I had been a patient of Dr. Dieck for over 30 years, and he performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes, which was successful.
He prescribed drops without letting the know I had advanced glaucoma. When I found out from a friend, that there was a surgery called a trabeculectomy, which would prevent me from loosing my sight, I asked the doctor if he could perform the surgery, he ignored me, and abruptly asked his secretary to give me a card for an ophthalmologist in Harrison, NY.
I couldn't see well enough to drive down county. Instead I made an appointment to see an opthomologist at Mt Kisco Medical Group, who after an eye exam, informed me that I had advanced glaucoma, and needed to have trabucolectemy surgery as soon as possible to prevent me from going blind.
If Dr. Dieck had informed me early on, when he should have, I would still be able to drive long distances on parkways and highways, instead of restricting me to only be able to drive short distances locally.
I now tell friends not to make appointments with Dr. Dieck because I find him untrustworthy.
Disappointed to say that I have to agree with the poor reviews. The staff is lifeless at best and plain rude at worst (with the exception of a very kind secretary). Trying to make conversation with staff is pointless since their attitude suggests they'd rather be dragged through broken glass than tend to a patient. They charge you needlessly for a medical procedure they force you to waiver after find the most tenuous reason to include it in your visit. They also didn't supply me with any sort of eye protection after refracting my eyes (an unnecessary procedure since I was there for contacts). I went to the appointment by myself and suffice to say I had an extremely difficult time driving myself back to my house on top of the other responsibilities I had later that day which involved more driving. Then they charge you for the most basic eye exam after giving you a pair of contacts that they already had in house. Go to this doctor if you want to be charged exorbitant prices for the worst patient experience of your life :)
Dr. Dieck is great!! I don't understand the negative reviews, he is a sweet guy and both my dad and I have gone to him and have had no issues. He's been very helpful with answering questions and even got my dad in for a next day appointment for an urgent issue. Everyone working here is also very kind and courteous. Would recommend this practice!
Dr. Dieck is a competent Dr. But, he has absolutely no bedside manner. He is insensitive to patient concerns and body language and I've been okay with this as my eyes have been relatively healthy. But, I can not continue as a patient because as I age, I have more questions and concerns that he has no interest in answering.
Very disappointed. The doctor didn't ask us one single question when we took my teen son for what my son describes as double / blurry vision and problems focusing on objects nearby - that he has been very concerned about. I had to ask the doctor if he knew why we were there and he was dismissive. The doctor went about the exam and said, "your son has no problems at all with his vision. His vision is perfect" to which I had to correct him, "you mean you found no explanation for his vision problem". I had to really press him for alternate explanations and/or next steps he recommends fir us to figure this out.. You think that would be standard. I spent more time signing self-pay financial paperwork than we did with the doctor. Upon checkout the receptionist said since he didn't find anything medically wrong, my medical insurance won't cover the exam. This is false btw if they code the claim based on the patient complaint/symptoms, which doesn't seem to have much weight at this practice I learned.. Doctor didn't ask us a single question, so strange! I will share our experience with our pediatrician who recommended him.
Took my mom to do her surgery here. He was very patient with her and the follow up visit was just as good. She had a previous eye surgery with another doctor, she thought Dr. Dieck did a better job. I would recommend him to anyone.
Liar, no bedside mannor. Long wait times. AVOID, go elsewhere
Worst doctor I have every seen. Just wants to move patients, lied about prescription dosage, says hell call, never does. Had zero bedside manner and could care less about his patients. Waited 45 min both visits, no apologies...tried to get your out in 2 min to keep the money churn going
All he does is belittle questions as if he is the best doctor in town (Clearly is not). New doctor I went to said he has a bad reputation and many of their patients come from poor experiences with Dieck
When confronted about sending wrong dosage, he lied, yet I have it written down as he said it. Typical "not my problem" and i could care less about patient attitude.
AVOID...go elsehwere
I think Doctor Dieck is a wonderful doctor and I feel fortunate to have him as my doctor for the pass several years. I have recommended several friends to him and they have been very pleased with the service they received.
