I highly recommend this place. The doctor saved my dog's eye. We were being treated at another hospital in New Jersey, and with every diamond burr debridement her condition got worse. They only gave us antibiotics and nothing else for eye lubrication, even though proper hydration is a very important part of the healing process. We were advised to do surgery. Thank God our friends gave us the contact of this wonderful doctor! Thank you so much -- you saved us!
They treated us using a new treatment protocol and prepared an individualized serum from my dog's own blood plasma for the best possible healing. This is the absolute best treatment available today! After just one session, the eye was completely healed. Words cannot express how grateful we are to you. It's truly amazing!
Update: Thank you so much for taking care of our little cocker spaniel. Once her eye was removed she started bouncing back to her old self.
We are very impressed with the level of care, compassion, and expertise of the vets and all staff at the VEC. All the services at VEC, from scheduling appointments, including last minute emergency appointments, to the medical care Furrow received, was professional and timely.
We are so relieved we found the VEC and 100% recommend them to any pet owners struggling with pet eye issues!

We're in the early stages of glaucoma, and still trying to figure it out. So far the doctors and staff at VEC in LIC have all been really helpful, professional, and kind. They've gone out of their way to help our pup - communicating after-hours to make sure she is ok. Grateful to have found this group!
The staff is so kind and warm , I am a helicopter chihuahua mom, they were patient and super gentle with my old lady. It was very pleasant to see how welcoming the staff was from front desk greeting me and Chanel to the nursing staff gathering all of Chanel's history and handling her with care. It meant a lot and it was super reassuring. The Doctor was also very kind and informative and explained everything in the simplest of terms. Thank you Shavonne, Alexis, Dr. Flaherty and I am so sorry for not remembering the 2 nursing staff that were the highlight of the appointment and your amazing care and knowledge. I also want to add how clean the office was and how under control and smooth my experience was .
Bambi's eyes have been repeatedly affected by FHV, and her cornea was unable to heal properly due to ongoing ulcers. Fortunately, the veterinarian and the staff were incredibly kind and patient. After three months of treatment, I was finally able to see Bambi's bright, sparkling eyes once again. 100% Recommend!
These people are Scammers They gave my dog an eye pressure test and told me he is blind from his left eye. The Doctor recommended to give him drops twice daily forever. The second time I had to order from them they sent the prescription to the pharmacy and I had to pay around $53 for a very small bottle of drops so I researched and found them on Chewy for $10.99. In order to order from Chewy they had to get an approval from this vet which they did approve the first time. Now they declined it because I didn't take my dog back to them for another eye pressure test. Now, if they advised me that he needs the drops forever why decline his prescription just because I have not done the eye pressure test again which is expensive. I called them to please approve the prescription and they said not until I do the eye pressure test again. All they want is money they do not care about our fur Babies. My dog will be 13years old next week and he needs his eye drops. I will be going to Vetco from now on to do the eye pressure test They are affordable and they care about our fur Babies. Please think before spending your money at this facility.

The doctor and his wonderful team were such a delight to work with when our Boston Terrier sustained an eye injury. Not only were they kind and compassionate, they explained and spent time with us to be sure we understood all options.
I cannot thank Dr. Hanes enough for giving Phoebe's life back. Phoebe was suffering from cataracts in both eyes and had become a different version of herself. She was scared, depressed, and didn't want to do anything because she couldn't see. Dr. Hanes is a true specialist and a consummate professional. He made the entire surgery process so much less stressful for both of us. The results were nothing short of a miracle: by the third day after surgery, she could see again!
The change in her personality has been incredible to watch. Phoebe has regained her independence, her bravery, and her "old self" is finally back. Seeing her happy and active again is the greatest gift.
I also want to give a huge thank you to the entire staff. The team is incredibly supportive, friendly, and helpful. They were there for us every step of the way, which made a world of difference during such a sensitive procedure.
If you are considering cataract surgery for your pet, do not hesitate to see Dr. Hanes. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for the best care possible.
(See attached photos for the before and after transformation. The "after" photo was taken right after the procedure.)

This place is perfect! From the lovely and helpful Shavonne to the techs giving updates throughout the day to Dr Hayes following up super late at night yo give me an update on things that happened in surgery. I love VEC and refer all my clients to you. Keep being amazing!
