America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

Miss Amy at the front desk is a ray of sunshine. I wandered in hoping for a same day appointment; she just radiated joy. Her kindness and welcoming spirit was palpable. She got me an appointment time quickly (within 10 min of walking in) and we enjoyed casual conversation. She encouraged me to look around at frames after completing my paperwork, which I did. Mr. Rich approached me as I was trying on frames and patiently explained what to look for. He was honest in what he liked and didn't, which I asked for and greatly appreciated. From there, Ja'lisa (the Technician) brought be back for the first part of my assessment. She answered my endless questions patiently and worked efficiently. These three individuals made my experience so pleasant! After the first assessments, I sat waiting for the second component. At that point, I looked around and it was as is everyone had disappeared. (When I had come in the store it felt overstaffed - now it was bare bones.) After 20 minutes or so, everyone returned; I assume there was a team meeting. A tall man who had been wandering the store with an ipad-like device aimlessly when I arrived continued to do the same. He eventually asked customers if they had been taken care of. However, when he asked me, I noted I was waiting to see a doctor but had been waiting quite awhile, he said "OK" and then walked away! I then watched him call out to staff to pull them over to talk to him. He appeared to be a manager. (Frankly, I was uncomfortable with the way he spoke to staff - it was demeaning and condescending. I sat for close to an hour waiting, so I had time to observe and noted a pattern in how he talked to those in the store of a race different than his own.) When Ja'lisa brought me back for the 2nd portion of the exam, I was surprised to learn that their doctors were tele-health physicians. This was a quick and speedy process, where I felt heard and was able to ask my many, many questions without anyone rushing me. They had patience and took their time. While I didn't expect to spend 3 hours getting an eye exam and picking out glasses, my experience was still positive (with the exception of the man I assume was the manager).

I came in last week for an exam. It went fine except I did not care for the virtual doctor experience. After completing my exam I went out to pick out my glasses. I walked around to see what I could find. I waited for what felt like forever. There were a couple ladies sitting down with other customers so I waited patiently. While the others acknowledged me the lady that was behind the counter seemed to take no notice. She didn't offer any assistance or even state that someone would be with me shortly.Come to find out it was the manager. I believe her name was Annette. I would have let that slide and right it off as her being busy but the way she talked to the other employees was unacceptable in my book. Very rude and downgrading. After waiting for a while a young lady finished up with another customer and asked if she could help me. She was extremely helpful and helped me pick out some frames that fit me good. While I was trying to get my measurements done the manager kept interrupting the lady helping me to help her with something she was having trouble with. I had already been there for a while at that point and had somewhere I needed to be. That further added to my frustration. I finally finished and was on my way. If it was not for what I saw coming from the manager and disregard for customers time this would have been a five star review. Everyone else was polite and helpful. Not sure if I'll be back or recommended this place to anyone however.

Called me this morning to ask me to come in a little earlier, so I leave work an hour early to accommodate the request. just to get a call as I'm pulling into the lot that I need to reschedule as they've fallen behind and a doctor won't be able to see me. Made my appointment 2 weeks ago to be told they can't help me 30 minutes before my appointment.

I have been to America's Best in a different state several times without any issues. In 2025 I noticed that Burlington had a location so I scheduled an appointment not realizing until the day of my appointment it would be virtual. I felt the exam went fine but after as I'm talking to the glasses technician he indirectly mentions my eye pressure numbers were high. The Dr NEVER spoke of any concerns during my exam so I obviously then had numerous questions about the changes. The technician nonchalantly replied: "Well we can google the answers together!" No!! I was so upset that the Dr never mentioned any problems and now I'm left to figure this out by myself via Google and then I must wait a year before finding a different Dr to re-examine me due to insurance requirements! I will never go back to another America's Best due to this experience! I will never use another virtual provider and while the Burlington location staff were kind, they were not very knowledgeable.

The manager Annette was rude to workers in front of customers. She would start doing something and stop get up n start something else and told the other young lady to hurry up there was other thing that she could be doing while I was looking up some information for her to put in my child's chart. I love the service Amanda gave to me and my child.

Annette is wonderful Really went above and beyond my expectations Hope she's valued by Americas Best, she should be in the field teaching others about proper customer service 5 stars for Annette in Burlington NC!!!

These guys were absolutely outstanding. Great customer service from start to finish. They were so helpful in accommodating my needs as I had to bring both of my children (both under 3) these people are special. Very considerate and seem to enjoy what they do. Not to mention their pricing is FAR more appealing than any other company I've ever seen. Thanks so much guys. Seriously it was a pleasure.

Likes to leave patients personal information out on the counters where others can see. I'm not sure how safe this is, isn't that against HIPAA?
