I had a chemical exposure in my eye yesterday around 5pm and my usual eye doctor couldn't see me until tomorrow. I called up this place and they said "come on in!". Never seen such a place that serves the patient so well. Highly recommend. And Dr. Samuels is a great doctor and has great personable skills. Some doctors I've been to can barely keep a conversation. This was not the case with Dr. Samuels. Great person and great doctor! Definitely going to keep coming here when I need new glasses or have another emergency. And thank you to the staff for being so amazing as well - they all deserve a raise for being so awesome haha!
Too much commercial, they have overcharged me. and staff was rude. paid 640$ for my both eye check and additionally they billed 500$ to my insurance and addition of 65$ as upgraded fee. this was just office visit that lasted less than 20 mins. no procedure have been performed and no dilution. Just for post surgery eye check -up for 20 mins charging me closed to 1000$ is too much.
Had a great experience here with the super nice staff! Specifically, this one worker named Adrienne who was very warm and welcoming the for my entire appointment. Got a referral for Lasik and they were quick to send it over to the other office for a quick appointment set up. Would recommend!
My college aged son recently had an appointment there and was driving in from about an hour away. This was his first medical appointment as a legal adult, and he had a terrible experience. They called to say the doctor was not feeling well and had to cancel about an hour before the appointment. We were then able to reschedule for the following week. I had called ahead to say what the medical issue was that he needed to discuss and to give my flex spending card for payment. The staff member was kind and said she made a note for the doctor. When my son came in, he was immediately discriminated against based on his appearance by staff and then also by the doctor. His concern was dismissed and the doctor made unprofessional comments to my son about how he needs to change his appearance in order to be more presentable to society. I called to speak to the doctor and he interrupted me many times and dismissed my concerns and tried to deflect what had happened, without taking any accountability. They also did not give my son his glasses prescription and I had to call for that. Needless to say, I have submitted a complaint to the NC medical board for this illegal discrimination.
Dr Samuels was very thorough during the whole examination. He took detailed notes throughout the process and made sure to put in place the necessary checks and balances throughout the entire procedure. The office has in place state of the art equipment and the entire team was well trained to provide a customercentric experience. It was my most pleasurable vist to an ophthalmologist. Please ensure that you utalize the services offered. It will be well worth it.
Dr Samuels does not use numbing drops during dilation. I was not told this. I was not told "hey, this might hurt a bit" about literal hellfire. Eyes are sensitive organs and I was not told anything about the machines or tests that were done during my exam unless I asked about them, but I was also not given time to ask about anything before it happened. I felt like I was being experimented on because no one would tell me what the hell was going on.
Keep in mind this was my first eye exam in years, and my second ever, so I had no idea what was supposed to happen during this appointment. I told them this, and they still treated me this way. If this had been my first eye exam experience, I would never have another one even as a medical necessity.
Horrible overall experience, and I would not recommend for anyone who likes explanations, has sensory issues, or has not been to an eye doctor before. I will never be coming back.
Edit: I just remembered while explaining why he doesn't use eye drops (his explanation was, essentially, "it's less hassle to give a patient 10 seconds of excrutiating pain than to do the extra 20 seconds putting in the numbing drops"), he also said "youre not supposed to be comfortable at a doctor appointment." Technically I don't disagree, but as a doctor yourself Dr Samuels, that does not mean you shouldn't at least try. That, and not giving your patients the option to decide for themselves what the "less hassle" would be, just shows you don't actually care about your patients.
Similar to other reviewers, I wouldn't recommend NC Eye Associates unless you enjoy paying to have your eyes checked on a yearly basis and plan to pay double for your frames and lenses. I had an issue with my lens popping out of the frame (which I purchased through Costco as they were significantly cheaper), after several attempts to repair it, I needed to get a new lens that would fit correctly, my prescription was 3 days expired. I contacted NC Eye Associates and asked if Dr. Samuels could extend my prescription a few days so I could get a replacement lens and was told I would need to get a new exam. As you can see by NC Eye Associates response, they are clearly money driven and not customer service driven. If I had spent double and purchased the frames and lenses through NC Eye Associates, they would be happy to help, instead they saw an opportunity for more revenue. I chose Dr. Samuels based on the reviews I had read having just moved to the area. I am shocked at the lack of understanding and greed shown by Dr. Samuels to simply extend a prescription a day or two to get my glasses fixed, regardless of where they were purchased, most eye glass prescriptions are good for two years. I would rather go without a lens and find a new Optometrist, than give my business to NC Eye Associates and Dr Samuels who clearly puts money instead of his patients first.
We went there as this is super close to where we live. The staff are excellent. Dr. Samuels has the most advanced equipment that I've ever seen. Probably most comfortable experience getting a pair of glasses in my life. The front desk girls are super helpful. They even took care of our toddler like our family while my husband and I were doing eye exams, etc.
