I started as a patient here maybe 8 years ago and got my first prescription. Over the years I've come back multiple times for new glasses and everything seemed fine. I recently moved out of state and called to ask for my prescription as they had never given me the actual prescription on paper. Since I was now out of state I wanted to get new glasses online using my medical information. When I called they wouldn't tell me it over the phone and would only mail me a copy to my address. I didn't really question that as they've been my only optometrist and it wasn't that big of a problem for me. When the paper with my prescription arrived in the mail it was handwritten and I had a really hard time understanding what it said. Imagine a 3 that looks like a 2 and vice versa. I have included it down below. I had to get a family members second opinion in order to guess what it was. But yet my prescription wasn't complete. They did not include my pupillary distance. A very important part of my prescription. And when I called they said they couldn't give it to me. (This has also happened to a family member in the past). All in all. This made it impossible to actually order glasses on my own as they wouldn't give me my own medical information. Which felt very predatory and capitalistic. I have since found a new eye dr in the city I live in. And they said that all of this was very out of the ordinary. Another thing to note my new dr discovered that my old glasses from Berkshire eye had astigmatism lenses. Which I never knew. They never told me this. Nor was this noted on my prescription. And according to my new dr I didn't even need it and that may be why I have been getting more eye strain and headaches. Yet another example of this whole process being carried out in a manner that isn't professional or helpful to the client. I'm now in possession of my new prescription that is typed up and had every bit of info included. And causes zero eye issues. Berkshire eye made my life so much more complicated than it needed to be. One other past experience to note. I tried to get contacts from them a few years ago and when I was being taught on how to put them in I just couldn't do it. I have a phobia with touching my eyes. And I informed the woman of that. I was okay trying and chose to since it was a test. At the end I was crying and had to stop because I just couldn't do contact lenses even though i wanted to. She was very huffy and upset which made me feel even worse and made the whole process even more painful. This is a medical place. This isn't a shoe store or restaurant. And that was something that would affect me on a daily basis so I had every right to decide if I could or couldn't do it. And her professionalism was severely lacking as she was visibly upset with a 15 year old which sent me home in tears having lost and strength to try again in the future.

Please Please Please read the reviews!!! This place is horrible!! Worst staff I have ever dealt with. They messed up my daughters prescription and her glasses actually caused her eyes to go lazy when she puts them on. I called and made an appointment and a month later they called and said they needed to cancel because of a scheduling conflict with the doctor and needed to reschedule an additional 3 MONTHS LATER. I called and ask if I could instead give her my appointment which was much sooner and the employee Sasha says NO that if I cancel my appointment that they have a list of people waiting and the appointment would go next on the list and actually had the audacity to gave me attitude when I was rightfully upset with the COMPLETE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM.

Went in for sunglasses and was very pleased. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They took the time to show me a variety of sunglasses to make sure that I had the right fit. No pressure and enjoyable experience! Would recommend!

This place is among the least helpful optometry shops I have ever had the misfortune of doing business. From the hostile Roz lookalike at the cash register (whose default answer to every question about everything is "No") to the management, this was a nightmare. My progressive lenses came back (after paying $180 for their eye exam) unusable - I had to bobble and rotate my head to the point that I looked like an inebriate every time I wanted to change focus - and when I complained, I was told "Well those are progressives." After informing them that I had used progressives from other places for a decade, they agreed to change the lenses. A week later we tried and the experience was different. Not better, just differently bad. At this point, $900 and more than two months in to the process (what with waiting for the first glasses, "giving them a chance", then waiting for the second glasses) I was done. "Look, let me just have my money back. "Oh," they all said. "You're going to have to speak with Heather about that." Except Heather is never there. We tried on four separate occasions, and she was "out to lunch". Finally, I got there when Heather was there. "Oh, I have your envelope right here," she told me, "I've been waiting for you," as if I had kept her waiting. Heather explained to me that she would refund all except $131, because "these are custom-made, and many places wouldn't let you have ANY money back. Ah. Perhaps for my entire adult life I've been incredibly lucky in five states. These guys are shucksters, scam artists, and they're unpleasant to boot. Steer clear.

Having problems with my eyes tearing with major sensitivity to light and other issues. Dr here in valatie informed me it was cataracts and had me schedule surgery. Went twice for diagnosis because i felt like it was something else. Again was reassured it was cataract problems. So i went to an opthomologist in NYC who came highly recommended. His office did numerous tests and concluded it was not cataracts causing the problem but several other issues of which he corrected the narrowing of drain with laser. (One of the issues). Next week i get the other one done. Dry eye another issue. I'm so glad i went to Dr. Harmon. I would have undergone surgery i didn't need, and my problems would still be there!!!

I have been here twice - first time went in for my appt they said I did not have an appt that day it was 2 weeks from then at a different time. I thought possible but not likely. A year later Made another appt as I wear contacts and can not get new ones after a year unless seen by dr. so I went for scheduled appt and again they said I did not have an appt it was for the next week on a different day and time. I am not senile nor do I have dementia!! very unfriendly staff. would not recommend them.

Had my eyes check 2 weeks ago. Very friendly and thorough. Picked up my glasses today and they are amazing. Everyone from check in to picking out frames and picking glasses up were friendly and helpful. So glad I found this office.

Some how, the screw that holds the plastic nose piece fell out on my glasses. I am in the area on vacation and called ahead. They took care of me right away and fixed the problem. When I asked how much I owe, the lady said "have a nice day". It's a small gesture on their part, but I told them I am there on vacation. They still treated me professionally and courteously. Thank you.
