I come here every six months for glaucoma testing, retinal imaging and eye photos with Dr. Sawchyn. The nurses and techs here are always amazing! They're kind and it's clear most of them are very passionate about caring for peoples' eyes. Sometimes it's a long wait between different tests since so many people come here, but I just plan for that now. I've never had to be in the office longer than 2.5 hours and staff are always accommodating and communicate well.
I bring my sister here every 6 months, she has glaucoma. Her Dr is wonderful and nurses are great, however the waiting 2 hrs is terrible. I have been to a lot of OSU and surrounding medical facilities and have nothing but great things. I watched a older couple wait for 3 hrs till they got called back.
If I could give a negative rating I would solely based on their scheduling department. Dr was fantastic to my boyfriend BUT, when we tried to get a lockdown on a procedure time, instead of waiting until the day prior to, so I could request time off work, they advised we could go elsewhere if we didn't like how they did the scheduling and refused to work with us. Scheduling staff are rude, condescending, unwilling to help and need a lesson in customer relations.
I started going here for my MD because it looked like they were the best in central Ohio. Unfortunately, the are no where near the best in being respectful of YOUR time. Over an hour wait to see the dr, after giving an hour for pre-testing, is just absurd. And then the dr spending about 3 minutes with me???? No exaggeration...about 3 minutes. Informed me of being higher risk but gave no explanation as to what changed in the last 5 months that caused the change in risk level. It is so disappointing and frustrating that doctors can't show the respect fir their patients anywhere close to the level of respect they think they deserve. Looking for a new dr.
My husband has keratoconus and had corneal cross linking done on both eyes last year here. They were so wonderful and we came back this year to get scleral lenses. Everyone we've spoken to has been so caring and kind. We are driving 4 hrs round trip for these appointments and will continue!
The office scheduled me with the WRONG doctor, a cornea specialist, when I was there for blepharplasty consult. They set up a new appointment with Dr Cho. Then, I called today to cancel the new appointment and they didn't even have that new appointment on the schedule! I cannot believe the level of incompetence- it is really maddening! I highly recommend you go elsewhere!
If you attended school at OSU, you'll know what type of treatment to expect here: parking is a chore, long waits, lack of communication, impersonal treatment, "please pay and leave." Indeed, you are a number with a $ attached here, nothing more.
After 5 rushed appointments with an uncaring, possibly incompetent physician (who never even asked my name), my condition has worsened over the course of treatment. My doctor neglected to listen to my complaints and grew testy with me as I asked simple questions whose answers might affect my health. Instead of spending even 2 minutes listening to me, she treated, or mistreated, one particular symptom of mine, neglecting others. I have loss of vision to show for the inconvenience of taking part of her time to treat me.
There is a social worker who coordinates solutions to problems of access and outcomes at Havener. She has yet to return my phone calls or the message I left with reception upon my last visit. Given the gross incompetence here, I'm sure she's a busy woman.
In sum, if your vision is at stake, do yourself a favor and AVOID OSU HAVENER AT ALL COSTS. Go someplace with more experienced doctors not in a rush to see so many patients they can't remember anything about you or your ailments, and where they respect the heath of their clients first and foremost. (I wish I had thought to read the reviews left here before booking.)
P.S.-The robo-tag they will no doubt use to respond to this review tells you exactly how your case will be treated.
Very good at what they do. Very friendly and very helpful at what they do.
