Bird toy with glasses, saying it might encourage him to keep his own glasses on.
I don't know if the owner of Visionexcel was concerned about us purchasing online or something else, but the way he treated us was totally unacceptable.
The greatest eye care guys i could find. Really nice and friendly. The price was unbelievable, so I upgraded to designer transition glasses. I wanted to buy 2 pairs, but Glenn told me to wear one pair for a while, to make sure i like the fit and style, before i committed to another designer pair. Who does that? Everyone else would of taken my money without that kind of advice. I feel like they care about me. During the eye exam we were having so much fun, talking and laughing. I was at ease. I don't remember the doctor's name who did the exam, but he made me feel like we were really good friends. So...... In conclusion. I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!!!!
This is THE BEST optical store in the Hudson Valley!! They have an amazing selection of designer glasses. They have everything from a budget collection to high end designer frames. They even carry glasses that are hand-painted!!! The staff is extremely helpful and always have me leaving happy and ready to buy more glasses!!! Even when they are booked up months in advance for an eye exam they put me on their waiting list and do their best to accommodate me!. Even though they may be booked up at times they are well worth waiting for an appointment!!! Have you gone to Visionexcel for your eyeglass and contact lens needs? If not you are truly missing out!! Don't need glasses? They have an exceptional selection of non prescription sunglasses (which you can get your prescription in if needed) I highly recommend them!!!
Quick and easy process of picking out frames (from a great selection) for/with my 5 year old. Staff was friendly, helpful, familiar, and made us both feel comfortable and confident. Our particular frames were pricey (wish there was a military discount to help with cost) but overall the experience was awesome!
He explained every step of the eye exam. Was very nice and upbeat. Made me feel very good about my diagnosis of an astigmatism. Everyone else was also very friendly and knowledgeable! They have a great selection of glasses! Can't wait to get my glasses.
