Clarkson Eyecare Middleburg Heights

My family has been coming to Clarkson Eyecare for the past few years. Everything started out fine, but things have gone gradually down hill. There has been high turnover among their optometrist and scheduling difficulties. The last straw occurred this week when I had an appointment set for my yearly exam on December 30th. I showed up for my exam 15 minutes ahead of my appointment time, and noticed that there were no cars in the parking lot and the door was locked. The sign on the door indicated that the office was closed on Tuesdays and actually the new hours say they are only open two days a week on Monday and Wednesday. I called the following morning and spoke with Holly and she said that they changed their hours and "called everyone to notify them". Well Holly, nobody called me. Actually I received an email reminder from them on December 22nd that I have a frame benefit to use at my upcoming appointment scheduled for December 30th. She did not apologize and didn't offer to reschedule me. NOTHING! The more I look into Clarkson Eyecare, there are a ton of complaints and bad reviews online about scheduling problems and billing problems. I took time off of work to come to my eye appointment that was scheduled months in advance and I'm in a spot where I NEED NEW GLASSES. Now I have to find a new doctor and who knows when I will be able to get in. I have never experienced anything quite like it. You have to wonder why an eye doctor would only be open two days a week. What is the point? Are you shutting down? Apparently this is how they treat their customers. BYE BYE!

Currently (Feb 2026) they seem to be dealing with scheduling headaches, possibly because their other location (Kamms Corner) is closed for repairs; so if you think you have an appointment with them, double-check. THAT SAID ... I just had my first appointment with Dr. Palmeri and I like him. He reminds me of Dr. Kammer (now retired): friendly, methodical, efficient. I look forward to years more eye care with him.

I had a terrible experience here. The eye doctor prescribed the wrong glasses prescription, and after ordering the glasses based on that prescription, I couldn't see anything clearly at all. It was completely unusable. I wasted both my time and my money because of their mistake. Instead of helping, this created more frustration and delays than anything else. This is not a trusted location for good service, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for accurate care or professionalism.

Staff is extremely friendly and service is good IF they can keep your appointment. Every year we set an appointment and something happens... They need to reschedule because of some issue with staff... They need to move the appointment to a different location... They need to reschedule because of office problems... It's a serious hassle to try and deal with year after year, especially with their awful hours to begin with. Really makes a customer feel like they are not important when appointments can't be kept as booked. Made the decision to find a new place, thankfully there are a ton of highly reviewed optometrist in the area.

Dr. Kammer is excellent! He made me and my daughter feel so comfortable. Not only did he do a great job with the exam, his attentiveness and literal entertainment the entire time was much appreciated. It was actually the funnest appointment I've ever been to in my life. He is very enthusiastic and definitely has a one of a kind personality! I will bring every person I know here, and he genuinely will appreciate it. He said "I would be honored to have you". We appreciate the sincerity of Dr. Kammer. And the rest of the stuff was wonderful as well. Forever customer right here!

Every single person I interacted with was awesome and conversational! Never felt so comfortable at any sort of 'doctors appointment'. Also, they seem to be very up-to-date / advanced with some of their technologies! Sounds weird to say about an eye doctor, but I was incredibly impressed and would recommend to anyone. -Chance

The best eye exam experience I've ever had in my life was with Dr. Kammer. His personality is warm and welcoming and his eye exams are thorough, and he explains everything he is doing. He truly cares for his patients and has great knowledge and expertise. I would recommend Dr. Kammer to everyone!

I was impressed with the efficiency of the staff and the friendliness and professionalism of the doctor and everyone that helped me that day. I felt it was a very positive experience overall!
