Dr Marta is an excellent doctor and I have been to other specialists and he understood my concerns and informed me of treatment plans with close supervision. I have witnessed his cataract surgery in other patients and that is why I will have my surgery with him . Very knowledgeable , skillful and thorough MD!
Dr. Matta is a very attentive physician, he caught a medical condition before it could get worse. He always makes me feel comfortable when I see him. He explains all the necessary protocols for my upcoming visits. His technicians and receptionists are very kind people as well. I would recommend my friends and family to this doctor.
This place operates under low standards of professionalism. Had to wait more than an hour for my elderly grandmother to see the doctor. Dr. Matta barked instructions at her even though she does not speak English. He seemed as if he was trying to get us out and was not concerned about our understanding. Not to mention, they put drops in her eyes in preparation for a small procedure and told us to wait 20 mins. After 40 minutes, I inquired why we were waiting so long and they notified me that the Dr wasn't that even there yet. I find that unacceptable.
Made us wait 1.5 hours to see the doctor. Come to find out he was "in a meeting" while 3 of us just sat in the waiting area. Oh, ok, that makes perfect sense. Have a meeting while you have patients sitting in the waiting room. Better yet, make sure to dilate their eyes so they feel like they have to stay. I don't like to leave bad reviews as I know it hurts local businesses, but this is the second time I have waited for almost 2 hours at this place. I'm done.
This place is terrible on many levels. I have been here about 4 times. Each time I try to make an appointment, they somehow can't find a record of me being a patient and I usually have to end up giving them my information all over again. The wait time to get an appointment is often weeks if not months in advance, maybe this is common but still a bit annoying. Once you actually get an appointment, the wait times in office are rediculous as well, I would say the average wait is 30 minutes, and I've waited up to an hour for my appointment after arriving early/on time.
The equipment is visibly quite old looking, this was confirmed with me when one of the technicians who does some of the preliminary tests on you joked (although was serious) that the equipment is from the 80's or 90's. Many of the receptionists are terrible, I have been put on hold a handful of times trying to make an appointment and waited 10 minutes or more never to get answered back by the receptionist. Trying to order contacts from them was a complete nightmare as you had to get your call transferred from the receptionist over to the other girl who deals with ordering the contacts. Out of the maybe 8 times I attempted to order contacts, I was successful only two times and eventually started to just order from 1800 contacts which was a million times easier. I could go on and on but I would avoid going to this place at all costs. I kept going simply because it was less then 10 minutes from where I lived and I usually only had to bother with them twice a year but I have finally had enough and am going to take my business elsewhere. The one good thing I can say is that the actual eye care staff, technicians and optometrists, were actually quite good, although I don't think I ever saw the same optometrist twice. It is the customer service and management that makes this place unbearable to deal with.
I would highly recommend Dr Matta, he is treating my problem with vision(left high) , After a recommendation from a friend and went his Orangeburg location for a casual checkup to find out what's wrong, After reading some reviews was double minded that should I go or just find some other nearby doctor, then decided to give it a try and called Tuesday for an appointment they gave me appointment for Thursday 12.15. When I reached at 12.05 receptionist greeted me and took all my insurance card/I'd and asked me to fill some regular forms ( which I really hate). 12.25 pm, I have been called in and I was out by 1.00 pm, so In 1 hour I was out of office, not bad provided I could see 10/12 people are sitting at waiting area any given time.About my treatment I am on some medication which Mr Matta gave me samples to try and gave me Prescription to pickup from pharmacy. In 2 days I feel I am 40% better.
Now it's a real, when I went for medication at Montvale CVS and my prescribed drops where costing $540 ( my insurance was not covered) it was 6.30pm in the evening, I tried calling office and I was connected VM, Somehow CVS pharmacy knew doc Matta and she reached out to Mr Matta for replacement prescription and boom in 10 min they received new prescription and it costed $15 . This made my day and felt like I should put my experience online.
My grandmother Esther has been a long time patient of the New York eye Institute. However, recently she had a very negative experience involving Dr Goldberg and the staff. When she arrived for her appointment, the office was dark and was closed. She was shocked to find out that Dr Goldberg had left the practice and was upset that she was not made aware of this before arriving that day. She had other plans and took off of work for the appointment. The way the staff handled the situation was terrible and patients should be made aware of changes like these before arriving to their appointment.
I have very similar experience with 'Sara S' I ended up paying all the copay for my child which I don't still understand. They treated me like I'm a thief when I told them to Bill the extra copay that they ask(since I don't understand all the copay they are asking after they told me that it was covered). They literally treated me as hotage that I can't leave unless I have to pay on spot. By the way, I do have medical insurance and vision insurance. Staffs were very rude. They are not helpful and gave me a hard time with a referral that they misplaced. I'm a ER RN myself. I know What is like work in medical field and they treated me like a dumb. No problem with a doctor, she was pretty nice. I've been there twice so far since it's the closest place from my house and no problem with a docotr. But I'm looking for a new place now.
